Nice Hotel with Excellent Service
Reviewed By HaerleI was travelling with my two children, 13 & 10 and we had a great stay in Oceanside. The staff at the hotel were consistently helpful. We arrived late at night and checked into our King with Sofa room. I realized after getting in, partially unpacked and the sofa bed made up, that this was not ideal and I should have got two queens instead, so I phoned and asked if it was possible to move. Carmen was very kind and helpful. She asked if I preferred to move right then, or the next day for the following two nights. When I said I preferred to move right away she found us the closest room possible to make this easier for us. I know we would have caused some extra work for the hotel having to go in a do a bit of extra cleaning and tidying after us, but Carmen did not make me feel that I was causing any inconvenience at all. We felt very welcomed. The next morning my kids were late getting down for breakfast and the staff kindly served them anyway. This was our experience the whole time. Thanks to Carmen, Agustin, Junior and the whole team for making our stay so enjoyable.

If it is the beach you are interested in, they have a cute retro trailer just down the stairs at the edge of the sand where they provide beach chairs, towels and umbrellas which are set up for you by the friendly staff. I love this place and can't wait to go back

Reviewed By Rich SThe clerk that checked me in said it best, ‘lots of folks look down by the water but the savvy travelers usually end up here.’ Exceptionally clean and comfortable hotel with excellent service and a universally friendly and knowledgeable front desk team. On day one, the front desk went out of their way to get me coffee when the cafe was closed- several good dining recommendations and always a friendly greeting on the way in and out. Very well located, $12-15 Uber to the Strand and with competitive rates for a very pricy area. If you have any memberships or discounts, you won’t find a better price without dropping down a tier in quality. Our son now lives in the area and this could be our go to.

When we got home a day or so later my husband realized he didn’t have his drivers license. He called the hotel and the guy at the desk told him they had it, when asked if it could be mailed to him the guy said he would have to ask his manager. My husband called back a day later to see if the manager was in and this time the girl at the desk told him the manager was not there and she was going to be out for a couple weeks. He then asked her if they still had the license at the front desk and she kept saying her manager would be back in a couple weeks and hung up on him. He tried calling back about 3 times and she would not answer the phone. He finally had to drive down there to get it. I’m not sure who is running this place but whoever they have working at the front desk needs to go. We will not be staying here again.

Days Inn is within walking distance to Oceanside Harbor and Beach. The hotel is right next to the main gate of Camp Pendleton. Legoland is 10 minutes away. San Diego Zoo, the Wild Amimal Park and Sea World is 30 minutes south of the Days Inn. Disneyland is an hour drive from the hotel.
No Hot Water
Reviewed By Steve SThe hotel was in average location but Central to the Oceanside area. When we got inside the room, there was no hot water. We had already unpacked, and getting ready to go out to dinner. The maintenance people were not on site and could not be contacted, and so after dinner we had to repack our goods and move to different rooms.

The main gate of MCB Camp Pendleton is only 750 yards from the hotel and Government Per Diem Rates (with meal credits) are offered, great for TDY, TAD, and PCS.

Reviewed By P2756MDderekwUpon check in I was greeted by a surly lady who didn’t seem to be very interactive and very monotone. Not what you expect when you’ve travelled all day from the UK. Bear minimum of interaction. Not even a remark about being a platinum member or any acknowledgement. In fact still waiting for my welcome points to be credited. She said they would be done on check out. Not had that before and 6 days later still waiting. On check in I presented my card which she said was declined I tried again numerous times and she just said ‘NOT AUTHORISED’ very robotically . After the forth attempt. Tried a different card which she used the same monotoned reply. Then I said I think it’s your machine not my cards. Another guest had the same issue while she looked miserable and didn’t communicate with me. Alas it was a system fault but no apology. Took my id and credit card and photocopied it without returning it to me. I had to ask all the questions about the facilities breakfast times and pool area. Very slack and not a great experience. I think this hotel has got complacent. Good points are the rooms are big if dated and free parking. The maintaince guy was really helpful and polite. Maybe he should train the front desk staff !!!

Overall decent place, seems rooms do need maintenance though.
Reviewed By Brandon ELocation and exterior of property is fantastic, and the ocean view from our rooms were awesome. We were originally assigned to room 158, but after finding out that our door lock was stuck from the inside (could only open door from outside), we moved to a similar room a few doors down. Both rooms were about equal in cleanliness, however the carpet definitely needs a lot of love/replacing in room 155. Also, some fixtures in each room are close to falling apart, in 158 the toilet paper holder and in 155 the ceiling fan above the dinner table. Bathtub was rusted out in 155. Bed and sofa sleeper were overall clean and comfortable, so that’s a plus.
