Fairytale villages, thermal baths, casinos and pine and birch-blanketed mountains beckon travelers to southwestern Germany's Black Forest. Scenic drives and train trips showcase the best of the area. Skiing, hiking, mountain climbing, boating and ice-skating are popular activities. Baden-Baden's Roman-Irish baths, 19th-century performance hall, casino and fresco-adorned Pump Room are much visited. Gothic masterpiece Freiburg Cathedral and its famous Boys' Choir also draw visitors.

It all started when we came late and tired and didn't find a parking spot. The hotel manager let us park in his space and this started a great friendship. The hotel has everything, a spa, a pool, a gym, great bar, rich breakfast. Everything is very clean. The staff is very kind. The surrounding is quite and green. The location of the hotel is very convinient. Best value for money I ever had.

Adjoining Freiburg’s old town, on foot only five minutes away from the main train station, and thanks to its location in a side street, The Alex Hotel in Freiburg is ideally situated for quiet nights. Beautiful rooms. Nice bathroom products.Located right next to casino. noisy at night if you sleep with open window. Breakfast is the same every day - no variety at all if you stay for a long time. Front desk staff is nice, girl that works evenings was very helpful. No free parking, they have parking garage near by for fee and with very very unhelpful attendant. I would recommend this hotel.

Welcome to the City Hotel Freiburg is a pulsating university town with a lot of culture, expositions and conventions. Our hotel is situated in the center of the city, on the edge of the pedestrian zone and is an ideal starting point to discover the city: no matter whether you are interested in the historic or the culinary highlights of Freiburg. Our hotel is managed by the owners and has maintained its charm. The Schultheis Family and their staff are looking forward to welcoming you!
We stayed here just for one night en route to a longer stay in the Black Forest. The location was good as it was a 10 minute walk from the central station and on the corner of the City’s main st where shops and bars are located. The room was quite compact, the shower was powerful, though the cubical was a bit tight. There wasn’t a fridge which might have been an issue for us if we had stayed longer. The room also didn’t have a kettle but hot drinks were available down at the reception. The booking also included breakfast which was good, plenty of continental options together with scrambled egg and sausage as hot options. The only disappointing aspect was no toaster. Overall we were happy we chose City Hotel and would certainly stay again on a future trip to the City.

Massages can be booked for a fee on request and availability. Free parking is available directly in the hotel.
Rooms are rather small and bathrooms look somewhat old but the location is just amazing, with balconies overlooking the city and the forest nearby. Plenty of pleasant rides and walks are available just next to the hotel.

The Novotel Freiburg Am Konzerthaus is located in the heart of the university town of Freiburg. With 219 rooms, a terrace, eight meeting rooms and direct access to the Konzerthaus convention centre, this 4 star hotel is perfect for relaxing or concentrating on work. Unwind with our swimming pool, sauna and beauty treatments. Business travellers and holidaymakers appreciate our central location, opposite the ICE train station, 60 km from Basel International Airport with an easy connection to the A5.
Our trip to Freiburg was wonderful.. The hotel impressively filled its 4 star qualification with just one criticism. The bottle banks are held in the courtyard at the back of the hotel. Unfortunately someone had arranged for the bottle banks to be filled and emptied between 6 and 7 every morning. Not really the most relaxing sound to waken up to on holiday! Could the bottle banks be moved from their location - they are on wheels or could they be worked with at a time most people are already awake? Apart from this issue the hotel had some good features going for it. A delicious breakfast, very comfortable beds and a very handy location.

The hotel is very new and the rooms are cleaned. It’s not so far from the city center , half an hour on foot, 10 minutes by bus. My 3 stars are for their Organization of the breakfast: you have to say to the reception at what time you want to have breakfast but when you arrive nobody check that you are in your booked slot, so people come when they want and the result is that the buffet corner is crowded every hour and there is not any social distance. It’s not acceptable.

The core of this hotel is an 1870s villa which retains its essentially original charms inside and out, including a pretty garden. Its dining areas, used for the excellent breakfast included in the room price, are very attractive, including for the antique furniture. The hotel also throws in complimentary afternoon tea in front of the very convincing fake open fire. The pick of the rooms are the quiet ones facing the garden on the first floor in the main building. But the hotel also has rooms in surrounding buildings. We had one in a converted second floor attic of a neighbouring building which faced a couple of nearby roads. There was some traffic noise but by the time we realised this we didn’t have the energy to figure out the air conditioning. So choose rooms carefully. The hotel is a few minutes’ walk to central Baden-Baden and its attractions. It also has parking (€20 or so a night). Friendly suggestion to the staff: drop the face masks. But overall recommended and reasonably priced by the standards of Baden-Baden’s other historic hotels.

Traube Tonbach is nestled in the romantic Tonbach Valley, surrounded by tall fir trees and gently rolling hills. The historic Black Forest hotel has been family owned and operated for over 230 years. Today, it is setting extremely high standards as one of the most exclusive and modern locations for hospitality and enjoyment, accommodations and wellness, activities and relaxation.
This was suppposed to be a nice family dinner but it turned out to be a dreadful experience. The dinner started very nicely with a very friendly waiter who was attentive and very helpful. After our main meals were served, the waiter disappeared and it took hours to order and receive our desserts and the check. We could have left without paying as the staff present just waived us goodbye! We ordered the piece of beef for 2 and that was a rip-off! There was no way we received 650g. If you really want to go there, just stick to the local specials and arrive at 6pm, hoping that there will still be a waiter when you’re done. Please note that parking is extremely difficult especially when valet parking is not indicated.
