Nice but very very small rooms
Reviewed By RbrtHThere was a lot to like about this hotel. The breakfast was great. The staff were friendly. It seemed very clean. The downside: It was probably the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in. I've stayed in a number of hotels in Japan and realize Japanese hotel rooms tend to be small, but this is small even by Japan standards. The queen-sized bed was pushed tight against the wall on one side, and since the nightstand on the other side of the bed was bolted to the wall, there was no option of pulling the bed away from the wall. That means if two people are sleeping in the bed, one needs to climb over the other to get out of bed! I felt I was staying in a miniature hotel. The bathroom was also extreemly cramped. Since this is rated the # 1 hotel in town, I doubt any of the other hotels are much better. Just be prepared for a very tiny room!

Reviewed By choralmelodyI should say in advance that this is not a "luxury" type hotel; it serves mainly business guests. I'm a frequent traveller to Japan. This time I was looking for a hotel which would be fairly easy to reach from Narita airport and to go to Ashikaga Flower Park, my main aim for this trip. The hotel largely fulfilled my expectations in this regard (I took an express bus from the airport and the hotel is about 15 min walk from the bus stop in Sano. I had to take a taxi to the flower park but it was worth it). Special mention must go to the breakfast spread, which was both sumptuous and scrumptious. Do note that if ladies have to inform the front desk in advance before using the public bath facilities. This is because the space inside is limited. Once, we had to wait until the previous guests were done. I do recommend the bath though; it's very relaxing. The hotel staff were all helpful and friendly. Ask them for help if you need a taxi or directions! One last thing: while in Sano, make sure to try Sano-style ramen! If you ask the front desk staff, they'll give you a ramen map and recommendations.

Reviewed By FritsMetzTerrific service at the front desk. Really nice restaurant on the side, unfortunately we only had breakfast there, ran out of time as it was just a quick stop. The open air onsen (hot water spa) is fantastic. Nice shower facility before getting into the hot water. Just big enough for two (or with the kids), so it is private.

Reviewed By s10001inStayed in this hotel for one night as no other hotels were available with non smoking room option. Hotel in very near to station in small ally. Reached by walk. Room was neat and clean but super small. Also they provided room with double bed (rack type so it was very dark and i was scared of waking up and bang my head on upper bed loft.) Bathroom was clean though broken rods and hanger and few drill holes on the wall. Breakfast was curry rice and some other food stuff. Very average. Hotel is alright with the price they charged. But i will avoid to stay there again and prefer to stay in oyama or tatebayashi instead.

15 - 20 Minute Taxi Ride to Train Station
Reviewed By Emerson3091For the price it was okay for one or two nights. We had the room with bunk beds. We are accustomed to small rooms yet this one was very TINY - side step walking movement only. If there are 2 people there is no room for luggage and spreading out of personal things. There is a small café style restaurant connected to the lobby floor and front desk. Breakfast was fresh. We would not stay here again, mainly because of the proximity to the train station. We spent more on taxi rides then the hotel. The room was situated so late night traffic, car noise, people roaming , and lights shining in room window were part of the accommodations.

Very good hotel with better service in sano
Reviewed By s10001inSano is a small city and I have been using this hotel for past few months. Hotel is couple of minutes walk from station. Old building with good appearance. Many rooms which are ver old but nicely maintained. I always got floor 6 or 7. I liked room 601 which bit bigger than other rooms and it had sofa kept inside. Its a business hotel and breakfast option is available. Breakfast is super. I took Japanese breakfast and quantity and variety are awesome. When i get breakfast i skip lunch. English breakfast is huge too. No built wi-fi in room so you need to get wireless router from reception which can be plugged without any efforts. Taxi is available on call from reception. This is better hotel and i have been still using it. Recommend in sano.

Amazing Gem of Vintage Onsen Hotel
Reviewed By AndraYoAn Onsen Hotel with a lovely Japanese Teien Garden complete with a flowing pond, many carps, 2 waterfalls, a collection of Japanese toro lanterns, and an English-style Manor copied from one the owner saw in England. The onsen also overlooks the garden, and very pretty with the morning sun shining through the stained glass windows. Dinner was in a private room with many kaiseki courses of local specialities. They are very proud of the "water" as the location is of highest water quality- you can drink from the well. So soup, noodles, rice and coffee, they were very proud of anything with water in it. We had Joshu beef, the local brand, grilled with matsutake! A little tough but a generous quanity. Our room was very modern with comfy bed, a sofa, stained glass, and a large Japanese tatami area. Open the window and we were right on the flowing water. Ladies get a choice of yukata to wear. The main building of the Hotel is celebrating 101 years, the owner is quite a character! There are collections of all kinds, toys, teacups, James Bond posters, some retro but some vintage items too! Definitely One of a Kind.
