Wonderful!

I am a solo cyclist and on a whim left Siena to ride the lovely Tuscan roads to Ascion. What a cool village! This hotel was open and I was met by the madam who kindly parked my bike in a locked garage for free. The rooms are comfortable and all amenities are given. It’s right in the town square. I am at the tail end of what should be tourism, I am sure the hotel closes in November. Many scenic areas to visit. Dinner was spectacular at the hotel!

Still our favorite Tuscan “home away from home”

Peaceful, beautiful, and run by the finest couple you will ever meet, Fabio and Maria Teresa Rughi, Agriturismo il Paradiso is the perfect base camp for our explorations of Tuscany. Located in Asciano at the center of the triangle formed by Siena, Montalcino, & Montepulciano, it is clean, comfortable, and relaxing with an excellent pool and nice nearby hikes through the Tuscan countryside. Plus, there is an inexpensive train from Asciano to Siena, which is a great way to experience that wonderful city without dealing with parking hassles. The breakfasts & dinners at Paradiso are amazing as Maria Teresa is a superb chef. She & Fabio (a true gentleman) are warm, friendly, & bend over backwards to make us feel at home during our stay. On this trip, my brother and I picked up a virus and Maria Teresa and Fabio took great care of us while we recovered. It is this level of kindness, along with all the other excellent features of Paradiso, that keeps us coming back every year to our Tuscan "paradise."

Beautiful small hotel - highly recommended

We stayed here in a large group, after a wedding nearby, and it was wonderful. The setting is beautiful, the rooms lovely and well kept, and the people who run the hotel are brilliant! We were in a group, with quite a lot of messing (people not checking in on time, reservation changes at the last minute etc) and yet the couple running the hotel went out of their way to help us at every turn. This is a perfect place to stay in the Tuscan countryside - and the restaurant served one of the best meals we had during our visit. I'll definitely be going back.

Simplicity that was special

I stayed here with my husgand while visiting friends in the area, and it was their recommendation to stay at Agriturismo Dpiinture. What a pleasure it was to stay here. The rooms were spacious, imaculate and contained an eclectic mix of quaint, antique and artisan furnishings. There was a pretty area in which to sit in late afternoon, enjoying some of the home produced wines. Breakfast had an excelent selction to choose from including homemade pastires, etc. Most of all the owner, Isabella was delightful and very sweet. Nothing was too much trouble and she took a genuine interest in all the guests. If we ever return to the area we will certainly book in for another stay. Thank you Isabella to you and your staff. Do not wire transfer your money to them. They misrepresented to us what we wanted. Their definition of an apartment is room. Not an apartment. We had 6 people booked. My wife and I in one room. My 18yr old son and his friend in another room and my older sister and her husband in another 'apartment.' What we got was one apartment with two rooms. One with a king size bed with no private bathroom. In the other room was one king size bed and two small twin beds for the boys, with one bathroom. We were there for my other son was getting married at another nearby villa. We wanted to have the rehearsal dinner at our villa. She showed us where they would have it. In the driveway on crushed rocks. On top of all this, the pool was not opened but was filled with green water. The grass was overgrown all over the property, along with dirty clothes left out. They refused to return our monies. They were rude to us. The mother agreed to a partial refund. She gave us her word. Gave me a receipt for the agreed amount that they would keep (food for the rehearsal dinner) and they would refund the balance. The next day Eleanora, the daughter refused to refund the amount. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Casa Vacanze e B.&B. S.Caterina

The "Casa Vacanze" B. & B. S. Caterina is found in the centre of the "Crete Senesi," the most suggestive panorama on the outskirts of Siena, which is about 12 km away. We have 10 apartments, 6 on the ground floor, each with its own garden and 5 apartments on the first floor, some of which have a panoramic terrace. The whole structure is run directly by the owners and special attention is devoted to all details.

Breathtaking view and location

By chance we were driving past this hidden jewel nestled in the heigths of the Creti Senesi. We drove back and asked for a place to stay. The very jovial and flexible owner named Mery accounted for an additional bed in no time and surprised us with a hearty and italian-authentic breakfast the next morning. The view from the place and especially the pool is very impressing and the colours of the sunset cause an everchanging Tuscan landscape resulting in awe and pure admiration.

An upgraded IBIS

Reviewed By Liztravelsandeats

This hotel is a but misleading to be rated as a 4 star hotel. It is in an isolated location. There is nothing luxurious or spectacular about this hotel, it simply provides the basics to allow you to be comfortable, like an Ibis would. From our bedroom we could hear the toilet flush from the room next door as well as all noise of people walking through the hallway. Breakfast is in a big cold room that doesn't look or feel cozy at all. It was an average stay and a stay just for a half stop to reach our true destination: Florence.

Best in Tuscany

Imagine you are in a Tuscan paradise. Perfectly located on a hilltop, very clean and comfortable room and beautiful views of the Tuscan hills. I opted for breakfast and dinner and I want to mention that it was the best food I had the opportunity to enjoy throughout Italy. Everything was at a maximum level, the attitude towards us, the service, the wine, the little attentions and especially the food.

Castello di Leonina Relais

Castello Leonina Relais lies in the midst of the famous “crete”, one of the most striking landscapes in Tuscany. A 13th century fortress, once the home of the Chigi family it was used as a summer residence by Cardinal Fabio Chigi who later became Pope Alexander VII.Situated between Siena and Asciano, thanks to careful restoration lasting a number of years, in 2003 Castello Leonina was returned to its previous splendour.

Excellent view and food but old infrastructure that lessens luxury experience.

Reviewed By Jet68421252585

We stayed at the Castello di Relais in early September. To start off, the Hotel itself is a very interesting old building (like a castle) and the view you have atop the hill is fantastic. Getting to the Hotel requires you to drive up a dirt/gravel road, which is doable though. We booked a deluxe room (it was called Drago) and the room was decent, however, be aware that due to the old building there isn‘t a lot of natural light coming into the room. The bathroom was equipped with a hairdryer and also a cosmetic mirror. But all the things seemed old and could use a reinvestment. Also the shower was quite small and had some whitewhash on it. The staff at check in was friendly but seemed a little bit confused with our booking, but this could also have been due to the language barrier. The English of the staff is okay but they do prefer to speak Italian. We booked a romantic holiday package which included a dinner, a massage and one hour exclusive access to the spa. The massage was good and enjoyable. However, the Spa hour was an overstatement. Even though there is a Sauna and a steam room as well as an „emotional rainbow shower“ it wasn‘t such a great experience. The steam room was out of service and the sauna quite small (we weren’t able to both lay down so one person had to sit and the other one could lay down). The shower was also a bit of a let down as we couldn‘t adjust either the lighting or the temperature of the water. Furthermore most of the shower had quite a lot of whitewash. Furthermore there is also a room to relax, however this is also a bit small and features just two „outdoor“ lounge chairs and some tea and water. While the Spa wasn’t such a great experience, the dinner was outstanding. The food was exceptional and the staff friendly. Breakfast was also fine and even though the selection isn‘t too big it features a lot of Italian pastries and good coffee. All in all, the hotel is good but we felt it did not always live up to the luxury impression it provides online. The only things that made it really stand out were the view (which can also be had on the surrounding hills also accessible with a car) and the food (dinner is also available for non-hotel guests if you reserve in the restaurant).
