I stayed for one night at the Hotel Metropolitan - a great place for business or pleasure. Being located next to the station and the Midori shopping centre, location and convenience scores high, and the rooms although a little simple are comfortable. The shower and bathroom was very clean and modern. Excellent price and particularly during the goto campaign this makes for a nice spot to stay for a short trip.

To start with the very good. The room, a suite with around 55 m², was very nice. Especially if you consider to get this with the current subsidy from the government for around 220 USD including breakfast. But also for the regular price I consider this a fair deal. If you go here with the family, be careful. The TV installed in the shower room also features Japanese adult videos. I tried to change from CNN to a Japanese TV channel with the channel up/down button and ended up there. Even though you always get a smile, the service is on the lower end. Work according to the manual, no flexibility. This in all areas. One small example: Ordered an ice cream which is promoted on the TV screen at the entrance of the restaurant around 6 PM. But this was refused because they only serve this until 5 PM. The restaurant was empty though. Summarizing I can say it is very recommendable if you stay in the room. Don’t expect any service outside your room except in the executive lounge where they tried hard and were very good.

We are a family with 9 and 7 years old boys staying at this hotel for a ski holiday. We really enjoyed our stay there, the little wood house we stayed was very close to ski chair lifts, made it so much easier for all of us. The outlet next to the hotel had a wide range of restaurants to choose from. A few inconvenience stores at outlet to cover what we need. Great bargains at outlet too. Could managed to shop and ski without moving to another hotel. Very good experience and would love to visit again!

Hotel
It's an Imperial Hotel but this one is more down to earth than the main quarter in Tokyo. What should be highlighted is not just the red roof that stands out from afar, but its service. All the staffs I met were kind, friendly and courteous and they were very well trained. The food was excellent. We chose Japanese cuisine for dinner even though the French was their expertise, and they did not disappoint us at all. We got a room with balcony that has a wonderful view of Hodaka. Breakfast is served at the table. Very comfortable and hope to come back soon.

I really enjoyed staying here. The room was comfortable with nice furnishings. The room temperature was good. Check in was a little awkward, not sure why it’s automated when there were three staff manning reception. But everyone was friendly. Good location right near train station.

Kamikochi Heights is one of the most scenic mountains of Japan. Our hotel is by the famous bridge, Kappabashi, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Sit back and enjoy Western style cuisin.
We visited Kamikochi in late May and were delighted to find this hotel was open. I believe it was the only hotel open at the time, given COVID and recent earthquakes. We had a comfortable room with an amazing view of the Japanese Alps. Just like on their website. For dinner we chose the Japanese course, which was fine. The service was excellent. I think this hotel might have the best mountain views of any of the hotels in Kamikochi. The outside porch is amazing. I believe there might have only been one or two other rooms taken when we were there and we were appreciative of the efforts made to make us comfortable.

Mingei Philosophy Matsumoto Lifestyle,Simple Beyond Beauty Born as an inevitable product of the culture out nature and tradition. The name has been cultivated and polished by the passing of time and accumulation of history. There within lies the essence of beauty.Though plain and simple,it is natural and familiar like water, and thus comfortable and spontaneous.Time spent in a natural present state.Matsumoto Hotel Kagetsu, arustic hotel for everyday use.
When I booked the hotel, the reviews made me think that it would be good but not amazing. However I was really disappointed. Although not terrible, this hotel was below my standard. Within a short walk to the amazing Matsumoto Castle, the hotel seemed like a nice historic place to stay and enjoy. The hotel itself is rather plain and uninteresting. The room was big but not cozy or really comfortable. The elevator smelled like gasoline as did the basement floor where the women's bath is located. The public baths are small and uninteresting as well. We did not eat dinner here. The breakfast buffet was good. Now, on to the service. Although not rude, the service was cold and overly rule oriented. Although I realize the check-in time is 15:00, most places will not hold on to this dogmatically and to the minute. In other words, if the room is available then let your guests settle in. On this day it was raining, constant and hard, so most guests were cold and wet when they arrived as we were. At 14:10 when I asked if our room was ready the lady at the front dest pretended to check her watch and just no, please wait until 15:00. She didn't check if rooms were ready, but rather preferred the strict rule and have guests, many with children, sit around cold and wet in the lobby. Rules are more important than your customers. I don't agree with that. It is below my standard. On to breakfast, schedule to start at 6:30. We arrive at 6:28 and the lady (different lady) rather aggressively told us to go sit in the lobby rather that stand and wait for 2 minutes. That 2 minutes before 6:30 seemed very offensive for her. So when it came to parking no person came out to greet us or help us. Not normal or good. However I parked in front and headed in, then I was approached and told that I should not park there. Not sure why, but I asked where and was told that there is a parking lot around the corner. So I headed out to the car and started to move when I was approached and told that the parking lot was full. So I asked where I should park and was told that sorry the parking lot was full. So can I stay here? No. Where? the parking lot is full. So where do I park? The parking lot is now full, maybe some people will leave. I got fed up and just walked back into the hotel. A man then said that if I give him my key he will move my car when more spaces open up. Thank you. The next morning, my car was still there, had not been moved, and other cars were parked around me. That was not good reception. Below my standards. Dogmatic adherence to rules is more important than guests. Politeness does not hide that. Below my standards. Disappointed I cannot recommend this hotel.
