Another nice visit to the property. The lounge begin open again makes a huge difference. Pool is still good, but some lessons were going on while we were in there, despite the signage stating this was not allowed. Service was better than our last visit with Jones being very helpful throughout. Brewery down the street is still ace. Dali Hilton is still a winner.

Dali Old Courtyard Boutique Inn located in the ancient town of Dali , 20 meters from The Catholic Church ,3 minutes walk to Renming Road . 50 minutes driving to airport ,30 minutes to railway station. Distance to erhai lake only 3km, to cangshan Mountain only 5km . Hotel already has more than 185 years old of Bai people's traditional house .
This is a nice place to stay if you want to be near the touristy walking streets but away from the noise. It’s near the end of a dead-end alley that also has the Catholic Church on it. It felt a bit abandoned when we were there because of the tourist slowdown during the pandemic. The restaurant was closed so no breakfast, and the staff weren’t always there. They were very nice and I think will do a proper Chinese tea service if you ask. The setting is very nice - two stories traditional old structure around a courtyard. The rooms are a bit odd though - the lighting and bathroom. The reception/lobby had a nice sitting area. You do have to walk in a bit since it’s off a walking street so no cars are allowed. A staff member drove us out on a small motorized buggy.

This hotel can be a little hard to find, down a back alley just outside the Erhai Gate of Dali Old town. Overall, though, this was a fantastic experience. Well located, right near old town, but also near the Erhai Gate where you can pick up taxis and other services. Friendly, helpful guests and clean, if simple, rooms. It can be a little loud at times, so be aware of that.

This is a great hostel to stay in. I stayed in a lovely private room with an en-suite bathroom. The bed was so comfy. Great shower. It cost about 11 euro a night (I always think in Euro) which is absolutely amazing value. I researched accommodation in Dali Old Town very thoroughly before I booked this hostel and it was one of the best and cheapest places to stay. The whole hostel is really tastefully decorated. Nice, airy common area to eat or chill in and a bottle of Dali beet is cheap there. It's located across the main road, just a short walk from the old town. My flight home got cancelled the day before so I had to stay another night but it was no hassle to book an extra night there. The hostel also organised a taxi to Dali airport for me. I would definitely recommend staying here. Also, 88 Bakery nearby is a really good place to eat.

The Linden Centre is an award-winning boutique hotel offering the intrepid traveller an inspiring exploration into Southwest China. With the Himalayan foothills providing a stunning backdrop, guests can reside in a beautifully restored national relic (one of the only national heritage sites open to overnight stays in China) within a thriving village, all while being serviced by a passionate and bilingual staff. Over 40% of the mansion is dedicated to common space, including a well-stocked cafe, dining room, fitness center, game room, extensive library, and conference facilities. Our second story terrace, floating above the fertile fields, is one of the iconic images of the region. Touch the ‘old’ China that is elusive to most visitors in one of the world’s oldest and most storied cultures.
The Linden Centre Xizhou is a one-of-a-kind proposition in that you are staying in a lovingly restored traditional property in an ancient village nestled between a mountain range and a lake. Brian and his team were great hosts and the patio at the back of the Centre is a special place to enjoy a drink. Breakfast was basic, but fine and the cafe's Flying Tiger-focused decor was a hit with our son. Mason's morning market tour was nice, even though we'd been to Xizhou before and gave us a look at the Linden Commons, which rivals the Linden Centre in terms of charm. If you are staying in Xizhou then one of these spots is a must-book. The only demerit were the very uncomfortable beds. Hard beds are a common feature of hotels in China, but the queen bed in the family suite was unexpectedly so at the LC price point. This is a small negative in an otherwise positive experience. Recommend.

We travelled as family with a toddler and stayed for 3 nights. Room: With an oriental touch, we enjoyed our room which had a lovely view of the Cangshan. Waking up to the sunshine falling on the mountains was a real delight (King Room with Mountain View) Service: The staff was polite and answered to all our questions. While the staff at the reception kept changing, the lady manager was very helpful in giving travel tips to us around sightseeing. Housekeeping was done daily. Breakfast: Being a hostel/Inn we went ahead and booked breakfast for throughout our stay. Must say we weren't satisfied with what we were served as we had no option and had to eat congee and buns. one meal is ok but not all. On our day of check-out we were declined breakfast as the cook wasn't available which really put us off as we had hurried to be on time with a toddler and no food to eat. our only complaint was let us know a night before so we are better prepared. We expressed our grievance to the lady manager who did her best to undo the mistake with multiple tries and finally compensated us by arranging a Lunch with other residents and staff. That felt like a warm meal with the locals. we really enjoyed and appreciate the length to which the manager went to make up for the mistake. Location: Very convenient, located almost across the main road of the west gate of Dali Ancient Town. Plenty of restaurant and shopping options around. LilyPad is a quiet, peaceful inn, suitable for families travelling on a budget.
