Hands down BEST eco lodge you can wish for in Rio Dulce. Never seen such a customer service in my life. I lost my phone on the way there and they did everything to get it back to me and they managed. From dealing with corrupt shuttle drivers to picking up the phone for me because they said no one messes with their customers. Ive been blown away by their levels of service, thank you Gaby!!! (On top of this the place is gorgeous, amazing chef and food, great staff and the best tours, we will be back!!)

Please email or call us directly if the dates you have chosen show as sold out. Hotelito Perdido is a boutique jungle eco lodge situated in the heart of the Rio Dulce National Park, tucked away on one of the small freshwater tributaries that feed the Rio Dulce. Although it feels like a million miles from anywhere, being just off the popular tourist route between Livingston and the town of Rio Dulce means that the hotel is easily accessible by boat. Both Lonely Planet and Rough Guide currently list the hotel as one of their 'recommended destinations' in the region. The hot springs, the manatee reserve and some beautiful waterfalls are within kayaking distance of the hotel. We rent kayaks and wooden cayucos, we organize various tours (to Livingston, Tiger's Cave, Mayan Q'eqchi village, Manatee Reserve etc.). We offer drinks, homemade food, we make our own bread and we eat our evening meal together, family style. There is dock to swim from, Gym and Yoga House for guests to use, beautiful tropical gardens with fruit trees, plenty of hammocks to relax in, games to play and good books to read. There is communal house with bar, lounge and restaurant, there is a b-b-q area and hammock house by the dock. The hotel can currently accommodate 14 guests. We offer bungalows with private bathrooms, rooms and the Jungle Loft with 5 beds. The hotel is fully solar powered.
Hotelito Perdido has everything we were looking for in our stay in Rio Dulce: the location, the people, the food, the vibe. The staff is super kind and professional, always helping you plan and book your next activity and trip. The food (vegetarian options, all homemade) is delicious - their bread and homemade chocolate are a must-try. The place is just beautiful, surrounded by the jungle and on the river, that you can explore with a kayak or paddle board. The place is perfect for travellers who want to relax but also experience a feeling of community and make new friends. Dinner is served at 6.30 pm around the main table, so everyone gathers together and that’s how you meet amazing people.

I have not visited Livingston since the start of the pandemic and was worried things would have ttaken AZ turn for the worse. It is true that many restsurants have closed and hotels look the worse for wear but not Casa Nostra. The rooms are still fresh and clean. The food is still easily the best in Livingston AND they have added a fantastic over the water dining area along with as big dock. Service is great and the friendly owner knows everything about the area. Definitely the best place in Livkngston. Dont miss.

La Casa Rosada has been Livingston's favorite for 50 years. Our family is a great mix of locals and international travelers, some of which have been with us since the start while others have brought new energy. We are located on the river side at just a few minutes walk from the main dock and main street. A beautiful old Caribbean house set right on the water side, with fantastic views of the bay. Our light and spacious dorm is on the second floor of the building with ocean view and ocean breeze. Our bungalows are built around the tropical garden surrounding the main building. Our attractive restaurant is known for its great, local selection of fresh seafood, as well as international and vegetarian options. Our bar offers the best coffee in town, fresh home-made smoothies, ice cold beers and a selection of cocktails. We often have live Garifuna music to give you a taste of this amazing culture that is so different from the rest of Guatemala. Our place is fantastic to relax and enjoy amazing views, either in one of the open air lounges, or in one of the hammocks on our private dock. You can grab a book from our exchange, a game to play with friends or a tube to relax in the water. If you feel more adventurous you can book a tour with us to any of the local attractions such as beaches and waterfalls, or rent a jet-ski, kayak, canoe or paddle board (50% discount for our guests!) to explore the beautiful area on your own. We have free WiFi and a travel and tour desk and are happy to help you enjoy this amazing place as well as help you with your onward travel. We're looking forward to meeting you!
Amazing hotel, we had a beautiful 2 bed bungalow for £11 a night. Food is great and staff are lovely. Cute family vibes. Highly recommend the Tapado for Q100. Only minor issue is the poor wifi. Not everyone goes to Livingston but they absolutely should! Stay here!

Finding an ideal romantic hotel in Livingston does not have to be difficult. Welcome to Hotel Villa Caribe, a nice option for travellers like you. Rooms at Hotel Villa Caribe provide air conditioning, free wifi and unbelievable views of the Caribbean Sea. In addition, while staying at Hotel Villa Caribe guests have access to a 24 hour front desk, a concierge, and room service. You can also enjoy a pool and delicious local cuisine. Livingston is also home to Seven Altars, a popular waterfall that is not too far from Hotel Villa Caribe and the famous Playa Blanca, a white sand beach only a 20 min boat ride away. Hotel Villa Caribe puts the best of Livingston at your fingertips, making your stay both relaxing and enjoyable.
This hotel probably has the best amenities on the island. The views from the rooms are fabulous and the pool is great. However, the food is bland, pricey, and undesirable. Most evenings the dining room is empty because guests have probably figured out that they'd be better off eating almost anywhere in Livingston. I spent almost two weeks in Livingston and ate at this hotel's restaurant four times. I kept going back because the food used to be good, and I thought that (perhaps) I had been ordering the wrong items. However, I was disappointed each time. On my first visit, I ordered fried fish and rice and beans. The fish was small and bland, and they topped it with raw onions. The rice was cold. The second time I ordered a shrimp ceviche. Unlike almost everywhere else on the island, the ceviche came on a plate (as opposed to deep dish cup) and had zero flavor. On my third visit, I met a friend for drinks -- thinking that would be hard to mess up. But, the hotel did miss that up. We ordered daiquiris, which were watery and warm. I opted for a hamburger on my last visit, but it was salty and chewy. Again, this hotel has great scenic views and good internet service. I spent some time using the internet on my laptop in the hotel's lobby. During my last night, after eating at the restaurant, I was asked to leave the premises because the lobby, which has tons of seating, apparently is for hotel guests only. This made no sense to me. As a native Garifuna, I was very concerned that the hotel staff was being racist, especially because there were Europeans seated in the lobby most days and they were not all guests.

Tortugal is an exciting part of any Rio Dulce experience with its spectacular peninsula location halfway between the bridge and 16th century Castillo San Felipe. This incredible location means being close to everything needed for convenience yet far enough away to be surrounded by nature. The best way to begin the day is to go for a swim in the refreshing, healing waters of the Rio Dulce to a floating platform where you can relax and enjoy the day's beginning. If you don't fall back to sleep gently rocking on the platform, swim back after awhile and help yourself to an early morning coffee or tea in the restaurant where you will find other travellers beginning their day. Your breakfast will be prepared as you wish and the best part is: breakfast is included with your stay! An early morning kayak trip to Castillo San Felipe de Lara could follow breakfast or maybe you are in the mood for a walk. Look for the elevated walkway which goes through a magical mangrove forest and small lagoon to a bridge over a freshwater creek. From there it is easy to walk through the spectacular hardwood plantation to the main road which leads (left) to San Felipe and (right) to Fronteras. In Fronteras, you can catch a minibus and spend the afternoon or tomorrow morning at Finca Paraiso's hot waterfalls and pool. Pack a lunch from Tortugal's kitchen to enjoy at Paraiso or at the white rocks in famous Boqueron Canyon. There is so much to do, I almost forgot to mention the most profund of all reasons to come to the river: The Great Canyon of the Rio Dulce. This spectacular canyon was the site chosen for the first Tarzan movie. A community boat leaves just about when you are finishing breakfast every morning and wends its way through the canyon, the waterlilly floating garden and the hot springs; eventually delivering you about an hour later to Livingston. Returning in the early afternoon from this adventure; go for another swim in the river and relax on the floating platform. You will have the best sleep of your life under all cotton fabrics in a room created by artesans. On your way to or from Tikal, Belize, Mexico or Honduras; Tortugal is an out of the ordinary experience, the place to stay.
One of the best hotels we have stayed at. The rooms are clean, the bed is comfy, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant is big , airy and looks onto the river. The food is delicious, well presented and the portion size is great. Do leave a little room in your tummy for dessert. If you like adventure, free kayaks available and I lovely walk on the grounds

The property is beautiful. The rooms are basic. Good bed but pillows are small and thin, needs to be replaced. Shower looses the hot water after about 2 minutes. Staff are nice but very slow with assisting. Has 2 nice pools, you can rent kayaks.

Hotel Eco amigable con su propia playa en medio del rio. Y las mejores vistas
We looked hard to find a place surrounded by natural beauty, with really good food, and not too expensive. We found it! They have even accommodated my gluten-free diet and my partner’s vegetarianism, deliciously! Hummingbirds buzz through, toucans visible across the river. Bring your binocs! Plus the family-style dinners have been great for connecting to people we might never have spoken to. Highly recommend.

Came here on a backpacking trip and stayed in the shared dorms. It’s a very clean and welcoming environment. My friend and I didn’t even leave the hotel the whole time we were here because it’s so nice!

As of October, 2016, Posada El Delfin has a Thailandese masseur by appointment only. Also, with our in-house staff, we can answer in Spanish, English and Thai languages.
I still don't know what to make of Livingston but if you are staying here Posada El Delfin is not a bad choice. Giovanni the manager is very helpful and knowledgeable and all the staff are very friendly. The hotel was clean, the rooms a decent size, the shower did the job and breakfast was a bonus. The swimming pool is good to cool down in and the hammocks on the boat dock are a great place to relax and watch the Pelicans, Frigate birds and the odd Osprey. The rooms can get pretty hot but the rooms have air-con. I would be a bit dubious about staying in the rooms near the table football!
