A great place to stay for the ski festival

Reviewed By jimhK3111SY

We stayed in Trysil hotel and drove the 5 minutes up to the ski slopes for the last week of the ski season including the festival on the slopes and in town. This was agreat way to see some culture of Norway that staying in a ski apartment wouldn’t. We were a group of 5 fifty something British men. Trysil hotel is excellent for a group like this with the the bakery, craft beers and easy automated check in. It is cool without trying to be too flash/posh, it is simple and provides the basics in the room well, the staff are friendly and helped us make the most of our stay in the town. We ate in the hotel one evening and the food was excellent and everyone enjoyed the breakfasts each day.

Booked an apartment with Skistar

Reviewed By KV1234

The Radisson Blu Resort offers both hotel rooms and apartments with a kitchen. The apartments can be booked through Skistar who also provide booking facilities for Ski passes and Snowboard / Ski rental. We took the skibus from the airport and it drops you directly at the front door of the hotel in Trysil. The hotel is modern and has a good feel to it. The staff are welcoming and we felt relaxed when we arrived as they handed out cookies and coffee. Even though we booked an apartment with Skistar the Radisson reception perform the check-in. Our apartment was spacious and bright with a kitchenette. We had pre-booked their main restaurant 2 weeks before we arrived and that proved to be a good plan as the restaurants were booked up with functions. We were able to dine at the Pizza restaurant one night without a booking but had to wait over an hour for a table. Most nights we ate in our own room as we didn't want to wait an hour or walk up to the restaurant area of the resort but we can recommend "Taste Mat & Vinhus" which is nice for a fine dining experience. The owner replies to emails for bookings. The ski-lockers in the lowest floor of the hotel are well setup and the skiing is generally good without being great. A slight wind can really freeze your face on the chairlifts (we went for the week starting 5 March) as they don't have any covers on the chairlifts and their is no Gondola so be prepared. We enjoyed our time skiing in Trysil and the apartment was a very good choice as it allowed us to eat in or out as we pleased. The hotel could do with another restaurant and a larger bar.

4-star rooms but 1-star check-in

Reviewed By Tannpirker

I stayed one night in room 519. Nice room with 4-star standard, overlooking the town's east square. The hotel is quite delicate. I didn't have anything to eat there, just sleep. Unfortunately, it took me 25 minutes (!) to check in as they were understaffed. Only one clerk behind the desk. Except from this, everything was very good. Nice location in the middle of town centre, close to everything.

Excellent town hotel

High standard town hotel, in walking distance to Hamar center. Our double room provided everything a guest can dream of. Good quality of bed, well thought-of bathroom with lots of shelves to put items on. Large & excellent breakfast buffet, incl. professional coffee machine with lots of choices. The only downside: reception area a bit cold and oversized. No atmosphere at bar.

Great experience

Reviewed By Inchman4u

My wife and I were both going to undertake a minor operation at Tynset Hospital on the 24th September and decided to travel to Tynset the day before and as we couldn’t travel on the same day as the operation it meant spending two nights here. What a pleasure it turned out to be. The room was spacious although the bathroom practical it was verk minimal. However, we decided to eat in the hotel’s restaurant which was definitely a good choice. We had the salmon the for starter the reindeer the main course, finished off with the brûlée. The choice of wine was not extensive, but nonetheless very good. The house wine is also good. We didn’t feel particularly well after our operation, but the venison choice on the menu made up for that. The breakfast buffet was also excellent and the fact that you could help yourself to coffee at anytime during your stay, free of charge, was also a very good service. All members of the staff that we came into contact with were very helpful too. Highly recommended Ian

Nice hotel, but varm as hell in the room we staid in on the 7th floor.

Reviewed By AnnaPancake

What a hot place! And that’s not a complement! Probably not an issue in winter, but was now. We’ve been on a road trip, and visited many hotels, this was by far the worst hotel. Great beds, nice bathroom, but over 30 degrees in the room ( brought thermonentor with us, the actual degree was 33) and no climate control. We had payed extra to get a better room, but that was money down the drain. We asked the lady in the reception if we could get a fan (we had stayed at Thorn Panorama in Oslo and they handed out fans). The lady in the reception told us , no fans but, night cooling would start at 23.00 in their ventilation system , did not happen. I ended up taking an ice cold shower at 2.00 in the morning, my husband went for a two hour walk between 1.00-3.00. Just to stay cold. The overall reaction at the reception when I talked about our extreme heat problem was unfotunately ignorant, to say the least. We have spent 9 days, in various Norwegian cities and hotels, same outside temperature, this was our only bad experience.
