The hotel decor definitely has a dark and gloomy 90s vibe to it, but it's well kept up and everything was clean and worked well. At night, the exterior doors are locked, which isn't unusual but I did have to come in late one day and my room key didn't open the side doors; the front door said to use the intercom, but nobody answered that; I finally called the front desk (which I could see from the front door) and let it ring until someone finally came over to let me in. That was kind of annoying. I also noticed what seemed like an unusual amount of noise from the hallway, neighboring rooms, and upstairs. Some of that might have been noisy neighbors, I guess, but I could clearly hear and understand conversations going on in the room next to me which isn't what I would expect.

My room in building c smelled like someone vomited in it. Fortunately, there were two doors to the room, so we aired it out. The furnishings and decor are very old and run down. The bed caused us to slide toward the middle. It was a large room, but we didn't need that. The air conditioning and shower pressure were fine.

The young man that checked us in couldn't really be bothered but rattled off the check in procedure. The room was not very big but big enough for us Europeans. It smelled nice, better than the funky smell in the foyer caused by the indoor swimmingpool. The carpet was very clean and the bathroom had plenty of towels, a curved waterrod and great waterpressure. The mattrasses were too soft, felt like we were in a hammock and had a comforter and sheets. We didn't hear any noise in or outside the hotel at night. The breakfast is below average, no fruits and no breads ? when we were there.

This place is way rough around the edges. I got a decent price through Hotwire, but would've gladly paid more to stay someplace else a little nicer. My guest room showed considerable signs of wear. Wood surfaces and furniture were beat up and the walls were stained and in need of a paint job. The left side of the queen mattress in room 101 was shot. Luckily the right half of the mattress was in good shape so I could get in some decent sleep. Multiple warnings are posted about wearing masks in public spaces, but the clerk who checked me in was not wearing hers correctly, leaving her entire nose exposed. What's the point, ma'am?

After two room changes the owner was still refusing to refund our money. Spent two hours outside through the whole ordeal. Finally got refunded after a terrible experience. The manager had to call the owner to get approval to refund our money even though we never used the room. The owner must keep the manager in total fear.

Owner was nasty and aggressive while trying to get me to sign paperwork with amounts different from what I was charged. He then said he "knows what kind of person I am". It was bizarre, unpleasant, and unnerving. My husband thinks he was hitting the scotch at lunch, not sure but was either not sober or unstable. I felt bad for the woman working front desk. We went to the days inn down the street..... day and night difference!

Stayed here 3 unfortunate nights while visiting the beautiful Black Canyon National Park. I read the reviews before booking and was OK with it being an older place. Other reviews said the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. My first experience with the front desk was trying to reserve 2 rooms. Was going to do it on line but had to make two separate reservations instead of being able to book the two rooms at once. Their website showed one price but when I called the desk, they wanted to charge something higher. When I explained their website stated another price, I was told to book on line and hung up on. The rooms are a decent size. The furniture looks like it came out of a crack house. It's very old, cracked, stained. The table was sticky. The chairs (fabric) were filthy. The bed spread in my room looked like it was from the 60's and hadn't been cleaned since then. My friends had a more modern bed spread from the 70's. The sheets at least did seem fresh and clean. The floor was filthy. I had dressed for bed and had walked around the room a few minutes barefoot. They were black when I went to get into bed. The molding around the door frame of the bathroom was falling off. When we came back after a day at the park, we found a note on the door to come to the front desk. For some reason, there was no longer hot water in the building we were in. We were offered other rooms to move to or to just use for showers. There was no offer to help us move our belongs and there was no cart to use to do so. We opted to just use the other rooms to shower in. They were just as nasty and outdated as the ones we were in. We were there for 2 more nights and the hot water issue had yet to be repaired but he time we checked out. The continental breakfast was nothing more than coffee and prepackaged pastries and bars. No tea, no hot chocolate, no other edibles. Most in my party do not drink coffee nor eat pastries especially prepackaged. Our rooms weren't serviced daily. The small trash can was over flowing before they finally emptied it. The beds were never made. The towels were changed only once. Speaking of the towels, they were horrible. Thin, ruff, small. When I asked for a partial refund because of the hot water fiasco and the nastiness of the rooms, I was told "absolutely not." The sad thing is this could be a quaint little motel if the owner would invest some money into it. I was told the Black Canyon Inn is a better place to stay.
