The George Hotel is something of a local treasure, situated in the pretty market town of Penrith, perfectly located to explore the Eden valley with Ullswater and the Lake District just a few miles away. The lounge is popular with locals for morning coffee and cake, lunches and afternoon teas.
Stayed for one night in a large upgraded room. Very clean with a large bathroom. Bed and bowl put out for our dog who was fussed over. We were welcome in all the bars there and had a lovely table with space for the dog for our evening meal. Staff couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely visit again

With the Lake District National Park a mere six miles away who wouldn't want to stay at Premier Inn Penrith? Our new- generation bedrooms each featuring an impressive 40" flat screen TV, bright, modern bathroom with a large showerhead and slumber inducing Hypnos bed are the ultimate place to unwind after a hard day's hiking. Not forgetting a well deserved dinner at our on-site Kitchen restaurant. Penrith itself has plenty to offer. Brougham Castle and Penrith Castle will please history enthusiasts. Or take a walk up to Penrith Beacon to take in the spectacular views. If you've left the car at home, you'll be pleased to know that Penrith North Lakes train station is a short walk from our Penrith hotel too.
We have stayed at many Premier Inn's, this one by far is our favourite! All staff, from William on reception to Mel, Erica, Ian (and another lady beginning with M?) In restaurant went above and beyond (extra treats, extra ice, detailed maps of where to go. Service was fab. We had breakfast, hot & plentiful, we decided to eat out for dinner, as there were many different restaurants around. Our room was spacious and very clean. The only thing I would say is, it would be nice if rooms could be cleaned whilst we were there. However, anything we needed, ie towels, tea/coffee were available when requested. All in all it was a lovely location for what our family of 4 needed to explore the Lakes. Thanku x

The traditional hunting lodge style of the North Lakes Hotel & Spa, Penrith reflects the rugged beauty of the Lake District. Local stone, natural wood and open log fires create a genuine 'away from it all' environment in this exclusive 4-star resort hotel. FYR Grill is a unique experience as the chefs grill the finest steaks and fish on an open fire in the AA rosette restaurant. The fabulous spa has a 12m pool, with spa treatments, gym, hot tub, sauna and steam rooms. Outside the team tend to bug hotels and bee hives in the herb garden, and there’s even a dedicated pooch area for your four-legged friends. Part of The House of Daniel Thwaites collection.
We are currently staying at The North Lakes hotel in one of their dog friendly rooms. Dylan (my dog, not my hubby!) has his own bed, bowl, treats, poo bags...he also has a special door to be let out if where he can chase rabbits in a field (it's ok, he won't ever catch one!) On the way to this door, he passes a bench with lots of balls, toys, treats on! Wherever we go, Dylan comes too. I can see he will definitely want to come back here! Oh, our room is amazing too: red Smeg fridge, Nespresso machine, 2 cans of g&t in the fridge, fluffy robes and slippers for the swimming pool and spa! We booked an afternoon tea which, though pricey, was worth it. Totally outdone by the cakes, the waiter kindly brought us a lovely box so we could take them away with us Every single member of staff has been both friendly and helpful: more than that, they have all made the biggest fuss of Dylan!

Second visit and just as stunning as before. Just love this place beautifully remote. We stayed in lakeside. Stunning views from the window. Park your car and leave it for a day or two a real escape from civilisation but with great food and wine In stunning surroundings. Lovely team of staff who were attentive but not annoying. We will be back.

On the edges of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks beside the fishing River Eden, and surrounded by the dramatic and beautiful Northern Pennines, we would love to welcome you to our late 16th century Royal Oak Inn, in the heritage medieval town of Appleby. The town has the reputedly best example of an 11th century main street dominated by the preserved Norman Castle and surrounded by 13th century churches. The Royal Oak is the best location for exploring surrounding areas, as a one-night stop while completing one of the many well-known walks, or as a break on your journey from South to Scotland or vice versa.
Stopped at the Royal Oak on our Pennine Way charity walk. Everything was first class. From the moment we arrived to when we left, everything was great. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Good food, great service and exceptional hospitality.

A Lake District B&B, originally built in the 17th century, The House combines old world history with modern day luxury and tech. Sensitively restored, the individually styled bedrooms and elegant reception rooms create a cosy and tranquil welcome. Set in a walled garden in the Eden Valley village of Temple Sowerby, The House offers an opportunity to relax and indulge. The village of Temple Sowerby is situated between the market towns of Penrith and Appleby in Westmorland with the mighty Cross Fell Mountain as a spectacular backdrop. . Please note: As of November 2020 we have closed our evening restaurant however there are local restaurants and places to eat nearby.
A fabulous find. A warm welcome. Lovely room (room 2). Fabulous breakfast room with really lovely staff. The best homemade granola Ive ever had. Fabulous garden for the dog and he was offered a sausage for breakfast Lovely little place to stay. Nice to be able to join in with the jubilee celebrations and lighting of a beacon.

Delicious homecooked, mostly organic food, distinctive furniture and beautiful decoration, organic and local toiletries, stylish en-suite bathrooms, use of gardens, Nothing too much trouble. Perfect! Beautiful, quiet, more than comfortable, immaculately clean, amazing breakfasts and delicious sandwich or salad lunches available (also perfect for supper if you fancy a quiet night in). Perfect location for walkers. No need for car just get up and go! Jim and Tina were so lovely right from the start - patiently and graciously responding to email enquiries even before had confirmed my booking. I really can't wait to return!

As frequent visitors to the lakes, and Pooley Bridge, we decided to stay somewhere we'd never stayed before, and chose The Queens Head Inn. We are so glad we did! We all had a great stay! The building is huge inside, and pub is old fashioned with low ceilings and dark roof beams everywhere, and in total contrast, the ensuite rooms are really modern, and have been decorated superbly! We also had 2 dogs, and someone with a rollator to accommodate, and this was no issue at all. Food was delicious and the staff were amazing! Special thanks to the tall blonde lady who really looked after us! This trip was a sentimental trip, and The Queens Hetad will never fully appreciate the huge part they've played in it. Thank you all so much! We definitely recommend this place and will definitely be back!
