First I phoned the hotel twice, there was no answer both times. I then showed up to be greeted by nobody. I stood and waited for about 5 minutes before somebody came. The rooms are relatively clean the coffee maker cord does not reach the outlet so u have to move it. The air conditioner sounds like a Boeing 747 taking off. Other then that good

Ok. Not the greatest but not the worst in that area. Hotels are few and far between. The location is great. The rooms are sub par. Heat/AC did not work the greatest at all. The rooms definitely had smokers i. Them, so a very stale air. My tub did not drain great and my toilet was hit or miss if it would flush….rooms had fridge, microwave, desk all the necessities. Just need major overhaul.

Trip cancelled due to Covid restrictions I was planning a “Mental Health” weekend. No spouse, no pets. A new set of four walls to stare at. Sadly, even though things are starting to re-open, under current restrictions, my reservation had to be cancelled. I am looking forward to being able to stay in the future though, as every staff member who has replied to my questions has been simply wonderful. I can only imagine that I would have had a truly relaxing weekend with these amazing people! Looking forward to the day when restrictions Life enough that I can come stare at their four walls! LOL

We have added more sanitizing and disinfecting to our regular high standards of cleaning. And we offer wipes and sanitizer when you arrive and each time you return. We do HIGH RECOMMEND masks for the shops in town so please bring them with you. A charming lakeside home in luxe cottage décor for your home away from home. Two beautiful bedrooms await you - two full sized private baths, and a delicious 3-course breakfast. Open 7 days/week from June 1 - October 15 and every weekend year round or phone for special arrangements during the week.
Mighty of been a lovely stay but we were made to feel unwelcome before arrival. The preference is for visitors who have taken vaccines. As we did not disclose our medical history then we were told we would not feel comfortable and suggested we cancel our reservation. We should have been allowed to decide whether we feel comfortable or not wearing a mask which is the expected protocol advertised on their site anyway. All we wanted was a place to stay overnight. No offer was made to serve breakfast on a tray in keeping with distancing protocols. By the way we were fine with no breakfast as we would of preferred grabbing it on the go. There was no mention of their preference on the website perhaps because that would be discrimination. We cancelled our reservation not because of being discriminated against but in the end our date didn't work.

I do remember visiting this place back in August 24th but I forget the year but it was no more than 5 yrs ago.. When I drove p to the castle grounds I was greeted by the owners outside on the grounds. She was quite attractive lady and her daughter also helped run the place. They greeted me as i drove their. The grounds were nice and large. i had a nice room with a view of the grounds and backyard.. The owner brought me up a beer and some cheese. She was quite good looking I have to say. I enjoyed myself while I was there. They even provided me with some bicycles to ride around the neighborhood. The meals were OK for me I didin,t mind them. I like Port Dover area as I have been there several times before. I will come back again.

Stayed at this cottage resort before and always a great experience. Under new ownership this year and our one week stay was terrible. At least 30 Flys in the cottage on arrival and squashed flies were left on the windows. Tons of spiders and good thing we brought spider spray as they must of skipped out of the local spider spray worker. No propane tank on BBQ on arrival and BBQ was filthy. They offered to have someone clean it on our 5th day. We said forget it. Owner had no one on site for 4 days so had to bag our own dirty towels and put in linen shed. Left after 5 days as got tired of looking through fly stained windows. Felt like no one really cleaned the place on our arrival. Much better cottagecrentals in the area. Skip this one.

Long Point Eco-Adventures is a wonderfully situated property. It has great access to hiking and mountain biking trails and a very nice view of the marsh from the restaurant and the boardwalk. We stayed for three nights in one of the Elite Pods. The Elite Pods are much more expensive than the other pods I'm assuming because of the Queen-sized bed and private shower. Please see my comments on the Elite Pods below. I'd like to offer some constructive feedback for the owners. I think this property and management team has great potential with some adjustments. The first recommendation would be to improve the cleaning regiment a bit. The pod itself, when we arrived was not overly clean. The top of the fridge, the floors and the fan were dusty (particularly the fan...that really needs a good cleaning). Also, there was, what I assume to be dog hair on the bed. The second recommendation would be to improve site/pod maintenance. When we arrived, one of the bolts on the toilet seat was completely missing. This was obviously a problem and I imagine would have been obvious to the last staff member who had cleaned it? Anyway, we let staff at check-in know on Friday night and they said no one would come to fix it until Saturday. When staff came by Saturday, we asked if they were coming to fix it, but they didn't know anything about it, they were dropping by firewood. We told them about the issue. It wasn't until much later that day that when we flagged down a third employee that it was dealt with and then fixed. In addition, the keys to the pods are VERY sticky and difficult. It seems as though the door knobs and/or keys could use replacing. The third recommendation would be for improvement to procedures/feedback with staff. In addition to the toilet seat issue, we had trouble opening our door with the key and had to get someone from the front desk. We then somehow didn't unlock the door properly and locked ourselves out. The main desk seemed to have trouble finding a replacement key. It's fairly common for people to lock themselves out of hotel rooms, etc., I think it would be good to improve policies around this and be prepared for this eventuality. The fourth recommendation is around sustainability. This place is advertised as an 'Eco' adventure but there were some questionable sustainability practices. The site is lovely and has tremendous habitat for birds, turtles and other animals. However, it seems as though the kindling being brought to each pod or tent is scrub from the property. In addition, I saw other guests walking through sensitive habitat, grabbing grass and twigs and putting them in their fire pit. I think that it would be good to have better signage/awareness around avoiding impacting the environment as much as possible. In addition, our friends in a neighbouring pod had no recycling bin in their pod. The fifth recommendation would be the design/layout of the Elite Pods. The Elite Pods have a Queen sized bed right when you open the door. In other pods, it is at the back beside the shower. This awkward placement of the bed makes it very difficult to manoeuvre in and out of the pod. And there was no table inside or outside of the pod. I think some 're-imagining' of the layout and design would make a great improvement. While we overall enjoyed our stay, we really felt that with the price of the Elite Pods ($340 a night with tax on a weekend) should have meant that we had a very clean room with intact toilet and great service. We felt those things were lacking and if we did return, we certainly would avoid booking an Elite Pod, it was not worth the price for us.

Culverdene House is a heritage-designated home on 1.6 Treed acres just south of Simcoe close to Port Dover. Culverdene offers two spacious guest rooms each with a private bathroom and a living-dining room for the exclusive use of our guests.
We stayed 2 nights at this beautiful historic property and fully recommend it. Our hosts Roger and Joyce were fantastic in every way. They have a lovely living room for guest use, and immediately adjacent, the dining table where they serve us breakfast is also available for our use. This came in very handy for takeout during these COVID times! There is also a minifridge in the hallway for guest use, which to us was very handy to chill water thermoses pre-hikes. The whole place is spotlessly clean, lovingly decorated, and so comfortable, set a little bit back from the road amid the trees - one of which is more than 200 years old! Even the grounds are interesting. :)

My wife and I had been here earlier just after Covid and everything was excellent, so we decided to go with our daughter today. Excellent service again and as usual, great food. Freshly made with the best ingredients. Served hot. Fernando and his wife are excellent hosts. Also a wonderful drive through the forest on the winding road. If you like great Mexican food this is the place to eat.
