Discover an urban retreat in the heart of Escazu, San Jose most exclusive area. Ideally located within Multiplaza Mall complex, the hotel is just a few steps away from the finest restaurants, bars, upscale shops and two corporate centers. Enjoy a lively ambience in any of our four trendy restaurants, escape to our exclusive spa, enjoy our heated pools surrounded by tropical gardens. The hotel also features a Convention Center with thirteen versatile event rooms. All 372 soundproofed rooms feature streaming speed Internet access, blackout curtains and pillowtop beds. Guests can enjoy deep soaking tubs and other standard amenities include mobile docking station, rain showers, 24 hour room service, soundproof windows, flat screen TVs, ergonomic chair and an ample working desk.
This hotel is completely overpriced. The front desk staff was completely unfriendly. The bathroom wasn’t clean, (tub too dirty to sit in and the glass in the shower has soap scum on it). The room has a small coffee maker with no milk or creamer and the cups were dirty. At this outrageous price, breakfast should be included for all guests, however, our $344 per night room did not include breakfast and when we asked if it could be included, we were told no. I wouldn’t consider ever staying here again. There are comparable options in the area for $100+ a night cheaper. I can’t stand a snobby hotel riding off of a name while providing zero customer service.

Colonial beauty meets modern technology in our stylish guest rooms, featuring complimentary WiFi, a 50-inch HDTV, mini-refrigerator, work desk and walk-in shower. Choose an executive room for more amenities and beautiful city views, or treat yourself to a suite with living area, second HDTV and 24-hour butler service.
Really pleased to arrive at this hotel after a long flight. The staff were welcoming and the spacious room was ready for us. The view from our room was overlooking the courtyard at the front of the hotel. It is close to museums and parks and is a great base to wander around the city from. As a vegan I found plenty to eat at breakfast. The only downside was at dinner where I did struggle to find anything, the order took a long time and then the order was wrong hence only 4 out of 5.

This hotel definitely started our Costa Rican adventure off right! The response from any inquiry prior to our arrival was always prompt, friendly and informative. The shuttle from SJO to the property was arranged ahead of time and a representative met us immediately upon exiting the airport. The ride from SJO to the hotel was roughly 10 minutes. The front desk was SO FRIENDLY and welcoming! I didn't care so much for the dinner in the hotel restaurant that night (I had the fish tacos, but other members of our group enjoyed their meals) but the service was friendly. The included breakfast in the morning was WONDERFUL! There were fresh fruits, coffee, cereal and muffins in the buffet, but then you also order an entre off the menu. VERY good. We even received a thank-you email from the owner, Eric Robinson, upon our return home. I will say that when we travel, we usually choose 5 star accommodations. With that perspective, the rooms here are a tad dated, HOWEVER, I still give it 5 stars because it was EXACTLY what we needed and the experience was so friendly and seamless. Without reservation, I would stay here again while in San Jose and would definitely recommend this property, particularly the day before or after a flight. All things considered, I see why it is the #1 rated hotel in San Jose.

This is a nice little quaint hotel that has been updated and is clean and cozy. The service is excellent. We had an issue with the enervations through Expedia and the hotel staff took the ball and got it corrected. They also arranged to have someone come to the room and do COVID test.

My husband and I spent our first and last nights in Costa Rica at this beautiful, old hotel with exotic plants and photos of old San Jose everywhere. We were upgraded to a room that had its own plant-filled solarium which was a real treat. The hotel is elegant in a style that is hard to find these days, but it also had the comforts of huge bathrooms, an outdoor spa on the roof and an exercise room. The restaurant was not to miss — fantastic food and impeccable service in a lovely, comfortable dining room. the outdoor dining for breakfast was really nice, too. Our stay there was well worth the trip into town from the airport, something which the very helpful staff arranged for us.

We were here 3 weeks ago (stayed for 2 weeks) and we are back again cos we use to love this place. However, past few days we actually have some experience that were not really good. We ordered room service 2 days back and requested for white bread. They gave us red bread in which we dont like so we ask for a replacement. A lady came and told us that bread is complimentary and we are lucky cos they have an event so we have another option. Its not really nice cos she sounds like we should be thankful to her and we owe her something. Last night we ordered room service again for dinner and they charge us the bread. So I ask them how come the bread is being charged and ask them to remove it . Luckily I check the bill before signing cos if not, they will be charging us with the bread that supposedly comes with the meal. Another bad experience that made me write this review is that this morning, I called to order room service. I waited for 30 min on the phone ringing and nobody is answering. I called the Front office cos I was thinking that maybe they could assist me in informing the room service people. Front office picked up however, even before I finished talking, she transfered my call to room service again and it keeps on ringing and ringing. I gave up and went down to level 18 to place my order personally at the restaurant. I was expecting the restaurant to be busy thats why nobody picked up my call but when I went down, to my surprise, the restaurant is empty!! Staff are talking to each other doing nothing!! I told the guy who is at the front about what happen and he didnt even bother to apologize. It is just really frustrating. I hope the management can look into this cos its really disappointing especially for a return guest like us who expects to get the good service that we experience before but is given otherwise.

Adorable boutique hotel in a vintage building in the historic center of San Jose. Staff were incredibly friendly & helpful, and the owner was there every single day of my 3 night stay. Exterior from the street is not so impressive, but the interior, courtyard, pool, and breakfast area are beautiful and peaceful - I had a front room and heard absolutely no noise from the street. Wifi also worked great once I managed to get logged in! Walking distance to museums, shopping, parks, restaurants and casinos - I'm a slightly older woman with bad knees but had no problem walking anywhere. Also felt incredibly safe as a solo traveler. Would definitely stay again, and recommend to anyone looking for something a little different than a generic chain hotel!

The lobby is handled poorly - it’s a car park with hotel staff looking blankly at you. Our luggage took 20 minutes to get to the room. The room door needs to be slammed to close. We requested ice to the room and took 30 minutes. - after three requests.

I only stayed a night in San José so I can't really say that I've had a chance to explore the hotel much. I thought the staff were nice. I arrived a bit earlier than my check-in time, so while I waited for my room to be ready, I decided to eat lunch at the restaurant in the hotel since I was starving due to not being fed on the plane. I thought the food was delicious. I had the sopa de mariscos and some patacones. My room was all right. I thought some things were a little bit outdated compared to what the reception area looked like, but I was so tired from my trip that I just showered and crashed. I did sleep well, so that's a plus. Breakfast was included for me. It was buffet style and delicious. I checked-out right after breakfast to go to my tour en route to Arenal.
