The main building and the chalets of Namib Desert Lodge are spread out along the foot of the fossilised dunes of the ancient Namib. A comfortable sojourn is guaranteed by 65 en suite rooms with air conditioning. A restaurant and bar, an inviting terrace with views of the fossilised dunes and two swimming pools beckon you to linger and relax. Oryx antelope and springbok make frequent appearances at our illuminated watering place.
Wt, have have just spent two nights in the tents. They are spaced far apart and have everything you need. Just a little way from the main lodge- so need to drive. No wifi at the tents. Amazing scenary. The service was not great- we often had to go and find someone so we could order a drink around the pool. The pool was ice-cold.Not a heated pool. We ordered the braai packs the one night. The meat was frozen and the steak extremely tough. We mentioned this on check out and deducted one braai pack from the bill. The potato salad and mixed green salad was delicious though. We arrived late and just wanted a light snack for dinner but there was a buffet. So guests have no choice - if you want to eat you need to then have the buffet. We felt this was a bit of a waste as we werent hungry enough to enjot the full buffet. Guests should be able to at least just order a toasted sandwich or pizza etc. The views are stunning and the setting very private and peaceful. About a 45 minute drive to get to the gate at the dunes. The gates open at 7am now.

Me and my wife spent 2 nights in the lodge . We felt like home . This lodge is property of our special guide Sven and his family , of the extravaganza team. It was our honeymoon and Ian, the chef, prepare a special and lovely 5 course menu . We strongly suggest it. The lodges are clean, with al necessary staff and with a big window on the amazing view of the landscape.

There is nothing quite like exploring untouched nature on foot. Enjoy our warm and welcoming hospitality and personalized service. Let us spoil you.We accommodate our guests in 11 luxury African style bungalows, all being fitted with a separate toilet and spacious shower. The rooms are nestled into their natural environment and offer a seemingly endless view across the Namib, bathing plants and animals in luminous colours of light.…. and a swimming pool with the most magnificent view in the entire Southern Africa!Because of its unique setting, Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge serves to be the ideal base for self drive daytrips to Sossusvlei, especially for the individual traveller, wanting to escape bulk tourism.
A nice lodge, about 10 km off the main solitaire road for a great 1 night stay…all units Sleeping 2 are cozy and quite small, but offer great views of the surrounding landscape. Breakfast and dinner is offered in the lodge, food is very good and choice is also good. A nice touch after a days drive is the opportunity to go for a hike around the local area for sunset views, or use the pool too relax. Note the pool really ice old and the swinging relax chairs are not especially comfortable even though in the pictures they look cool. More normal sub beds would be good…(only 2 when we visited) If you want or need WiFi don’t count on it working - the guest Wi-Fi frequently is offline and only works, if it works, in the main building….

The Soft Adventure Camp: The Soft Adventure Camp has been designed for easy tourists, overland tours, that do not want to spend much money, do not want to carry their own tents, have a simple but clean chalet with proper beds and private bathroom with shower. Each chalet is individually placed around the granite hill, each has its own car park - right next to the chalet. 2 sides of the chalets are canvas as from 1 m and the other 2 sides are normal chalet walls. The bathroom is tiled and has some open space between the walls and the roof. This has been closed with shade net. It is great - for its 'close to nature-feeling' and with outdoor enthusiasts it is greatly appreciated. The chalets only have a movable water-cooling system, which is not comparable with a proper high-speed & silent air-condition! The Soft Adventure Camp has a central main building, with central cooking facilities. Food is prepared In this open kitchen and served directly. If the wind should be blowing, the sides of this social gathering Place can be closed with canvas. There is a small bar in this unit. Individual guests, who have chosen this option are often taken to Namib Naukluft Lodge for their meals. The Soft Adventure Camp is app. 1.5 km away from the lodge and the distance can easily be walked. However, our guides and staff are also happy to transfer guests - for example in the evening.
We booked at the campsite but got a free upgrade to the lodge, which was just fabulous! Huge clean room with balcony with a view on the desert, equipped with fridge and nicely decorated. Extra comfy beds. I particularly enjoyed the setting of the lodge , in the heart of the Namib desert , convenient for visiting Sossusvlei. I loved having breakfast or dinner in the porch, watching oryx and springboks coming for a visit... this is also a magical place to admire the starry sky , engulfed by the silence of the desert, relaxing in the swimming pool...the only sound we would hear was the singing of birds , there are plenty of them , don’t forget to have a look at their magnificent, huge nests on the nearby trees . Food was simply delicious and the staff kind and helpful.. one evening cooks and waiters even performed a nice show for the guests, singing traditional namibian songs. If you leave early for visiting Soussusvlei , they can prepare a packed breakfast to bring with you. We will keep great memories of our stay there!

Solitaire, Namibia is a historic settlement near the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Midway between Sossusvlei and Swakopmund, it is a popular stop for travellers to shop at the original Tsondab General Dealer, eat lunch at Cafe van der Lee, visit McGregor's Bakery for fresh apple pie and espresso, and refuel at the petrol station. Solitaire has a well-maintained private airstrip: FYSO. Please visit our web site for more details. Solitaire Lodge features 25 spacious, modern, air-conditioned rooms wrapped around a courtyard pool and desert garden. Free WIFI is available for guests. The Solitaire Activity Centre offers Scenic Sundowner Drives, Night Drives, Fat Tire Bike Rentals, guided and self-guided hiking, all on the 45,000 acre Solitaire Land Trust (SLT). The SLT protects native habitat for numerous wildlife species, and is restoring former farmland degraded by drought and over-grazing. The SLT reaches from the base of the Great African Escarpment to the Namib, widely considered to be the oldest desert on the planet.
Solitaire is often just a stop on the way to Sesriem, but spending a night there was worth it. The lodge provides with large rooms with A/C and comfortable beds. The shower and toilets were in good order (don't open full throttle on the shower sometimes to have hot water, and do not hesitate to talk to reception if you don't have hot water) We were the only guests, so it made it even more special and were treated SO nicely by the people and owners. You can have a little walk behind the camp, enjoy the swimming pool, and take nice pictures around.

Capricorn Restcamp is situated next to the Naukluft Mountains making it an ideal stop-over en route from Windhoek to Sossusvlei or from the South to the coast. Just 40 km from the entrance to the Naukluft Mountain Park (D 854) the camp is a good start position or a comfortable basis for any excursion (hiking & 4x4) into this fascinating park. The four bungalows are all equipped with twin beds, own shower & toilet, warm water, terrace, fireplace (braai) and electric lights. Parking places are close to the bungalows. Free WIFI at the reception.
If it's peace and solitude you are looking for, this is the place you need. The bungalows are spacious and very clean. Pre-booked dinner and breakfast served with much attention to detail. Karsten's home-grown vegetables and herbs an additional bonus.

Essentially a very large hut. My wife and I loved the place. As others probably mentioned no internet in the rooms however you are in a very isolated place and are there to see the Namib Desert so the location was amazing. We saw a lone wildebeest practically in the camp which was so cool as it was our first of the trip. The rooms were very clean and kept well. Provided everything we needed with lots of privacy. Would definitely recommend it and would stay again.
