A quite deceiving stay
Reviewed By zozopyI was here with my family during a round trip through Portugal. The room hasn't been very comfortable: the sink didn't work and the room itself hadn't been cleaned properly. Moreover there weren't blankets in the beds but the staff has been efficient in finding them out.

Wonderful Quinta for relaxing break
Reviewed By Lynda CWe stayed in a 5 star hotel in Porto followed by this Quinta which is 3 start B&B but we preferred this place. It is in the most beautiful location. Sitting on the terrace when we arrived tasting the wine with a wonderful cheese and ham platter, all we could hear were the birds, waterfall nearby and the occasional cockerel while looking across the valley at vineyards and trees. Rooms are rural, full of old wooden furniture with beautiful bedding. Bring your own toiletries - some provided but no shampoo or conditioner. No air conditioning but just keep windows and shitters closed in day time and the room stays cool. Lovely terrace, guest lounge with TV/small shop of produce and guide books and leaflets, indoor tables if it rains. Lovely outdoor pool and you can sit under the orange tree for shade. Outside there is also changing rooms and toilets. Pool towels provided. Extensive walks around the estate to see the vines, donkey, horse, chickens, kitchen garden. You can also go down to the river and see the waterfall. There is a very small beach area shaded by trees but the water was too low to go in to the river from the beach (4 foot drop) and a family of ducks was protesting loudly at us being there! Fernando and all staff are so friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good - fruit, fresh orange juice, cheese, ham, bread, croissants, sometimes scrambled eggs. coffee, tea. There is no restaurant but there is a snack menu which requires at least 12 and preferably 24 hour notice. We had this once - cheese and ham plate, bread, salad and cake. All was excellent with home made orange cake which was delicious. All with a jar of the home made jam and bottle of organic wine - rose was our favourite. Beware of driving car right up to house - not possible to turn round so have to reverse out. We left ours at the old house after the gates. Google Maps took us on a cycle track on the old train line - if you get to a red rod with lines down middle - don't go on iy. We were advised to use Wize instead which we did for the rest of the holiday. The Quinta is out of the way and you will need a car but some lovely places nearby - Amarant and Castilo de Arnoia. Fernando will recommend restaurants and places to visit. Wonderful place for a few days.

Wonderful hotel, but eat out!

It was great to have all the independence of home comforts but also be able to enjoy this friendly hotel with its incredible spa/pool area. Sadly, the restaurant food is not nearly as good as when we stayed last year (chef must have left?), but that's OK as there are some good restaurants around this area.

Quinta do Farfalho is a cozy B&B located in Northern Portugal. Just an hour's drive from the beautiful city of Porto. The B&B has 4 cozy 2-person rooms with private bathroom (shower or bath), sink and toilet. All rooms have box spring beds, bed linen and towels. From the terrace you have a beautiful view of the property. We provide you with a luxurious breakfast, which can be served in the breakfast room or outside, and we take into account any dietary needs. Relax by the pool, terrace or garden. We have a pool house where you can use the shower and toilet. There is also an honesty bar so you can relax in the chaises longues with a drink. If you like more privacy, you may want to rent the private cottage. Upstairs, you will find a double bed, bathroom with shower, sink and cupboard. Downstairs a sofa bed (2 persons), kitchen with stove, dishwasher and refrigerator. In summer you can eat outside. Breakfast is not included in the price of the cottage, but is available upon request.
Dream Vacation in Paradise
Reviewed By 680rikgWe spend a week-long vacation at this beautiful B&B which is tucked away in the rolling hills near Celorico de Basto, 75 km east of Porto. The location is perfect - close to Porto, lots of local hiking trails and a short drive to Braga, Guimaraes, Amarante and, of course, port and wine tasting in the Douro valley. Heidi and Christophe are super hosts. They keep the place picture-perfect and clean. We enjoyed the privacy of the property, its idyllic location, the beautiful views from the main house and the pool as well as the tranquility of of the water lily pond with its soothing sounds of croaking frogs. We also had a few nights of fine dining at the B&B and enjoyed some amazing traditional dishes capturing Portugal flavors through the palate. It was a dream vacation in paradise!

One of the Best...
Reviewed By mumahenCasas do Eido is one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in. The hosts,Teresa and Maria João were unbelievably kind and generous. They couldn't do enough for us making us feel so very welcome. The bedroom was excellent very well appointed and such a comfortable bed. fresh fruit and bottles of water were provided on arrival and the fridge in our room was such a bonus. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit from their garden, delicious bread and some of the best coffee I have tasted..with hot milk all ready on a beautifully laid table. It is a very peaceful place surrounded by hilly countryside..lovely flowers grow around the property and it has some interesting history. I hope we will be able to visit this wonderful B&B again...

Reviewed By Guida SFeel the atmosphere of an ancient village born near a monastery in a nice modest hotel with all you need at a very low price.Private bathrooms. No breakfast but the town of Celorico is quite close. The staff is very kind and helpful.
