To our equippment belongs also cable TV, radio, telephone, safe, free wireless internet and other amenities. In the warmer months, you can sit in our idyllic beer garden in the courtyard, or enjoy our terrace overlooking the Old City to a relaxing holiday. The traditional "Patrizier" is a city hotel in the medieval town of Schmalkalden in a romantic half-timbered house built in 1530.The historic town offers visitors a variety of attractions, such as the nearby Castle William Castle, the Luther House or the church of St George. The cities of Meiningen, Bad Salzungen, Eisenach and Erfurt are not far away and also interesting places to visit.
Lovely hotel in an old building in the old parts of town. The small old town is a nice and good surprice. The hotel has a backyard for parking. The hotel, the rooms, the restaurant are all in grand style, old faschion. A small reception taken straight from an episode of "Derrick", with a friendly and helpfull lady who made you feel welcome. Our room and bathroom were large and the beds were the best ever. Lots of closet space. It was a fridge with different bottles in the hallway, help yourself, and pay when you leave. We were here off season and had origially booked at the Grunes Tor hotel. Both hotels cooperate, and we were quite happy with the Patrizier . The hotel also has a sun terrace, and the breakfast was good.. The town Schmalkalden is small but have a few good and charming restaurants, open even in low season. The road leading to the town is nice with lovely woods, .winding roads and nice views.

Stayed one night on my way to Berlin. Hotel is quite a way out of town up in the hills. Good for hiking but you need your car to go into town. Rooms average and facilities a bit worn. However, having said that, the price was reasonable and of a 3 star rate so I can't complain. Imagine that this is more a conference hotel. The town of Schmalkalden, with its 'old center' is certainly worthy of a visit. Beautiful half timbered houses as well as an impressive church to view and it has reformation history with Martin Luther being a resident for a time.

Not the wildest of scenario, however great views and relatively remote: no traffic noise, so quite relaxing. A pleasant 30 min walk takes you to downtown - typical German small town. Great WiFi, one of the best connections I've had in Germany. A new building, opened just in 2014, so everything is new and clean. Owners are great, and their son speaks English quite well. His father makes the best scrambled eggs I've had in a while, even if this is not my favorite food. Rich and varied breakfast includes besides the usual meat and cheese, smoked fish, fresh vegetables and fruits and a toast with cheese made in the oven. You can tell I enjoy eating as half of the review is related food. It is close somehow to Thuringen forest, but is not in the middle of wilderness. Is a great place for a romantic weekend, with large airy rooms and wonderfully furnished. I hope you will enjoy the stay as much as I did.

This hotel is a renovated 15th-century Timber-work building. The rooms have exposed beams and the floors are staggered. We did get lost a couple of times trying to find our room because we used an interior side entrance. It was really interesting to explore the town and get to stay in one of these buildings. Great location. A very good breakfast buffet is served in an adjacent partner-hotel dining room.

This hotel was a delight. Although it was 32 degrees and humid with no air conditioning, the windows open wide and the forest atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. This is a typical small village hotel with very few amenities. Beds are hard but comfortable, the rooms are very small. No iron, but the hostess graciously ironed my outfit with a smile and no charge. The restaurant had a beautiful buffet for breakfast. Again, the atmosphere was so delightful and friendly. It was a very relaxed stay. I would stay again. It is best to have a car because it is a ways to town by foot.

Ubytování v penzionu Am Sonnenhof nemá žádnou chybu. Krásné, nově vybavené pokoje, velké koupelny, kompletně vybavené kuchyně. Všude perfektně čisto. Majitelé jsou milý a vstřícní lidé. This hotel is near the town centre of Schmalkalden. It is clean and very bright. It is on a side road and has free parking for guests and is pretty quiet. There is no elevator here so you will have manage your luggage up the stairs, there are also stairs to get in the building so it is not good for handicapped people or those who struggle with a lot of stairs as you will have to go up at least two flights to get to your room, but I think that is probably one of the reasons that it is only 3 stars. The décor is nice and the room is quite large for a 3 star place, though the bathroom is the size that you would expect in such a hotel, be aware that there is only shower gel and soap in the bathroom so you will need to bring your own shampoo. The free internet connection is rather good, though slow at times if a lot of people are using it. We didn't have breakfast here because it wasn't included in our room rate and we wanted to get something in town, but it looked good for the price. If we would go back to Schmalkalden, we would consider staying here again.

Liebevolle eingerichtete Zimmer, zweckmäßig, groß. Frisch aufgebackene Brötchen und ein spitzen Frühstück! Besser als in vielen Hotels! An Saft, Actimel, Jogurt frische Wurst etc. Top hat es nicht gefehlt! Wir kommen gern wieder
