A warm and friendly hotel with great food
Reviewed By RoadsterManThis is a warm, friendly hotel with lovely staff, situated in a beautiful part of the country. Highly dog-friendly, with log fires and great views. The restaurant is excellent and our chef, Marco, came out to speak to us every evening to discuss the next evening's meal. The cuisine was of the highest quality, varied and exciting. With the exception of one surly and unhelpful waiter (there is always one!) every staff member was genuinely friendly, with nothing being too much trouble. The spa, whilst small, is elegant and cozy. My wife had two excellent therapeutic massages from their in-house masseur, who, I believe, trained as a physio. We also had some really amazing walks through the forest with our dog, the hotel being surrounded by woodland. Their marketing promotes this as a cozy, magical place - and it truly is.

Lovely country hotel
Reviewed By dmg31This must be one of the best country hotels we've stayed in for many years. We enjoyed it so much, we've already booked to go back for a longer stay! The staff were all very friendly, helpful and importantly at this time, safety conscious (masks worn all the time and kept a safe distance where possible). We had the Landhaussuite; this is a very large room with a adjacent seating area (2 x 2-seater settees), large bathroom with a whirlpool bath and separate shower. A reasonable size balcony gave pleasant views over the village and surrounding hills. In terms of cleanliness, the room was spotless - I even checked the top of the picture frames and couldn't find any dust! Well done to the cleaning staff. Service in the restaurant was again friendly and safe. The tables were nicely spaced apart without making it look obvious! While the menu read like a typical german restaurant, the quality was very good. There was a small amuse bouche and some extremely tasty bread. We decided not to have a starter - probably a good decision as I would have been able to eat all the main course. The wine list had a reasonable selection of german and italian wines - the Weissbergunder we selected was delicious and only 29 Euros - for a 4* hotel I though that to be a very good price. There is some nice walking and cycling in the immediate area - we hope to do some on our next visit. The hotel has two mountain bikes available to rent. Unlike most hotel rental bikes, these are two quality (for those interested, one had XT groupset and the other XTR). Clearly somebody in the hotel appreciates good bikes. Oh, almost forgot, the hotel has gone to the expense of installing hand sanitisation stations in many areas of the hotel.

Cousy hotel at the border of the woods
Reviewed By Julien_VDThe way to the hotel is not best indicated but with gps one can find it even when there are works along the normal access road. Once arrived the parking place is not well indicated but probably there are just enough places for when the hotel is full. When entering the hotel it looks spacious (reception). Our room was on the reception level and the gangway and the room had plenty of natural light. The room was OK and the available space was best used. There was a separated corner with toilet and shower, but the wash basin was in the room. The furniture and the decoration was not new, but the quality was still acceptable as such it was well maintained. I suppose that the hotel was mostly ordered in half board: when we went to the restaurant and we had enjoyed the well done buffet dinner, we had to ask to add the food price to our bill. But arrive in time because the best desserts might have gone before you get to the main dish. The hotel also hosts an Italian restaurant (but it was not open) and a in-house swimming pool (we did not use it). The hotel is located along a path through the surrounding wood : good for a nice walk (no steep slopes). I probably come back to this hotel when I am in Bad Laasphe again.

Reviewed By Wapor321This is a small family hotel with just a few rooms. The staff is friendly and helpfully. The rooms are really clean and ok. The restaurant is good! Tasty food for affordable prices. The breakfast was just "ok". All in all I can really recommend the hotel.

Reviewed By Single-traveller-NLDespite all necessary measures to prevent the Corona virus to spread all facilities were still good to use. The vicinity has a lot of options for hiking and biking.and for visiting some old town centers.

Reviewed By BonglabonglaWe really rnjoyed our stay here. The hospitality is outstanding, we felt well looked after as I had special dietry needs. The food was regional, as well as well prepared and presented with self-made sauces and vinegrettes. You can dine in the conseratory and have a lovely view of the surrounding hills, or have coffee in the rading room or outside- The terrace and garden are bordered by the stream, beyond them are fields with cows and sheep and chickens, beyond that forest. On a hike, we even saw bison - there is a local breed! It is a very hilly area . The hotel itself was decorated with thoughtfulness and freshness - each of the rooms was devoted to a local artist with examples of their work. For breakfast there are local sausage meats, and it is no trouble to get a freshly fried or scrambled egg to go with your good coffee. There is a small pool, steam room and sauna with a small chill-out area, as it is not a big hotel, I found it sufficient and relaxing. The sat nav got a bit confused due to the looping streets so follow the signs.

Reviewed By Carsten BDas Hotel liegt oberhalb des Ortes in einer völlig ruhigen Hanglage. Bis Ortsmitte sind es 10 Minuten Fußweg. Die Zimmer sind so wie man sich das von einem guten Hotel erwartet. Chef und Personal sind sehr nett und auskunftsfreudig. -Ein Wohlfühl-Haus!!

Absage unserer Buchung wenige Tage vor Anreise

Ich hatte schon vor vielen Monaten eine Nacht in der Pension Klein gebucht, da die Zimmer im Bild sehr nett aussahen. Ca. 1 Woche vor Anreise bekam ich dann die Nachricht, dass unser Zimmer nicht mehr zur Verfuegung staende und das wir die Buchung stornieren muessten. Auch bei uns war der Grund eine angebliche Verlaengerung anderer Gaeste. Wir haben letztendlich eine andere Unterkunft in der Gegend gefunden, aber die Stornierung hat einiges an Stress gekostet um etwas neues zu finden, mehrere Telefonate, und viel Aerger, den ich mir gerne erpart haette.
