Reviewed By David BStopped here for one night. A really nice place with a lot or period character pieces. Great bar and the food was great. Had an evening meal and breakfast and both were of a high standard. Hotel is on a busy main road but due to roadworks it was much quieter so not an issue.

You feel at home although language differences
Reviewed By Rinoceronte63Although I had to use my bad German, we managed to understand each other. The atmosphere is the one you expect from a german Gasthof and relaxed. What you need after a complete day at one of the biggest agricultural exhibition in Europe. We had a superb Breakfast! Wunderba as german use to say!. The dinner was perfect in the typical german style. The only one small defect: we were non able to use the WI-FI in our rooms. Most probably because we were too far away from the rooter. We will surely come back in 2021 for the next Agritechnica.

Reviewed By Deagle769This is a very romantic looking hotel is in the quaint town of Bergen on the Island of Rügen. The pros are that its in the centre of Rugen, is very clean, has a great breakfast buffet, free non alcoholic beverages in the rooms and a nice private sauna for two. But there was a lack of attention to the finer details of things which make for a good hotel stay, and aren't really hard to do, for example there was only one pillow per person on the bed and they were both as flat as pancakes, I can sleep with that but my partner sure can't, he had two restless nights and a sore neck, the towels were small and unfluffy, there was no drinking water in the sauna, not even a chilled jar of water on a table or a bottle of water- generally the norm in a sauna and not a difficult courtesy, no luggage storage, after checking out we had an hour to kill before our train and wanted to leave our bags at the hotel, the lady at reception could only offer to put them to one side of the desk in broad view of anyone coming in and given she was running around like a mad hen busily tidying than keeping an eye on reception I didn't feel safe leaving them there. Finally we bought a package which included a 3 course dinner, surprisingly we weren't given a choice, nor even asked if there was anything we didn't eat or had allergies to, so too bad if you have allergies. I thought we might get at least a choice between two set menus but no, it was more of a 'you'll get what your given' approach, while the soup was amazing, and the service was expedient and attentive it meant my main course was covered in mushrooms, the one thing I don't eat, they also forgot to give us our free spirit beverage, so again a lack of attention to detail. In addition, as part of our package we had a bottle of sekt in our room, which was the smallest bottle I've seen in my life- a bit stingy given the affordability of alcohol on Germany and a fruit bowl which had some very nice fruit in it mixed with some very old inedible fruit. The other gripe I have is that we were meant to get bikes and a lunch packet as part of our package, when my partner raised this, in German as none of the staff I came across spoke any English, he was given an odd look and very vague unhelpful instructions about going to a bike shop and telling them we were from the hotel, granted it wasn't cycling weather, but it would have been nice to take the lunch packet with us on our travels. I was disappointed with this, if I had wanted to use bikes I expect the hotel to organise this as its part of the package not to send me off on a goose chase. Oh and finally the WiFi only worked for the first hour that we were there.

Lovely hotel
Reviewed By ElleandGlennI chose this hotel based on the reviews. We wanted to visit the Anne frank memorial which is not too far from here. The hotel overall is very clean. The rooms are spotless. The service was good. The continental breakfast was delightful. I couldn’t fault the place. I would stop by here again if I was ever in this part of Germany.

Family stay
Reviewed By Alit1987I stayed here with my wife and 8 week old son for 4 nights while moving house. The hotel was very clean and beds comfortable. The temperature was very high during our stay so the staff were very kind to provide us with a fan even without asking. The staff were very friendly and no other guests appeared to mind that our son wasn't quite sleeping through the night by this stage. Breakfast was excellent with a great selection of meats, cheeses, bread and fruit plus several other nice touches. It is a shame that there is no restaurant despite the kitchen appearing to also do catering for the local area.

Very helpful and polite service from the owner who speaks fluently English and the bear theme is fun for the kids. The broadband of the WiFi should be expanded. No complaints, but at the end of the day the standard is no more than you would expect from 3 stars.
