We booked as a party of 8 for a 60th birthday.Arrived at 3.45pm checking in was supposed to be 4pm..Only 1 room was ready we could have the keys for that and wait..we didn't mind waiting until4pm..At 4.45pm the rooms were still not ready..We went out and left all belongings in1room.Paid for all rooms on arrival..Got back to hotel given the other room keys.2 staff and 1 barmaid running the whole hotel!!..No cook,no cleaner,no receptionist. Went to bed rooms were acceptable but not clean..Toilet seat broke, stained carpet, used face masks left on floor in corner, the only good thing was fresh bedding..Got up at 8.30am for breakfast All downstairs facilities locked..Rang the hotel.owner answered from bed it's too early to ring me..!We paid for bed and breakfast! He unashamedly told us if we wait until 11am we can have tea and toast . We therefore walked into town and paid for a breakfast in a wonderful cafe..The owner is apparently new in the brentwood, he has no hospitality skills whatsoever. No manners,no staff and no idea how to cater for customers. SHOCKING..AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Will be back to visit for a 3rd time :)

Reviewed By NinaWest78

Our 2nd visit - we will be back for a 3rd :) We found this pub with rooms last year & were placed in the same room out of 11 on this occasion. It’s very close to the funfair & has a charming village green and tyre swing with parking both in front of the pub The rooms and beds are lovely and have everything you could expect to be provided. Plenty of tea and coffee also. Quality beds & a lovely hot power shower over a bath. We ate breakfast and evening meals here twice. Excellent breakfast & more than ample choice for dinner which was provided quickly given how busy the pub was. No complaints about the food whatsoever, we were all very happy. The food was delicious & hot. Great staff - we missed saying hi to Wendy this time as she wasn’t working on this visit. The other managers & staff were all excellent however with no complaints at all, they couldn’t do enough for their guests and service with a smile throughout. Special mention must be made of Morgan who was an absolute star & my children loved him! A real asset to our visit. I came a lot to Porthcawl fair as a child , but had not been back for some years until last year, due to family bereavements of those who took me , meaning I am the eldest left in my family and a single mum of 2. I am so glad I brought my children to the fair and that we found this gem of a pub with rooms to stay in. Even though we are going to Florida later this summer, all my children had asked me to do is go back to Porthcawl & to stay here!!! I am so glad we stayed here again. We can’t wait to come back and maybe our 3rd visit to room 1 Happy customers 5*

Sunday Lunch

Reviewed By Mezza197

Great experience at the Fairways today for Sunday lunch. Food was really good. The only down side is that there was no menu option for a vegetarian Sunday lunch. The only veggie option was potato gnocchi which did not come with the Sunday lunch trimmings. All six of us enjoyed the food. No room for dessert. Worth a visit.
