Rethymnon is one of the most well-preserved Venetian old towns on the island of Crete. Its 16th-century buildings are stunning examples of ancient architecture, and the monolithic Fortezza reflects both European and Moorish influences. Explore the magical waterfalls, rock formations, and ‘"cave church" of Saint Anthony Gorge before taking a pleasant evening stroll along the colorful Venetian Harbor. Relax in a taverna over a plate of Cretan meze, like fresh feta drizzled with local olive oil.

By far the nicest place we stayed in Crete and one of the best anywhere! All the little details were thought of and most of all the staff made this place special. Especially Evangelia (Hope I spelled that correctly) who worked mornings and the breakfast. She is a huge asset to the hotel and should be recognized! The welcome drink was a nice touch. The breakfast spread changed every day and was high quality. They included some local dishes which was an extra detail. The courtyard is just beautiful and a peaceful retreat from the crowded streets just outside. In the room the bed was comfortable, the ac cooled the room down quickly and the shower had good water pressure. The room was also decorated with artwork. The location was directly in the heart of the old town yet close enough to walk to the local beaches. Our stay at Rimondi is one of my favorite memories of Crete. We hope to return!

We were here very welcome. On our first day we got a room with private pool. After the first night we moved into a even bigger room with a wonderful seaside view. Everyone was absolutely friendly and helped us with all our questions.

Experience the unique Cretan hospitality and the feeling of “home” from the moment you step to our main lobby. The resort is situated on a beautiful sandy beach with clear blue water, which combines luxury and immaculate service to the fullest detail.
Setting: 2 adults, 3 kids 9/8/4, deluxe family bungalow garden view, all inclusive. What we liked: Staff - exceptional throughout, we felt taken care of, remembered, from the front office, restaurants, pool, beach and cleaning team. Food : Buffet was very good, kids who are normally fussy dashing in to get food at every visit. General quality, frequent replenishment, and range of choice was excellent. Really tasty. A la carte, dragon - steak and sushi, barabossa - fish. Each offered alternatives for kids if they didn’t like the theme. Very tasty meals every day. With our all inclusive package we had a voucher for 1 meal in the a la carte , the others had to be paid for, however we received a subsidy from the buffet restaurant, which makes the cost more reasonable. Beach restaurants food are good as well, but are non included in all inclusive. All inclusive- not everywhere @ every-time, and not including everything. However mostly good. Didn’t cover wife’s cosmopolitan cocktail. Didn’t cover a fresh OJ at the dinner restaurant from my daughter - cordial was included. Beach - great vibe, great sofas just to kick back and relax. Plenty of sun beds of differing ranges. There’s a crafting area, outdoor gym and water sports (paddle boarding, wave-runners etc). Indoor climbing, thanks to Tatiana for helping the kids develop and grow in confidence with each visit. We were there 4 times in a week, 8/9 yo only. Great setting pool, beach, great sunsets. WiFi very good, can stream media content Managed to hook up chromecast to stream Netflix on the room tv. Minimart had pretty much everything you’d need. What could be improved: Phone App - great in principle, but slow and buggy. Rooms, needed some freshening up, paint, carpentry, bathroom. When we arrived (@night) our room (541) wasn’t ideal, it was on the edge of the resort, we didn’t like the position and felt isolated. We complained the following morning, and were advised the hotel is full, however rooms will be available the following day, and we can review options. We reviewed options, and moved to 544, which despite close in number was in another block, slightly more central. Pools are great, with a small but, the main pool shallow area was too deep for 4yo who is 110cm. Despite having a safety bar to split the shallow and deeper pool areas, it wasn’t ideal for her. The kids pool with the slides was also good, but perhaps too shallow for the slides and also requires some work to the tiles (chipped / can be sharp) and the surrounds of the pool. All said the kids loved the pools and were constantly in them. Kids evening entertainment was limited. Kids disco was too young for 8yo and evening musical entertainment for adults was not interesting for 8/9 yo. In conclusion: We would go back to Crete, and go to Grecotel again, it was really great. We would probably try another Grecotel just to have another experience instead of going back to the same place again.

Set on a prime beachfront estate in the heart of the Cretan Riviera, just minutes from the old-world charm of Rethymno’s Venetian harbor,Caramel recreates the laid-back ambience of an island villagewith the understated elegance and amenities of a modern luxury resort.
We stayed in a two bedroom beach front villa for one week. What a lovely boutique hotel to relax and unwind. Our villa was very clean. Only issue was the shower, which soaked the floor after use. The pool was stunning and very quiet. There was always a bed available (not sure if that would remain the same during peak season). The staff and service were exceptional (big shout out to “Ozzy”, service manager). We loved the a’la carte restaurant. Agreco farm and restaurant was worth a visit too. You get a tour around the farm before being served another lovely meal. If you want to venture out, the city is only a 15 minute taxi ride away where there are some lovely shops, harbour and quaint restaurants. There is a nice restaurant opposite too next to Orion hotel. The only issue we weren’t prepared for was the rocky beach and sea. Having two children under 12 meant it wasn’t very safe for them to swim in. I know their beach is protected because the turtles lay their eggs here but we didn’t read anywhere how rocky this beach was. Apart from that, we all had a very relaxing week and enjoyed our stay.

Live the gypset life this summer at the Syntopia by Orion Hotel. Set minutes east of the town of Rethymnon with a golden beach just steps away. Free spirits will feel right at home in our swanky collection of guestrooms, offering luxurious comforts while retaining the warmth of Cretan hospitality. Outdoors, wood, metal, and wicker combine with Aegean architecture to set a one-of-a-kind scene. Hip, refined, and eccentrically charming, Syntopia is here to satisfy all your holiday needs. Whether you're traveling alone, as a couple, or with family and friends, it’s the chic hippie heaven you’ve been waiting for. Go on, feel free to explore our world.
Arrived at the hotel 24th May and was welcomed by lovely staff. The App to sign in and book the restaurants is really useful and a great idea. The food is plentiful and caters for everyone. The restaurant team couldn’t do enough for you and was really helpful. The pool was cleaned daily and yes getting a cabana sunbed was the only downside as people were getting up at ridiculous hours to get one, however the other sunbeds were just as comfortable. I would suggest getting more umbrellas for those people who couldn’t have a cabana. Pool staff work really hard and always have a smile on their face. Movie night was a great touch and entertainment although quite low key was ok. The room although a little small needs more storage, but the shower was fantastic and always had hot water. The rooms are tastefully done and very modern, we had a room over the swimming pool which was nice and had some great views. I would really recommend a stay here, we had a great time and your 5 mins from the beach ? and 5 mins from some restaurants and shops.

We really enjoyed our stay at Iperion. The location was perfect for us. Quiet but near the city. Appartement is clean. Don't expect much from the kitchen in the Appartement but it's nice to have a fridge. The staff is really friendly. Especially the people working at the beach bar! Beds at the beach are good and free. Lot's of nice restaurants nearby but Iperions restaurant is good too.

A renovated Venetian manor house in the heart of the old town. Six luxurious suites that include all modern facilities i.e. plasma satellite TV, king size 3-layer beds, choice of pillows, etc., and, above all, our personal attention to our guests, will make your stay an unforgettable experience.
Our stay at Casa Moazzo was a pure delight, from the warm, professional welcome we received to the lovely send off, from the friendly and welcoming owners. Our rooms were exceptionally clean and well equipped with a safe, TV and air conditioning at no extra cost. The location was absolutely superb, right in the heart of the old town, just a mere 2 minute stroll to numerous bars, restaurants and the scenic harbour. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at CM, very professional, polite and informative. The breakfast was more than ample, eggs, toast, meats, cheeses and pies etc plus some lovely filter coffee. All in all, I can not recommend this hotel enough, 5 stars all round.

We stayed two nights as part of a Crete biking adventure (cycle Greece.com). The room was comfortable and the atmosphere of the whole place was historic and interesting. We ate dinner both nights at the restaurant, as the food was fresh and amazing and the staff was engaging and friendly. Salads were great, fish was terrific, wine yummy too.

The idyllic garden courtyard, the heart of the Avli, has become one of Rethymno’s most famous gastronomic locations. Staying guests enjoy the courtyard for breakfasts inspired by the famous Cretan diet.
After eating at the Avli restaurant last August, when I looked to visit Rethymno this month with my mum and saw they had rooms with excellent reviews I knew I had to book based on how exquisite my experience was in their restaurant. Needless to say, it lived up and exceeded expectations. On arrival, we had to wait a small while but they took us to the courtyard garden for complimentary drinks and meze- amazing! When we then checked in, we were upgraded to suite with balcony and roof terrace- spectacular! Rooms have traditional Cretan features however clean fresh fun and modern. Beautifully done. Dinner in the restaurant again was a must and just as good as last time, breakfast was on par too- best hotel breakfast I have had! The location is perfect, parking is easy in the fortezza Carpark only €10 for 24 hours. Staff all so wonderfully friendly. It’s my little haven in the middle of a beautiful town. I will try to visit once a year!

It is with mixed feelings that I write this review. First holiday after covid for us. For context, my wife is only partially mobile, so has to get around mostly in a wheelchair. We thought we'd try the Porto hotel instead of the Beach to have a bit of an adventure in town which we had not done before, as this is a 5 star hotel, we assumed we would at least be able to get around in it. Not so. There is no wheelchair access at all, you have to take a run the baggage ramp ! If you have a bog-standard collapsible wheelchair like us, then we just scraped into the lift - it is TINY. If you are in a wheelchair yourself you cannot get yourself in as your fingers will not fit next to the wheels when you push yourself. There is no loo in reception, you have to take the lift downstairs. Food in the main buffet restaurant is so-so, my wife felt it was not warm enough. When she mentioned it to the staff we got a free meal in the a la carte restaurant which is on another planet it is SOOOOOO good !! Mattress in the bedroom was amazingly comfy, much better than our own at home which is good in itself. Location of the hotel is great as opposite the beach (just main beach road outside) and close to everything. Rethymnon is by far the better city/town than Heraklion of Chania. Not too small but not too big - just right. So, I'd say if you were an able-bodied person, this is a great hotel to stay at and I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5. But for a 5 star, in Europe, I'm amazed that it does not cater for access for wheelchair users. Yes, I know it was built long ago, but these days there's always a solution, even at least to getting in the place.
