The staff at this hotel are without exception first class. Nothing was too much trouble, friendly and helpful from arrival right through our stay. Room was good size, bright and very comfortable overlooking lovely gardens. Although the road is close it was not noisy. Breakfast were 'Norfolk' sized ie. Big! Fresh produce and relaxed in a light, bright dining room. We ate dinner on one night and the chef excelled himself with the taster menu. I've eaten in Michelin restaurants and wasn't as impressed, but again huge portions. Car parking was ample but need some blue badge spaces. There are some imperfections in the building but nothing to spoil the stay. Ignore the negative reviews it's a friendly, efficient hotel in the centre of a market town.

I think the first thing to mention and without doubt the best thing about my stay was the staff, who were all friendly, helpful and professional. I stayed there in July, and while the room was warm, I slept on top of the duvet, and had a very comfortable nights sleep. The room was comfortable, newly decorated and the power shower was excellent. Oh and the towels were so soft, thick and comfortable! For my evening meal I had Haddock and Chips which was recommended by the very pleasant waitress. Not only was the recommendation correct, but it was possibly one of the nicest fish and chips I ever had. The fish was crispy, and the tartare sauce was excellent. For breakfast I had Eggs Benedict which was superb. In summery, the room was good, the food excellent, but it was really nice to see such young staff, being so professional, pleasant and friendly.

Diss By Verve is a recently refurbished 17th Century coaching inn, which has retained many of its original features including the hand carved staircase and the original hand painted sundial. The bar boasts two magnificent fireplaces which are reputedly the largest in East Anglia. The Inn has two function rooms for conferences, celebrations and weddings. Dine in our 5 Star Restaurant with extensive menu choices using only the best of local fresh produce cooked to order. Alternatively our lounge and Public Bar offer a menu with a more informal surrounding, with beautiful real log fires.
My partner and I recently returned from a 3 night stay at the Diss by Verve. On arrival all seemed well. We were fully aware that this is a historic building, therefore completely expected the building to possess plenty of structural character. Walking into the reception area, we found a young guy behind the desk who greeted us politely. He ran through the usual Hotel arrival information. As our room also came with Breakfast, he informed us that breakfast was served between 7.30am-9.30am. We were also asked to book our table before 5.30pm, if we wished to dine in the Restaurant in the evenings. After this we were handed the biggest key I have ever seen, and directed to our room, EMMAS ROOM, on the first floor. The stairs are clearly one of the many features of the building that date back some time, if not right back to 1655 when it was built. Although they are beautiful, they are also somewhat of a challenge. The majority of the treads are half the height of modern stair treads, and each one slopes and twists in its own direction. This was then accompanied by the equally uneven floor of the entire first floor hallway. Although we giggled all the way to our room, we respected the age and Historic qualities of the building, it did fill more like a fairground crooked house than a hotel. Once we finally got into our room - Superior Double Room - we soon realised that the stairs and the hallway floors were relatively flat in comparison. The floor was so sloped in places that not one piece of furniture sat level. It turned out that I couldn’t even put a drink down on any of the surfaces without propping something against it to stop it sliding off. This isn’t even an exaggeration. We were a little disappointed that the room we were staying in didn’t have a fridge but that’s one of those things. I must say though, the bed was actually very comfortable. The en-suite was pretty standard but unfortunately the shower water pressure was horrendous! At 6ft tall, I struggled to get the shower head high enough to get under it. This wouldn’t have been too much of an issue if the water came out with a little more pressure. My partner found that this wasn’t even suffice to wash the shampoo out of her hair properly, instead having to use a cup filled from the tap. The TV was quite something. I totally appreciate that space is limited, neither were we planning on watching much TV during our stay, but it was so small that we could barely see it from the bed. The TV remote was actually out of range when sitting on the bed. The food was pretty mediocre. Understandably, I appreciate for a hotel in such a location, with little custom other than that of it’s guests, the choices would be limited. We were a little disappointed, when we went down for breakfast at 9am on our first morning, to find out that breakfast actually ends at 9am and not at 9.30am like we weee told on arrival. This meant we had to go out and find somewhere else to have breakfast instead. The staff on the other hand were all very friendly and often asked us if we needed anything. It turned out that our room only had one key therefore our room couldn’t be cleaned or replenished without us asking them to do so.

We stayed here for 2 nights in the Joe Kennedy room which had a four poster bed and beautiful period furniture, in keeping with the building. Our room was spotlessly clean and very quiet. The area was peaceful and tranquil, yet within easy driving distance of amenities, including pubs etc. Our host, Paul, was marvellous; nothing was too much trouble and he really went above and beyond. It felt more like staying with an old trusted friend or family member. Breakfast was a leisurely affair and absolutely delicious, especially the mushrooms! Breakfast was

Just returned from a long weekend staying in Otter Lodge. We had visited previously in July last year and it was as good as we remembered. Amy the owner is such a friendly, welcoming lady who is so helpful. We travelled with our son who is disabled and Otter Lodge is the perfect place to bring him on holiday. The lodge has a large wet room (the best we have had on any holiday) and is fully accessible. The small town of Diss is nearby and has lots of places to eat at. There are also 3 supermarkets. We visited Bury St Edmunds which is a lovely historical town with lots of good shops and places to eat. Otter lodge is set in a large field with 2 other lodges, all 3 have a hot tub. This was a a bonus for us as we have found it difficult to find accessible accommodation with a hot tub. We had a fantastic break and can't wait to go back next year. Would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling with a disabled person. Thank you again to Amy for making our stay so good.

Step back to an age of glamour, sophistication and luxury! Located on the border of Suffolk and Norfolk and an easy journey from London, Bressingham Hall is a lovely Grade II listed mansion house, set amongst the 17 acres of gardens. Recently renovated, the house retains its period features whilst also creating a warm and welcoming environment for house guests. A large reception hall leads to an elegantly decorated drawing room and dining room, and the grand staircase takes you to the seven spacious and beautifully furnished bedrooms (of which 5 are ensuite) for up to 18 guests. If you are celebrating something special, we can recommend caterers to help you really relax during your stay. As an added feature, guests have their very own private garden with conservatory and terrace, to enjoy the view all year round. And with prior arrangement you can place an order with the nursery, collect before you leave and take away a little bit of Bressingham to plant in your own garden.
Decided to go to Bressingham steam gardens so we read on Internet but nowhere did it speak of cafe or restauran . so we packed a picnic. Got to tbetford only to fnd it was nearer to Diss. Went sailing past as didnt realise whyvale garden centre is the entrance.ended up parking in garden centre as it said only disabled to park there. However. Gardens were fabulous. Cafe looked lovely and trains were brilliant to ride on. Great loco sheds too. Good day out.

We loved Wingfield so much that this year we told all our friends about it and took over the whole sight. I'm not a camper in the true sense of the worse so absolutely loved the luxury of Wingfield. The dreamy beds, the hot shower, the fluffy towels! We have already booked it again for next year so that is testament to how much we enjoyed ourselves.
