The staff was wonderful from check-in, parking, and luggage to advice about the area, the magnificient seasonal bonsai arrangements, and the kamisan's (hotel mistress) care that everything be done perfectly. The meals were kaiseki, delicious and in beautiful dishes. The Onsen was an indoor bath with an outdoor rotenburo looking at the hillside (lovely with snow, I think) with tsutsuji and, lucky timing: rare Katakuri blooming. The Natural waters felt like healing qualities, smooth skin. I hesitated to reserve this hotel because I didn't like the Bed-making in the picture. I felt if it was a little "hands-off". Would the cleaning, etc. also be "hands off?" But there were no problems there, clean, and modern, non-smoking room, even the windows were clean. But I took one star off the rating because the bed was rock-hard. Futon on tatami might be softer...

We stayed two nights. Doors are rather meant as a visual protection. Whatever sound is on the corridor, it’s clearly audible in the room. The doors close with a bang. It’s difficult to hang clothes, no closet, only three hangers at a kind of mirror behind the door. Other than this the hotel has been renovated not too long ago, it is clean, Onsen good, and it is conveniently located with a bus stop directly in front of the hotel. The buffet style food was excellent and staff extraordinarly friendly, helpful and attentive, they deserve 6 stars instead of five. So, if you sleep like a log wherever you lay your head, the Hotel is certainly a good choice.

Stayed over for a night as it was one of the hotels nearest to the shuttle bus terminals to get to Komagane. Location wise, very convenient, only about 10 minutes drive to the bus terminal/ bus stops. There is also a COCO curry restaurant just beside or if you can take the car out, it will be just a few minutes drive to many sauce-katsu don places - this is famous in the area. It was a little pricey considering the current situation but at least everything was clean. Size of the rooms were standard Japanese size. Free parking too. There is a manmade onsen on the ground floor. Seems just like a big bathing spa though since the onsen isnt natural. Went at a good time and the onsen was empty. That was good. Covid-19 prevention was good, plastic disposable hand gloves were provided for the breakfast buffet in the morning. Overall, just another normal Japanese chain hotel but the location made up for it, if you are heading to Komagane.

The hotel located at an amazing beautiful mountain area. Easy to access by rope way. We stayed here for one night and went on climbing first on the day we arrive. There is public bath at the hotel and it is great to have a warm nice bath after cold climbing for the day. The dinner and breakfast were great as well!

I stayed the night before at the Komagane Onsen Hotel , but Hotel Yamabu is a class above that and only 100 meters from each other . This hotel had porters to carry my luggage in ., greeting with a smile and such a gorgeous entrance , especially with fresh snow fall and red Maple leaves on the top ( unusual) The Room was excellent , the food for breakfast was supurb and stylish in a Japanese Edo style wooden room with a shoji screen ... I was expecting Ega Ninjas to jump down on me .. On leaving the Hotel ,I noticed my name was written on their welcome board in the foyer..Its a beautiful hotel and I would recomend it wholeheartedly ..The o furo and Rotemburo are excellent !

So I don’t like to give bad reviews for hotels and stuff but. I have been in this hotel for 3 weeks (training at my company). And let’s say all the beautiful pictures they show you are fake. I arrived in a room 1515 fifth floor, the bed is old, we feel the springs inside almost going out it’s terrible. When the staff doesn’t even speak English, when I speak Japanese they looked me with big eyes almost making me feel that what I say was lies. I had to change because the room isn’t comfortable, there’s dirt on the wall, the window has also mold on its corner. Like nothing is good. And that’s for all the rooms. I didn’t know Japan was that bad for having proper spaces... anyway. The bathroom is okay, but they don’t give you hand soap, q tips, or even when I asked for new toilet paper they argued for 3 minutes on whether I’m lying or not. What? The morning’s menu is a self service with a lot of different things, but all of it is cold, I don’t get it. For us westerns, we have some bread and jam, so I could eat but apart from this it’s mostly Japanese and. I repeat, cold. The coin laundry / dryer are maybe for saving us time but it stinks, the “Senzai” aka detergent has no smell, it’s expensive also. You’d rather go to the outside coin laundry but just for the sake of it I tried. I’m 100% honest in what I say. This hotel shouldn’t be even around 3 stars for such service. Some of the personnel are really a bunch of liars / they look down at you. I’ve been to many hotels in Japan and by far, the worst service in such a beautiful place for tourists. Sad.
