Reviewed By 834940The hotel I normally look to book was full so I ended up here. Clean property, friendly staff, plenty of parking and the internet service was solid. It is close to stores and restaurants and fits all of the needs I had. I will be returning to this one in the future.

Our first problem was immediately after being assigned a room and given our key card we went to the room only to find that neither of the 2 key cards worked. We had to return to the front desk to have them programed. Once inside the room I found that the note pad had the first 2 pages full of pictures. Then my wife said that in the bathroom we only had 1 washcloth and 1 bath towel. She tried to use the phone on the night stand in the room to call the front desk but found it did not work. She then tried the phone on the desk/eating table and it worked. She called the desk and informed them, the clerk immediately brought another wash cloth, bath towel and hand towel. When we were turning in for the night I turned on the light on the end table between the 2 queen beds and immediately seen the top of the table had not been cleaned, it had three rings from cups/glasses and something smirked on the top of the table. I got a couple of wet tissues and cleaned the table top. After we showered In the morning my wife was looking for the ice bucket to get some ic. She could not find any thing to put ice in. When we went to breakfast we were pleasantly surprised to find a hot breakfast with scrambled eggs and 2 different types of sausages, sausage gravy, hot cinnamon, hot pancakes. They also had a lot of cold muffins and bread. For drinks coffee, milk and a juice machine with a sign on the orange juice out of order the apple juice and lemonade were both working fine. I asked one of the employees if they had any biscuits to go along with the sausage gravy. I was informed they have been out of biscuits for 3 or 4 days. I will say that the eggs, sausage, gravy and warm cinnamon rolls were all very good. When we checked out I asked if they normally have ice buckets in the rooms cause ours did not have one. I was informed that several of the rooms did not have them because the guests keep stealing them. All the employees were very nice that we had contact with. The hotel is a newer one and in good condition. They have adequate parking.

Reviewed By WDMTravelerWe stayed at this hotel one night while visiting family in Mattoon. The front desk personnel were very friendly and our room was very clean. I reserved a handicap accessible room however the room we were assigned was not totally handicap accessible. There were grab bars beside the toilet, however there was a bathtub with grab bars, not a roll-in shower. The tub was too high for me to step into so I was not able to take a shower. Also the bathroom only had a sink and lacked any counter space to set personal items on. I realize a person in a wheel chair would need to roll up to the sink, however it would be nice to have a counter of some kind beside the sink, not just a tray on the wall. We also had considerable difficulty with the TV remote. It was hard to change channels and adjust the volume. The bed was ok - just could have been a little firmer. In addition, the walls were very thin - we could hear the TV and voices next to us. The breakfast was the standard breakfast fare. The scrambled eggs were kind of chunky however everything else was satisfactory. Our great granddaughter was extremely disappointed the pool was closed. We would stay in this hotel again, however in the future I will be more specific on my handicap accessible needs.

Clean rooms but needs updated
Reviewed By Pam SStayed here for 3 nights. The rooms were clean but very outdated. They were very friendly. The pool is completed closed and the only thing for breakfast was waffles and cereal. We had our baseball team here and wished they could have used the pool.

Fine for one night stay while on a driving trip
Reviewed By Explorer06543302635This was our 4th choice hotel in Mattoon. It was a Saturday night in March. The other hotels were all booked. We paid $107 plus taxes. We arrived at night and the signage and hotel property were very dimly lit. It appeared kind of sketchy. There were only a few cars in the parking lot. Our room was actually pretty good compared to our first impression of the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and it all seemed clean. The heater was noisy but we did get a good nights sleep. The breakfast was very minimal and disappointing. All that was offered was bottled water and apple juice boxes, granola bars, packaged sweet roll and some kind of packaged breakfast sandwich. This hotel was fine for a one night stay while on the road.

My Honest Opinion
Reviewed By RSB519I found this motel on Hotels.com and chose it based on location and price. The previous night I stayed at a Motel 6 and it was great. This one was not. My 1st room had a huge cricket on the curtains and I noticed animal hairs on the sheets. I called the front desk and they switched rooms. They said sometimes the crickets just jump in when the door opens. Room 2 appeared cleaner, bug-free, and the sheets were very clean and smelled good. In the morning I did find 2 crickets and a spider came out of the shower faucet. I can tell they did some recent remodels. It was fine for one night, but I would not stay there again.

Reviewed By kastbrownHad a 2 night reservation only to get to hotel and it is not in business. Totally shut down for renovation. Got emails saying looking forward to your stay, being charged for my stay, etc. But, hotel doesn't exist, called number, out of order doesn't work. Not happy.
