Set on the banks of the River Dee, we are an award-winning luxury hotel in the heart of Royal Deeside. Last year the Daily Mail voted our restaurant the 3rd best view in Britain and if you came to The Lodge, you would see why. We’re an eclectic, fun and luxury boutique hotel in a country setting. We love pushing the boundaries and our food is famed far and wide.
This hotel was the biggest disappointment of the 8 hotels we stayed in as we traveled around Scotland. The photos made the property look lovely, which it is on the outside. But our room, number 20, was sort of awful. Rotting wood around the windows, chipped paint everywhere, furniture that was so worn and beat up that it should be thrown out (it actually looked like it had been thrown out and the hotel picked it up from someone’s garbage pile and used it in this room). The bathroom was equally awful. They have clearly spent a good deal of money fixing up a nice outdoor deck, but not a penny on this room, which is badly in need. Perhaps the hotel has better rooms, but no hotel with any pride should have a room like this. And this was not one of their cheapest rooms and was over 300 pounds a night. The rooms and food are ridiculously overpriced. The hotel has a lovely location next to the river, but they don’t capitalize on it. At least when we were there you could have a drink on the very nicely done outside deck, but that overlooked the parking lot, not the river. The staff in the restaurant and bar were very nice. The hotel staff was rather cool. While I understand they are training new staff, the only woman who worked at the front desk didn’t seem to know what she was doing, and she was the only person willing to do anything. We stayed here to be close to the castles we wanted to tour in the area. This hotel was so awful it made us regret the decision to visit this area. If we had it to do over again, we would have driven right though.

A beautiful 4-Star Country House Hotel in the heart of Royal deeside. Offering luxury accommodation where the care and attention of our guests is paramount.
We had a lovely meal tonight and it wasn’t too busy. The two soups that we had were excellent and the mains very tasty. We had excellent service and value for money. The lounge area was cosy and relaxing for after dinner coffee.

We stayed for 1 night in the triple room which was fantastic. We were able to check in at 1pm which allowed a very pleasant afternoon sitting across the road by the river in the sunshine! A quick 10 min drive took us into banchory for a lovely evening meal. Our room was huge and spotless. The beds were very comfortable and the ensuite was large and also very very clean. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast the next morning. The owners were also very very nice. I would recommend this place and we are hoping to come back next month as there is a lot to see and do!

April 22. Called in for lunch on a day out in Banchory. Hotel only seemed to have 1 member of bar staff. Placed our order Soup wasn't served hot enough !! But then Fish had to be returned as again just warm but they did replace with a hot one and the mince tatties and skirlie was just that basic. No Vegetables of any kind. Very poor menu choice 0much better can be found. No Chef ever needs to serve cold food and especially when only another 5 eating that day. Hospitality hit hard in Pandemic but Hotel not trying to encourage customers back obviously so unfortunately we won't return. Shame for Banchory.

Thank you for a great stay at short notice during storm Malik. The food and menu was excellent and great to see the restaurant and bar so alive. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and had everything you could need. Very friendly and accommodating with timings, especially with bringing our dog and breakfast. We will definitely be back to the restaurant and would book again if we needed to stay locally. Thanks again.

Stayed here for one night to listen to a live band, our original room was not avaliable as there was a leak in the roof that they were in the process of getting sorted We were moved to a double room that was basic but had everything we needed apart from an ensuite but had a sink in the room so we could wash and do our teeth, our bathroom was right across from our room and we had sole use of the bathroom The meals were amazing value and excellent,my wife if gluten and dairy intolerant but this was no problem, expecially at breakfast, she had the biggest choice she has ever had,we have stayed in bigger chains and they don't cater for he's nearly as good as here. The staff including Craig made our stay very enjoyable and if having a night out in banchory would def stay here again, thanks

This is borderline because the estate and location are so stunning and superb that they make it very hard for anyone to rate this place average. However, a little more complacency about the rooms and we will find soon some people here who will destroy the immaculate 4/5 star rating. The house is very well maintained and its Georgian character passionately preserved. For people who like historic features it is a fantastic place to be. The lounge and the unmanned bar are perfect for a nightcap and a chat. However I would have appreciated if the rooms, in particular the bathroom, had been a bit more up to date with their standard. One can combine historic character with state of the art standard, in particular in a bathroom of a £160 per night en-suite. I was also not entirely happy with the banquet-style breakfast room. As impressive as it looks but it makes the start of the day a bit awkward. It would make more sense to put a few smaller tables into that large hall instead of the one big table.
