Reviewed By KerryS178Such a great value choice. We stayed in a premier line double room duplex with roof terrace and sea view. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the beach (road in between hotel and beach but doesn’t spoil things) and a large roof terrace with sun loungers and day bed. We chose to pay for the optional jacuzzi on the roof terrace which was heated to 38 degrees and so lovely to use in the evenings. The duplex large upper level has a big sofa where our teenager slept and he enjoyed his privacy and had his own tv (we paid a supplement per night as children over 4 years old are classed as an adult). There is a large sofa bed at the base of the main bed too. The room also has a proper fridge and kitchenette so we walked to the carrefour express attached to the petrol station (15 min walk) and made ourselves lunch one day to eat on the balcony. Housekeeping were really efficient and our room was quiet. We were really pleased with the modern room with large shower which was powerful and shower gel/shampoo provided. We booked with the hotel direct online. The outdoor pool was not heated so looked gorgeous in April but was very cold. There is a heated pool at the hotel in the block across the road so you can swim lengths and there is a pool temperature jacuzzi there too. This is a indoor pool. This alternative part of the hotel (I think they are apartments) seemed popular but we were glad we were positioned in the main part of the hotel with sea views as it seemed so much nicer. The staff in the hotel were friendly and looked after our cases on the last day so we could walk on the beach before our flight. We felt really safe at this hotel and in the area. The promenade runs right along the long beach with lovely bars/restaurants serving delicious food and the hotel is located in a peaceful and quiet area. We especially liked the pizzas in the restaurant on the road opposite. The bus to Barcelona centre costs 2.40Euros and goes from the road behind the hotel. They run until about 9pm and it takes 50 minutes to get into the city. A metered taxi from the centre home late at night costs about 40 Euros and takes 30 minutes. Barcelona was so busy over the Bank Holiday weekend that it was a pleasure to return back to Castelldefells after a day being in the city. We easily got a metered taxi outside the airport to get to the hotel for around 26Euros. The taxis also take credit cards. We were really pleased we chose this hotel and had a wonderful long weekend there. I am really looking forward to coming back as it is a very good value 4 star hotel offering a touch of luxury in a lovely location outside of Barcelona. Thank you for our stay!

Spacious, clean, nicely decorated room with good soundproofing and no unpleasant odors (this was an issue at some of the other hotels we stayed at during our trip). Convenient location close to shopping center and a short drive from the beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast.

Reviewed By 30250TravellerStayed here for a night before flying out of Barcelona. The room was clean and confortable, The staff spoke good English. Very good value for money. Lots of food possibilities in within walking distance. I had a view of the pool, which would have been great in the summer. The beach is 200 yards away.

Reviewed By aylesham54located few minutes from sandy beach restaurant s and bars. small personal imnaculate hotel and pool. food was very eratic from tasty to inedible and staff often nowhere to be found and poor room service and giving very ill informed advice that cost ne dearly in money, stress and huge disappointment. but loved the 2 canaries in the reception who always made me feel welcome.

Breakfast was just horrid and expensive, lunch was great although the qr code menu prices are different to the printed out menu sheets. Corridor on bedroom levels used (what I think they imagine are cool) dim blue lighting which was irritatingly dark. Bedroom view was fantastic. Bed was ok, pillows were stupidly high and duvet was stupidly thin. Daily cleaning of room was hit and miss, concierge was hopeless. Weirdly, we would return there even with all these issues....

The modern rooms in the Playafels have free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. All have large, marble bathrooms. The Playafels is surrounded by relaxing gardens with loungers, and has a terrace. The seaside restaurant offers an appealing buffet breakfast; and you can find bars, and shops in a 5 minutes' walk. The property offers easy access to Barcelona via the C-31 and C-32 main roads. Barcelona Airport is just 15 minutes’ drive away.
ALMOST a 4-star hotel
Reviewed By Nena VHotel Playafels has been a 'landmark' of Castelldefels for decades serving as a hall for weddings, NYE parties, etc. It has been recently renovated and it overlooks the beach. We were impressed to see the 4 star rating, but after staying there for ten days, we concluded it still has some work to do before it can be considered as such. Much like any other experience in life, much of the impression one has of institutions, restaurants, etc. is about the attitude of the staff who face the public. If the receptionist is accommodating, we'll walk away thinking 'hotel Playafels' is great, etc. We did not expect of a 4-star hotel to ask us to bring our bottle of wine down to the reception area to be opened when we asked for a corkscrew... Instead, we expected the hotel to offer / send us a 2 Euro corkscrew (in fact, why wasn't there one as part of the mini bar in the first place?). When you have rooms with big balconies overlooking the ocean, wouldn't it be predictable this would be a needed accessory? We ended up buying one from around the corner but the question remained: "would a 4-star hotel deny its guests a corkscrew?". We think not. Other items that made it fall short of its 4-star rating: holding back on providing coffee pods "for fear that people might steal them for their consumption at home" is what a maid shared. Wait, people would come here and pay the equivalent of $150 per night to take coffee pods home? Something does not add up there... A 4-star hotel does not make its guests ask at reception for coffee pods before making their way up to their rooms at night... And, lastly, masks were not enforced 100% of the time at reception area and the connecting restaurant. Many a times we witnessed staff being too lax about it at the height of the current pandemic. And we were never asked to present our vaccination card or even verbally to declare our vaccination status. Hotel Playafels is endearing to us and we want it to prosper; but they still need to do some work before the 4-star rating can be believed completely.

Good Spot for Transit
Reviewed By drakus10Stayed here as part of the Shearings Classic Spain trip - this was used as the hotel you come into from the airport for the start of the tour and the final night. I thought the room was a good standard, clean and tidy and modern. The hotel has an inner courtyard which reminds you of the Spanish 'Moorish' past. I only had one breakfast here - thought the cold food was more appealing than the hot. Did not eat an evening meal in the hotel so can't comment on this. It is in a residential area so not much around bit quite fascinating to have a walk around. You will hear the odd dogs barking and family get together. It is around 10-15 mins of the beach and some nice beach side cafe to eat in that area. Personally a good spot for transit.

Overall it’s a lovely property worth checking out when near to Barcelona 3 ⭐️

Hotel 139 is a nice and warm hotel in a quiet area, just 200 meters from the beach and close to bus stops. It has comfortable rooms and with bath or shower, air conditioning and heating, parquet flooring and LED TV. It has a beautiful and warm terrace and a bar. We also offer buffet breakfast. Don't wait to visit our familiar hotel for being welcoming for our staff. They will give you a nice stay.

The hotel and rooms are nothing fancy with basic amenities, but since everything else you could need is literally less than a five minute walk away it makes no difference. Nice terrace out front for evening drinks before going out, or for breakfast. Breakfast itself is basic but more than adequate to start your day. Rooms are very clean and staff are very welcoming and courteous. I've stayed at 139 on a couple of occasions for both business and tourism and will stay there again in the future.

Reviewed By 937DavidG937Apart hotel is fine, nice and clean, the walls are thin so it is noisy although not many people here. Girl in the breakfast room lets the whole place down. She is unhelpful, arrogant and very rude to people. She needs to move on or be moved on. A good location ideal for beach and bars. Shame about the bar staff.
