A stunning four AA Red Star country house hotel, near to Bath, Longleat & Lacock. The outdoor heated pool is gorgeous in the summer, whilst in the winter open fires are as warm as the welcome. Enjoy the beautiful grounds, a delicious lunch, traditional afternoon tea, bar snacks or fabulous two AA Rosette dining. Friendly yet professional staff complement this wonderful building. Free superfast Wifi is available throughout the hotel, terrace and walled garden. We will ALWAYS match or beat any rate offered by the online travel agents.
I had a reasonably comfortable stay in a hotel with lots of potential that hasn't yet been realized. The hotel is clearly in the midst of an upgrade, with lots of new decor and renovations. The staff is very friendly and helpful and my dinner and breakfast were more than acceptable and fairly priced. I found the room to be somewhat small but generally quite comfortable and the desk area was was convenient with lots of light and outlets for my many electrical accessories. I had difficulty getting my luggage up the front steps to the reception area. There was no one available to assist, and the fact that there was a step-free entrance to my room didn't help since I had no way of knowing about it before checking in. The bathroom light comes on as one enters and stays on, with enough wattage to do brain surgery. At 2 in the morning this is not a welcome event. The two "lounge" chairs in the room are reasonably attractive but singularly uncomfortable and designed for veryveryvery short people. This from a person who is five feet tall. In general, the hotel felt like it was trying hard to overcome a decline.

After being closed for over a year The Pear Tree Inn has been carefully restored as a farmhouse kitchen with bar & rooms. It has a relaxed & rustic appeal to the locally sourced menu & reclaimed quirky decor. An old stone build farmhouse with rug strewn flagstones & reclaimed timber flooring. It features worn wooden tables with mismatched furniture and linen napkins. The Pear Tree Inn will showcase the best local suppliers with a menu guided by the seasons. It also offers overnight guests eight contemporary individually decorated rooms split between the Inn & a beautifully converted barn
So picturesque- a pretty old stone inn set in a beautiful English Country Garden. Spring at its best with daffodils blooming. Once inside a warm welcome and shown to our room, The Commis, situated within the hotel itself, overlooking the main courtyard. Huge snuggly bed, bath/shower with oh so fluffy big white towels. Good supply of tea/coffee, fresh milk, little homemade shortbreads - lovely homely touches everywhere. Flagstone bar areas with open log fires with two separate dining areas. Evening menu was very good indeed. Cod Loin was particularly tasty with generous amount of prawns. Save room for a sweet treat.....pear sorbet highly recommended! Breakfast - a selection of cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, croissants with home made preserves followed by a choice of hot dishes cooked to order. The staff are a jolly, young team who all seemed to love working there and always had time to stop and talk to you. We chose The Pear Tree as we love to stop in this type of establishment - quality inns with just limited rooms and with a reputation of good food and friendly staff. We got that all at The Pear Tree and look forward to a return visit.

This hotel is punching above its weight. It is recently renovated. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Tea, coffee and soft drinks were provided. Plenty of parking. Charming hosts, excellent breakfast.

We stayed as a family group of 6 and the owners were very thoughtful in giving us rooms that enabled us to use a sitting room/kitchen diner privately. The hosts couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and of a high spec and had very good en-suite bath/shower rooms. Continental breakfast worked well for us and there were good food options. The setting is rural and in lovely countryside- very peaceful and attractive. Couldn’t ask for more and would happily return and recommend.

Cleeve House is an 19th century country manor set in glorious countryside. It has eight B&B bedrooms, most with fantastic views across a valley. Four rooms currently with en suite bathrooms. We have double, single, twin and family rooms available - all with tea making and internet facilities. Our prices all include a full English breakfast served in the Tea Room. With high ceilings, oak beams, and quirky carvings around every corner, Cleeve House offers you an enjoyable stay in a place you will never forget.
A beautiful old house, with a grand hall, warm welcome & a warm room (end of Feb). Very spacious bedroom & bathroom but lacking a wardrobe, just one hook on back of door is insufficient. The bathroom was also spacious but very dated but at least the water was hot. More importantly the room itself was very clean & a comfy bed, with superb views to the rear, was initially quiet but unfortunately our sleep was interrupted several times, as they allow dogs which I love, but not when they are pacing up & down the neighbouring room & you can hear their claws on wooden floor! Hostess was able to recommend the Barge Inn for dinner, only about 1m away & that was super. Breakfast ok but prefer fresh orange juice rather than concentrated & a decent coffee.

A family run guest house located within easy reach of the M4, Bath and Stonehenge. We are on the A350 within a 10 minute walk of the town centre. The guest house is a large Victorian house with separate lounge and dining room. We accept cash or credit/debit card payments.
Stopped over here on our way through Melksham and enjoyed our stay here. Good selection of breakfast in the morning and the beds were comfortable. While it is on the main road, it is very very quiet at night and had no trouble sleeping.
