Camborne is best known as a centre for the former Cornish tin- and copper-mining industry, having its working heyday during the later 18th and early 19th century. Camborne was just a village, until transformed by the mining boom which began in the late 18th century and saw the Camborne and Redruth district become the richest mining area in the world. On Christmas Eve 1801, the Puffing Devil (a steam-powered road locomotive, built by Camborne engineer Richard Trevithick) made its way up Cornwall’s Camborne Hill. It was the world’s first self-propelled passenger-carrying vehicle. Within Camborne, Commercial Square has been pedestrianised, with trees planted and benches around the Victorian fountain – a popular local meeting place. Camborne is proud of its many independent retailers, where you can find wonderful local produce – pasties, fruit and vegetables, saffron cake and clotted cream, to name just a few. Camborne has a library and several museums, where you can discover a wealth of information about the town and the part it played in the industrial revolution.

was made welcome by the receptionist when I checked in, the room was clean, the bathroom looked good until I used the shower and found it to be leaking badly.i reported it to the receptionist who said that it will be looked at, it was not repaired and no message in the room to apologize for not being able to repair it,water was leaking on to the bathroom floor.i payed over £200 for 2 nights, not good enough, I've stayed at this hotel a few times since it opened and never had any cause to complain until this visit

Stayed at Camborne Premier Inn for personal reasons and Camborne was the easiest to stay at. Owen was marvellous in helping us book our stay. Our check was stress free with nothing to much to ask of the lovely staff. Highly recommend Premier Inn and particularly Camborne. Thank you all.

Amazing food, amazing value for money. Shame about the service. It took this experience from 5 star to 2. Having worked in the hospitality trade for over 20 years, I expected more. Having eaten here before many times, I'd like to think it was a one off, but waiting for one soft drink, and one coffee, for over 20 minutes, while it was quiet, and staff were chatting out the back, was unnecessary. I even cleared our table of our main course plates, 20 minutes after finishing. I can only hope that someone in a supervisory/management role reads this. I will return!!

Had a fantastic 2 night stay here while I was researching my Cornish Ancestry in the area. I was concerned before I arrived as the cost was only £35 per night, I thought it probably wouldn't be of a very high standard as it was so cheap. I was very wrong and pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and welcoming and allowed me to check in early, the room I had was so clean and comfortable with everything I needed. Breakfast was fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. I will definitely be back.

We wish we never left this incredible place, loved every single minute of our stay. Everything was of top quality and incredible high standards. Great location and only 15/30 minutes drive to the best beaches and interesting sites. Haven't met the host but the maid was attentive, polite, efficient and charming. Will definitely be back at the next opportunity.

We stopped by for a quick drink on our way into Camborne for a meal. It was quiet in a Sunday evening and seemed very much a “locals” type pub but everyone was friendly. A Guinness and a large Wine were the cheapest we’ve had anywhere for a long while and were perfectly fine. The pub is obviously very dog friendly as we had to step over a huge pooch on our way to a seat!

Avoid. This is not a hotel or a relaxing break. Just another traumatising experience of being treated as a tenant. It's insulting, inconsiderate, insensitive, greedy and selfish. Avoid this place, it will ruin your holiday. Its also on a very busy noisy road. We mainly booked this to use the kitchen and we were give allocated, inconvenient times such as 7am for breakfast, 11am for lunch and 4pm for dinner, with no say in the matter. Like many other buildings converted to flat style rooms, they don't care about the people staying there, it's just about the bottom line. Our radiator was not on and the room was freezing when we arrived, tried to adjust this and thought we fixed it but it turns out radiators are controlled by the owner so you cannot control the temperature of the room, it was the same temperature as the outside and the windows are so thin you can hear all the traffic so you may as well be sleeping outside. We didnt sleep, when we complained about the noise and the radiator we received no compensation or refund, in fact, the owner was extremely rude, You also have to sign a long, terms and conditions agreement? weird when you're on holiday and you get tons of emails before and after arriving with a complex set of instructions. Who needs that when you are going on a break. Just avoid for your own peace of mind.
