Really lovely apartment along the canals. Perfect location. Apartments are well equipped, well maintained, nicely furnished and the reception areas are pretty. In fact the apartments really do have everything you need. We were pleasantly surprised. This makes for a longer stay but also is a good option for a night or weekend break as the apartment actually has good basics such as coffee/ tea/ water/wine/ oil/ salt/ sugar etc available on hand or to buy at a reasonable price which makes for stress free travels especially for a short stay. There are many super restaurants close by, its easy walking to all the main shopping areas and attractions and the area was safe at night. Parking is available fairly close to the hotel. There is a lift/ elevator. An added bonus was the incredibly good service provided from booking - arrival - departure. They are an excellent team and it was efficient, friendly and personal throughout, including recommendations on what to do in the area and ideas on where to eat and all the ideas proved well chosen. As a result we experienced a more "local" Livorno and had a great city stay. All in all we were very happy with our choice and would return.

Grand Hotel Palazzo is an exquisite five-star hotel with breathtaking views of the Tirreno Sea, exuding the luxurious charm of over one hundred years of glorious history.
I had booked this 5 star hotel back in early March for a beautiful May holiday for my wife and I. It came in at around £850 for 7 nights 18th to 25th May. We arrived tired after a long journey at around 6.30 pm in a rental car from SIXT Pisa airport. It is 18 euros a night to park in the Hotel so I paid for 1 night and then each day parked outside on the road for 4.50 euros using the ticket machine opposite the Hotel! We had many problems in the room. Four times the room safe would not open and eventuually they put in a new battery. It still failed to open some times. Ringing 0 for help from reception - they never answered one had to go down to reception. The restaurant on 5th floor is not part of the Hotel and is very expensive so the 1st night we ate there and subsequent nights tried 4 nearby restaurants. breakfast was good but some of the waitresses seem to look down their noses at us and it was difficult to get coffee at the table. Bathroom: plugs were difficult to extracate, the bathroom was very dark, outside there was a lot of building works. Some positive points: some staff were good and helpful, there was a small area to swim around 400 metres away which I took advantage and the breakfast food was very good. A hotel that is 120 years old+ and with glorious history now fading in a city which is too industrialised!

Visited Il Romito 2 years go and had dinner twice. It was a wonderful experience in a place with wonderful view. This time the experince not so good I am sorry to say. The tast of the food was blend, not very fresh and simply not very enjoyable (we had deveral different dishes). I would describe the food as ”simple”, unfortunately. Maybe it will ve better next time?!

We came back to Livorno with the ferry and only stayed one night. We parked our car for a week in the car park literally next to the hotel so it was very convenient. It is a typical Italian hotel, meaning it could use some update and renovation BUT all is still well and very, very clean with a very big bathroom. I must add that the staff working there was absolutely lovely, from the guy who checked us in, to the night portier all the way to the guy who served us breakfast an checked us out. Breakfast is EUR 5 per person, it is a simple affair but still yummy and recommended for only EUR 5 per person. I would def come back - location wise it is in the heart of Livorno and you can walk everywhere.

The owners are super friendly and hospitable. Delicious crepe for breakfast (a chocolate lover's dream). Curzio took me on a SUP trip in Livorno, great way to enjoy the sea. He knows a lot about the region and can tell you some interesting stories. The swimming pool is big and clean and nice reclining chairs with parasol to rest on. If you feel like a little bit more action, you can practice your balance and surfing skills on the indoboard. Amazing view, recommended place to stay!

Got in and found out there was, indeed, two separate rooms in my suite. The bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed opened and ready for sleeping (linens plus cushions in place). As I was alone, I closed the sofa bed back to watch some TV series on my laptop. The TV (a tiny one) is in the bedroom and although you can move it, the antenna is only available at that position. The walls are a little worn out and could use a repaint but other than that everything looked fairly new. The bathroom was pristine but I can’t say the same about the bedroom, where I found a few chunks of dust lying around. They don’t serve dinner at the hotel but there’s a McDonalds 100 yards away that it’s open until 1 A.M. so it’s an easy choice. The breakfast was fair. No eggs or sausages but at least bread, cheese and ham in addition to the usual “all sweets” Italian breakfast. The real downer was the Internet. I felt like going back to the dial-up modem era. It took me 10 minutes to navigate the weather forecast and I gave up after that. It’s fair and appropriate for a short stay (1 or 2 nights),specially if you’re going to take the ferry, as it’s only 10 minutes away from the port.

The hotel while in a great location was let down by the rooms and noise. The room was dark and hot as the air conditioner wasn’t working. The Napier was from above and around the room as it echoes when people are walking or talking and there were a lot of unsupervised kids running around the corridors. The breakfast was continental and was very poor, not fresh and unappealing. On the plus side was a few minutes walk from the harbor and had some lovely restaurants around it.

In addittion a wide living room with fire, breakfast lounge and a very cured fruit garden with solarium area.
Lovely garden with garden furniture, stunning view at the sunset over the sea, fridge, coffee machine and tea kettle in the room along with the basics for the breakfast needs. Very close to Livorno. There is no privacy. Curtains barely cover this mostly glassy structure the owners built as b&b. Very worn down inside. We could not get tv to work ( tiny computer screen facing the entrance, not the room :))

Description: Welcome to Hotel GennarinoHotel Gennarino is a delightful castle in liberty style and it is located in Viale Italia no 301 on the seafront in front of the Naval Academy. In this beautiful area you can admire all the villas in liberty style that dates from the beginning of the 20th centuryTurning right from the hotel walking down towards San Jacopo in Acquaviva you will see a church that has been built on a 7th century hermitage
Nice old hotel, staff very nice and helpful. We stayed here for 2 days before taking the ferry and used the hotel as a starting point for trips into toscana. Rooms are good. AC is working, road is slightly loud but manageable with windows closed. Bus stop nearby is very convenient to get to city center. We would stay here again for nights before ferry and similar. Btw there was only a reduced breakfast due to Covid - but we did not try it.

I read "unassuming" in a recent review: that triggered my curiosity. And it paid off, this hotel is a little gem ! Literally 2 min walk from central station. You could not ask for a friendlier, more helpful staff. Rooms are spotless clean. And breakfast is top-quality. You will find the whole spectrum, from cereals, to traditional Italian, to more northern European style, all kinds of milk, endless varieties of tea and more. If I should ever come back to Livorno, I won't even bother looking at other places!
