Although Indonesia is largely Muslim and Bali a Hindu enclave, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Borobudur -- actually located on the neighboring island of Java – is one of the most fascinating Buddhist stupas and temple complexes in the world. Organized tours via air can be booked with Balinese tour operators.

We stayed at the Amata resort for a post wedding photo shoot. My wife had booked the Suteja bungalow. I want to start with: How amazed we were by the property. The bungalow we stayed was awesome. And the staff was so kind and helpful during our short stay. In short we felt like we were in a 5 star resort. I still can’t believe it is actually a 3 star property. Check-in went smooth, and we got a nice refreshing welcome drink. After some makeup and dress up we had our post wedding shoot. After the 3hr photo shoot we finally were able to enjoy our staycation. Like I mentioned, the room was so nice and the staff had it prepared so beautiful. I was in the beginning a little bit worried about mosquitoes, but we slept like babies. For dinner the staff had prepared this beautiful romantic private table with flowers and music. The food was good. I forgot what my wife had, but I had the Nasi Goreng Kecombrang. After dinner we went to the resort spa for a couple massage. I think this was the best massage I had so far. Next day we had our breakfast. No complaints at breakfast. They even had bitterballen , well technically we from the Netherlands would classify it as bami ballen. For breakfast there is plenty of choice, from pancakes, bread to rice and etc. To conclude: For a good price you can stay in the luxurieust bungalow they have. The staff is amazing and you are close to the Borobudur. Only small minus point is: The busy noisy road the resort is located at. You can hear the traffic noise throughout the day. Perhaps we noticed it more, since we just came from a staycation at the Hyatt resort. But we still loved our stay and next time we bring our family. Thank you Amata for our stay.

Cultivated elegance meets colonial charm for a uniquely enchanting stay at Plataran Heritage Borobudur Hotel & Convention Center, set amid the rice terraces of Kretek village in Magelang, Central Java, with Borobudur Temple at your doorstep and the legendary Menoreh Hills as your backdrop. As the only hotel in Borobudur with integrated facilities, adjacent to the renowned Stupa Restaurant and The Heritage Convention Center, the hotel is a discerning choice for leisure and business travellers, infused with the serenity of a tropical garden and the mystical Borobudur ambience. Relax in the quiet refinement of the hotel’s 75 rooms and suites, combining timeless colonial style with comforts. The outstanding hospitality was started even from the hotel Gate. All staff members were like a warm family when they give the services. Modern and classic interior that made us just like a Sultan. My kids enjoyed the pool and the facilites. All the foods and beverages were made perfectly and delicious.

In Saraswati Borobudur International Boutique Hotel, they make sure that guests feel that Saraswati Borobudur Hotel is just more than just a place to stay, but also has a unique culture, fascinating art, and a great wisdom that can guests bring home to.
The building has a lot of character and has an old colonial feel. The reception area is very nice with a high ceiling and lots of places to sit and mingle. The breakfast was nice and substantial served by friendly waitresses. I was a bit disappointed when I went to go for a swim and saw a lot of debris floating in the pool. The bathroom was dirty. Please see the attached images. It wasn’t possible to get a beer anywhere. There wasn’t a bar on the premises. Therefore the hotel felt more like a guest house. To improve the hotel needs to: (A) add a bar so guests can have a cold beer in the evening. (B) clean the pool (C) clean the bathroom.

Situated on the slopes of Volcan Sumbing amidst lush landscaping, this property has the traditional Javanese atmosphere, mix of wood and bamboo rice fields along the staircase. Spacieusses rooms with private terrace, lounge, bathroom privée.Acces directly to the outdoor poolVilla Sumbing indah is 45 km from the center of Yogyakarta and Prambanan Temple and 1 hour 20 minutes from the airport Adisucipto. The Borobudur Temple is 40 minutes by car. Quiet afternoon in the gardens and pool.
My husband and I stayed with our 2 year old toddler at the Villa Sumbing Indah from 5 to 15 August 2020. We stayed in a chaming joglo wooden cottage which is fully equipped with a kitchen, dining area, and TV corner. The whole place is surrounded by lush paddy fields, with magnificent views on Gunung Sumbing and Gunung Merapi. The restaurant serves French food, and a very good and generous breakfast (fried rice, eggs, croissants, home-made mango and papaya jam, fresh juice, etc.). For those who wish to enjoy the green environement, you can step out of the hotel, cross the road and go for a long walk through quiet and beautiful paddy fields. Coming from Jakarta, we really enjoyed that!! Finally what made our stay at the Villa Sumbing Indah most memorable is the staff of the hotel. Ibu Yanti, Pak Christophe and their team are extremely nice, warm and helpful! They love playing with children, so it is a GREAT place to come with children!

The most awesome resort in Magelang, best view and best service from the staff, feeling like your own home. The resort is located in the village only 3 km from borobudur temple. The road is extremely steep, as you can only park your vehicle at the parking lot, and using their car to bring you to the villa. We are staying at first at Villa Diponegoro with amazing architecture inside, huge villa, and amazing view. However, the pool's water is cloudy after some treatment, so they upgraded us to Merbabu Villa with 3 rooms. And this villa even more amazing. The view is extraordinary, we can see the Borobudur temple very clear and the sunrise as well. The pool is very deep, so be careful with your children. The regulation is not strict, so you don't need to pay for extra pax. The food is tasty with low price. And the most calming and happiest are the really helpful staffs. They provide us with 2 private staffs that can help all of our needs, even to buy traditional food downtown. Maybe I have to say that this resort is much much better than Plataran and Aman Djiwo with comparable price or even slightly lower price. My suggestion is to choose Vila Merbabu or Villa Kayangan for best view. Villa Menoreh also offer a good view. But for guests who like indoor more, you chan choose Diponegoro Villa as it has the most amazing craftmenship for the architecture and also larger indoor area. Surely will come back again to this Villa with my whole family.

Merci ??

Bungalow're made of teak wood designed and decorated by ourselves. We're in the middle of the local village surrounded by ricefield 5minutes away from Borobudur Temple. You can meet pure local life & culture such as farm life, regular ceremony of my village etc.
This is our second times here. We're had a wonderful time during our stay at Janur bungalow. We feels like home. Having breakfast by the pool with a great breakfast menu, fried rice, traditional sweet cake, fruits, etc. Our favorite breakfast here fried rice ! must to try. Wake up first early morning and you will see the beautiful sun rise, and fresh air surrounded by rice fields. Rooms are very clean. Swimming pool was good for relax. Great place to stay with family. We're having very great time with walking around Janur, visiting village, making pottery using traditional techniques, visit Borobudur, etc. We are very happy with Janur owners, they are very nice hosts, we will not forget their kidness during our stay. We will miss Janur Bungalow and we will be back, someday
