"Hotel Residenza Petra" is a renovated baronial building that preserved some parts of the original architecture and the "arte povera" period style. It is in the historic centre of Petralia Soprana, the highest village of the mountain chain of Madonie, at 1147 metres above sea level. Here silence is not a luxury and life flows slowly between evocative landscape and breathtaking sunsets. Fresh air, greenery and nature are excellent cure, both for adults and for children, to free your mind and your body from the stess built up in the cities.

The town is lovely with fantastic views across the valley. The house is very nice, very rustic and full of character. However, it's located right on the roadside so you can hear everything outside including cars and motorbikes. I didn't sleep very well, which is unfortunate because it's so nice inside. Our room had a table and chairs, a fridge, tv, coffee and tea making facilities too. The breakfast was very nice, homemade croissants and homemade jam. The bathroom is private but located outside the room. The doors of the room were difficult to lock and although the decoration is very nice, the bathroom was a bit of a let-down. Firstly, there is a bin next to the toilet for toilet paper (and a sign asking you to use it), which I didn't like and the shower is very small and not comfortable. (I'm quite small but if you're a big person, you would find it very difficult). The water pressure is low so the shower is not at all powerful. Personally, I felt uncomfortable in the bathroom.

I'm very spoiled when it comes to travel and this place met all my expectations. Away from the crowds, beautiful modern rooms and surroundings and the couple who own the place are amazing hosts. The food deserves a Michelin star. I wouldn't hesitate to book this place a must when visiting Sicily.

This bed and breakfast is fashioned from 200 year old homes. The paths are original cobblestones. Although rustic in nature, with the original stone walls in tact, you have every modern convenience. Riccardo is a wonderful host! He is kind and accommodating. He took us to the grocery store and to a local farm for fresh eggs. He taught us how to use the espresso maker and peeled us some delicious prickly pears. When we had a car problem, Riccardo was instrumental in getting it solved. We so enjoyed getting to know him! This place is so peaceful. It is ideal for visiting Mt. Madonnie, and the charming unspoiled towns of Petrolia Sottana and Petrolia Soprana. This is the heart of Sicily. It is a preserved gem! We treasure our memories of Eleutheria and Riccardo!!!

I'm very lucky to have been able to visit my close friend who was born and raised in Sicily for a month in December-January. He showed me every inch of Sicily from the cities, to the sea and the country, it's been amazing. But nothing comes close to my experience at the Borgata Cipampini. I spent my 27th birthday in this peaceful, mountainous, gorgeous town that feels like you've stumbled out of a time machine when you walk through. It's a very small town, but the locals were very happy to see us and greeted us warmly. The hosts, Patrizia and Diego, are extremely accommodating. They feel like your family more than they feel like hosts. Diego prepared us breakfast and dinner during our one day stay and even made me a pasta cake and then turned off the lights and brought in a candle-lit birthday cake for me. It was the best cake I've ever had and Diego's cooking is amazing along with Patrizia's conversation about the food, town, and life in general. They also gave us our space and own time in our room, which was very clean and cozy. This place is the heart of Sicily and I will continue to revisit this place in the future.
