We were at this resort for 5 days and 4 nights in May 2014. The hotel was located in quite a remote region of S.Korea. Getting to this place was not easy. We had rented a car from Avis and an English GPS to get here. It is important to note that you should be careful with the English GPS rental in Korea, the GPS we rented was prone hanging which caused us to miss a few crucial turns along the highway, my suggestion is to constantly monitor the GPS and restart it everytime it starts to hang. The drive from Incheon International Airport to the hotel took about 2 hrs plus. The resort is situated at the top of a hill with a large winding road leading up to it. There was a kitchen, a bedroom, a living room and a dining area in the resort room. We had 4 adults living in there and I felt that there were ample space. However, there is only 1 queen size bed for 2 adults and the other two had to sleep on the floor on korean bedding mattresses (kindly note). We didnt eat in the restaurant at the hotel but we saw a signage showing that they had one. There was a convenience store (C&U) for any last minute purchases that you might require. We used the resort as a base and drove around to other places of attraction in Korea (i.e. Danyang- Gosu Caves, Jeonju- Roman Catholic Cathedral; Hanok Village, Chuncheon - Namiseon Island, Chungju - Mount Songnisan) Due to its remoteness, you need to spend some time on the road to get to this places. The longest being about 3.5 hrs to Jeonju. Being from a small city state, this took some getting use to ;) Staff at this hotel was generally helpful with limited abilities in English, be prepared with some basic translations or Korean words of the places you want to go should you have any questions. bests

Suanbo Saipan Hot Spring Hotel is located in Suanbo Tourism Complex famous for excellent healing waters of the springs. Suanbo Hot Spring is the Korea's first natural hot spring that Korean kings once enjoyed. There are seminar rooms on the basement of the hotel, and guests can enjoy barbeque party at the outdoor kitchenettes.
Stopped here for the night when doing the Seoul-Busan cycling journey. They have everything you need as a touring cyclist. A tool shed, comfortable rooms and even a cute cat! Breakfast is included and the staff can speak english.

CC + G ( 2015.03.01 ) This resort was famous for good hot springs, so we visited for accomodation with bath. This resort was located on small hill, and not big size. The room was not bad, not good. And there had a little subsidiary. This resort was good for bath with hot springs a day, I think. The hot springs in resort was not big, but good with open-air bath.

Totally not what I expected or wanted. I was cycling along the Four Rivers Bike Path and booked the hotel through Trip Adviser late on the evening of arrival. Trip Advisor linked me to Agoda, which is where I made the reservation. Was in a hurry and didn't have time to do research. I saw Suanbo Saipan Hot Spring Resort come up as #1 for around 50 AUD. I also saw Suanbo Park Hotel for 156 AUD on special. The website was saying it was 4-stars. So given the late evening arrival, and me being tired from riding all day, I decided to opt for the extra money and the 4-star treatment. Totally not worth it. Based on my room, this hotel is more like 2.5-star, and a total rip off at 156 AUD. All I needed was a clean and comfortable bed. What I got was a traditional Korean room with no bed, but 'mattresses' on the floor, and no bed linen. So I used one of the mattresses (more of a futon) as a cover, like a duvet. The room was very tired, with cracked tiles in the bathroom. At least the liner covering the mattress was clean. I also got weird emails from the hotel (after my reservation was confirmed with Agoda) saying that my reservation could not be completed, but they would sort something out when I arrived. This was concerning, as the English in the email was poor and it was unclear if I would have a room when I arrived. Oh, and if you are riding a bike, the last 300m up the drive is a killer climb if you have been riding all day :/ I would not stay again. Should have just gone to the Suanbo Saipan Hot Spring Resort which was listed as #1 and a third of the price.

Traveling in late summer on the 4 rivers trail, we planned a stop in Suanbo. The lure of a resort town and sauna seemed good after a few days cycling up river. We found that walk up rates were 10 to 20$ less than internet rates, plus you get to see the hotel or motel. Have maps and a little Korean language is helpful in this endeavor, Google translate works too. The hotel that the internet led us to was being renovated, so we just asked 3 different people "I am looking for a good Hotel " " cho an hotel chako ee nun de oh" Our inquiries led us here. I really like it. It cost 60 ish dollars in September with a good conversion rate (this is a ski town winter would be more). The bed was a bit firm for my taste, but that seems to be how Koreans like it. The charm and hospitality were uplifting. This is a lovely little resort town, and this hotel has an ironic alpine German flare with a sort of lost in translation aura : ). Awesome sauna 1 block away....long name starts with an n....yummy chicken tchib 3 blocks straight down the road across from the Seven 11. DO visit Coffee M, charming, delicious, comfortable, wifi, and they let us use their high quality bike pump....a relief from a small travel pump : )

In addition, while staying at Apple Motel guests have access to a 24 hour front desk, and you can stay connected with free wifi. Need a place to park? Free parking is available at Apple Motel. Chungju is also home to Chungju World Martial Arts Park, a popular park that is not too far from Apple Motel. Apple Motel is sure to make your visit to Chungju one worth remembering.
After seeing the reviews and hunting down this lodging, I expected better. The front desk said there weren't standard rooms available but they could give a special room...for an up charge. Parking lot was nearly empty. The room is nice enough, but the queen sized bed is ultra firm, much like a floor mat.

I stayed here with a large group of about 175 people in late December, 2015. It is customary even in the US to make reservations, especially when traveling in groups, during the high season, holidays, and weekends. You can expect to pay higher prices for hotel rooms during the high season, holidays, and weekends in many countries. Our trip was planned in advance. We came by bus from Daegu. Once you arrive at Chungju Station or Bus Terminal, take bus 240, 242, or 246 to get here, about 1 hour. The area is known for its hot springs, pheasant, and omija. It is not far from Woraksan National Park or Mungyeong Saejae Provincial Park. The hotel has Korean and Western style guest rooms. I visited the caffe bene on the first floor twice during our stay. Also on the first floor, there are 4 computers with internet and a printer, some art on display, the front desk, banquet hall, Korean restaurant/Western grill, and an SS Mart. On the lower level there were 2 spas, Grand Hall with 4 computers, and a Karaoke Nightclub. If you are a foreigner traveling in Korea, you cannot expect Korean hotel restaurants to have the same offerings as hotel restaurants back home. They generally have few Western items, if any, on their breakfast menu, more for lunch/dinner. Some have a breakfast buffet on the weekends, as this one does. Also, if you have children who like to eat bread, cereal, etc., I suggest you bring some with you. My room had a mini-fridge, huge flat screen TV, hairdryer, long wooden shoe horn, 1-pair of slippers, 3-towels, small round table, 2 chairs, 4 trouser and 6 other hangers in the closet, 1-twin and 1-queen size bed, brush, 2-extra pillows and blankets in teh closet. The bathroom was equipped with a modern, heated toilet seat, 2 hotel soaps, small shampoo and rinse. The room was very clean and the hotel was well-maintained. My bed was comfortable and had bedding in excellent condition. Although the room had no hot water pot or cups, there were a few glasses and I found water machines on most floors. I always carry my own coffee mix when traveling. You might want to bring some coffee mix or tea bags with you. If you shave, you should bring your own razor and converter when traveling. Most hotels, even back home, do not provide free razors, toothpaste, or tooth brushes. On the evening of our arrival, we had a pre-arranged dinner buffet in the Grand Hall. The food was excellent! The next morning, we had soup in the hotel restaurant, which was also delicious! I found the Mr. Woohyung Kim was on duty that morning. We had a very nice conversation in English. I found the hotel staff very courteous and efficient. If you are a person with deep pockets who enjoys wasting money on very expensive hotels in cosmopolitan areas, you need to stay in Seoul. You can find real pictures of the hotel on the internet. The one shown here is merely an artist rendering of a resort in another country.

The hotel changed its name to The Base. The room was comfortable, also the bed and pillow. The room has a separate living room with a couch and a small sofa. There are two air conditioning machines which are absolutely necessary if go there in summer time. The bathroom was OK. The only point was that during my shower, the water flow became cut for a while and then it resumed very hot. I guess this happened when other guests were using also the shower in their rooms...The breakfast was nice: variety of food. The price was a little bit expensive.

Greeting! We consider comfort and cleanliness as our priorities with a reasonable price. Welcome to comfort and cozy Raemian.
The owner was very friendly and nice enough to give me a ride to light festival that was held in the city. He is also bilingual so easy to communicate with. I only paid only about 30 bucks per night, but the serive that I received was NEVER cheap!! He gave us 10 extra bottles of water for our kids which were more than enough. I loved the area, quite and nice. Love to visit again:)
