Popularly referred to as Ooty, this gem among southern hill resorts is covered in eucalyptus and pine trees and coffee and tea plantations. On a clear day, it's possible to see as far as the Mysore plateau from Dodabetta Peak, the district's most prominent viewpoint. The Stone House, a landmark 1822 bungalow, and St. Stephen's Church are remnants of the area's first British settlement. Also noteworthy: formal botanical gardens, a children's mini-garden and a contemporary art collection.

Perched at one of the highest points in Ooty, this resort has an amazing view of the Nilgiris. Sterling Ooty Fern Hill is set in an alluring scenic location, surrounded on all sides by the ethereal beauty of the Nilgiri Hills. The resort’s sloping roofs and terracotta tiles are reminiscent of the quaint charm of a bygone era. With a heady mix of comfort and tranquility, spending time within the resort is as attractive an option as venturing into the idyllic mountainside.
Just wanted to convey a huge “Thank You” to the wonderful staff at Sterling Fernhill, for their excellent support during our stay last week. Right from Prem at the top, to Aftab, Srinivas and Anita in Housekeeping - everyone ensured that we had a perfect stay, despite the resort being completely full. Hope to make another beautiful memory with them shortly!

We went for a family trip and stayed there for around 8 days.. Our experience was a mix of both good n bad one.. But the person who truly deserves applaud is Mr Sivakumar, event manager.. He kept us entertaining throughout and also helped us to ignore the negatives, if any. If we revisit Ooty in future, then it will be obviously for the beauty of Nilgiris, hot masala tea n of course for Mr Sivakumar.

Sterling Ooty Elk Hill is a small and tranquil set up with incredible views of the surrounding hills and valley. Amid lofty Nilgiri peaks and low passing clouds, the sloping roofs and terracotta tiles of the resort emerge and vanish. I paid 10K/day (12K with GST) and would say that its not worth even half this price. Looks like they have variable pricing and unfortunately I booked at the last minute during peak summer holidays, when I didn't have much choice. When you pay 10K/night, you expect spacious room, nice scenic view, delicious breakfast etc etc.. This one had none... leave alone all that, they didn't even have room heater. The room was not spacious at all...TV connection had only free channels :(.. Breakfast place was small & cramped and couldn't accommodate more than 15-20 people at a time. We have to wait for our turn for couple of days.... Breakfast didn't have much choices and the taste was not up to the mark frankly... Staff are courteous and polite.. Cleanliness aspect is also okay.. But still its nowhere close to 10k/night pricing.

Hotel Lakeview sits pretty on an 8 acre stretch of land, on the sensuous terraced slopes of a hill offering a magnificent double spectacle. Even at an ambling pace, you can reach the boathouse in 10 minutes flat, or the bus stand in 15 minutes. The complex has easy access to every part of the town and beyond.Experience the pleasure of living besides Ooty lake with family and friends in the Queen of Hill station. The largest and the most exclusive hill resort in Ooty, Lakeview consists of 123 specially designed, fully independent luxury cottages. Hotel Lakeview is where you begin to experience Ooty.
We stayed for one night at the Lakeview, during our recent trip to Ooty. The check-in was smooth. The resort is well-spread out over several levels, our rooms (Villa) were at the lowest level, implying a climb and alight of around 50-70 steps one way from the room to the reception / restaurant. Seniors and others with physical limitations should bear this in mind. The villa itself was spacious, although a shower curtain and a larger mirror somewhere in the room would have been helpful. Also, there is no lakeview (its only in the name), although the lake (Honeymoon Boat House) is quite close by. The worst part was the dinner. At the time of our stay (last week of May 2022), the restaurant was clearly under-staffed, and overwhelmed. We had to wait for 40-45 minutes, before getting a table. While cleaning the table, the leftovers were simply shoved below the table which was disgusting to say the least. After getting the table, it took almost 20-25 minutes for the food to be served. Every basic thing from serving spoons to cutlery to tissue paper had to be fought for. In fact one of the dishes we ordered was never served -- apparently because we had informed this to one of the servers rather than the captain. This was totally strange and ridiculous. Breakfast the next morning was again a similar (though less painful) experience. It didn't have a buffet, breakfast had to be ordered a la carte. The hotel management really needs to beef up its staff strength, and make it commensurate with the hotel size. Tip - if possible, avoid eating at the restaurant in Lakeview.

A place of divine beauty, which will mesmerize your senses. An enchanting place 7350 ft above sea level that overlooks the Emerald Lake in the most splendid form. Lying pretty in the picturesque slope of Yellakandi on Avalanchi Road is Western Valley Resorts. A winding, climbing road through the tea gardens leads to this exotic resort, spread over 1.65 acres amidst landscaped greenery..
I had been to Ooty (29-May-22 to 31-May-22) with family and stayed in Western Valley Resort which is 14 KM from city center. Quiet and Peaceful place to stay. The scenic view is breathtaking, this hotel gives you the perfect experience of nature. Surrounded by tea gardens, you can view hills as well. Food was delicious, Breakfast complimentary. The resort has a restaurant where either you can dine in or get room service. Weather was pleasant & rainy. Service from resort staff was very prompt in simple words staff is well trained. I strongly recommend this resort for those who are looking for a very relaxed and quiet experience from the hustle and bustle town experience. We enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again in this resort and highly recommend for those who are looking for a great place in and around Ooty.

Place: The hotel is so big and the view from this hotel is so pretty. I was just mesmerized by the scenic view. Staff: The staffs are very friendly. They took special care of our needs. We wanted laundry for our child's cloth (as he vomited). They considered it and helped us out with the laundry. Food: The food is so good. Breakfast is buffet and dinner is buffet/a la carte. The buffet has so wide variety. We stayed there for 3 days and the items were not repeated. Overall we had a very nice experience staying there. Would recommend this place to family and friends. And if we are visiting Ooty again, we would love to stay here again.

Firstly, we had booked a one night stay at this property. This property is situated quite far from ooty ( around 20kms) and the road to this property is highly uncomfortable and can only be traversed by a truck. This is what will probably keep me away from booking this property next time. Also, the prices are very steep considering everything. Coming to the good part, the property itself is huge and wonderful, in the lap of nature. The staff is very very accomodating, especially when I told them about the road they mentioned they can't do much about it as its forest land. They have well maintained farm animals, a lovely small hike in the morning ( though not recommended for kids or really old people) especially after rains and had a wonderful breakfast spread. Though the initial reaching to the hotel was problematic, I would say this resort left me with a feeling of peace because of the lovely people , the scenic beauty and the farm animals that I got to interact with. These animals are well taken care of and this place leaves you with a feel of contentment.
