Extra points for good location and Staff

We stayed here for a weekend visit to the famous floating market. We drove ourselves and lucky google maps was spot on for navigation as it is a bit tricky to get to. Nonetheless after a few wrong turns we made it. The entrance of the main road to get to the market is a bit confusing as the lanes are separated quite wide at the light so take care when you are turning in. The hotel is located right across the road from a 7-11 which is really handy. The floating market is about three blocks away if you cross the road. There is a back entrance to the market on the same side of the road as the hotel about a half block away - which goes through a restaurant that has Marvel super-hero statues - and that is definitely the easier way to get to the market. The hotel is a newer property, clean and with a large lounge area where you can sit while waiting to check in. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. The hotel has a boutique feel and it was fully booked on the weekend we stayed. There was lots of parking front and back, and a ramp for access to those who are mobility impaired. The restaurant on the main floor is only open for breakfast. Breakfast was included in the room rate and it was a small but good buffet with a decent number of western and Asian choices and a fresh egg bar for omelet and eggs any way you like. Lots of different juices and teas, coffee as well. There is also a rooftop bar and restaurant but we did not try it. There is a spa which our mum tried and enjoyed the massage very much. Booking is recommended - it was BUSY. Spa staff were very friendly and accommodating as was the front desk staff. They were kind enough to accompany our elderly mum to our room and make sure she was settled in ok. A small elevator or large wide stairwell will take you to the rooms. The room numbers are projected towards the ceiling rather than on the doors - which confused mum as she was looking for room numbers on the doors. Rooms were spacious and clean and used lots of wood. But single beds are small so if there are three in a room - you need to get one of the larger rooms. There was a fridge but it was not cold. There was a tiny balcony just wide enough to fit a chair to sit sideways. We did not use it as it was too hot outside. Air con was available and welcome but a bit noisy. The bathroom double doors did not quite close, but closed enough to offer some privacy. The shower was huge and the pressure was excellent. Be alert that because the shower is fairly open the bathroom floor can get very wet and slippery. Our only negative was it was noisy - you could hear people in the rooms beside us, and in the hallways, and you could hear the television next door, as well as a baby crying. Thankfully, people were considerate enough to stop making noise by 10pm and it was a peaceful night of sleep. All in all we had a vary nice stay here, and would stay again.

A very peaceful resort

Reviewed By MObelf

Whilst the rooms in this resort tend to be a little old-fashioned, they are clean and adequate. The staff here are so friendly and helpful, including the wonderful spa staff. Dinner outdoors by the river on both evenings of our stay was delicious. My one criticism is the breakfast! On both occasions the food was only just warm. Other than that, a lovely peaceful, relaxing place to stay.

Great Local Thai Homestay Experience !

Reviewed By jont53

I originally did not book this place but as it is Songkran period and I am unable to get another resort nearby, I took a leap of faith and book this homestay. What an experience I got in return. This is one of the most cosy place I have ever stayed in Thailand for the past many years. The hotel staff and boss is very friendly and warm and do everything they can to make you feel comfortable. You can see they really take pride in their work and is proud to work here. They have limited English proficiency compared to a normal BKK hotel but still good enough to communicate. The customers consist mainly of Thai people from my observation but there are a few foreigners like me too. The hotel dining area has a view to die for , you can hang around here whole day and you can order food and drinks from their menu or you can buy elsewhere and eat here. The staff is chill about this, which is great. The activity offered from the hotel are fire fly watching for 60B per person at 8pm and give offering food (50B per person) to monk who will come by in the morning at 6AM, both which are very cheap for hotel related activity. Walking distance to the famous amphawa floating market area. The rooms are authentic and declared in Thai fashion. The garden area is very nicely decorated and there is a small bar playing music near where the room is. If you walk outside the hotel, there are other Thai people staying nearby so this give you a great insight of how Thai people live in amphawa area. The breakfast are really good with many Thai kanom (desert) with fried eggs and pad Thai every morning. There is not much for lunch and dinner but if you are ok with mainly vegetable, you can have a good meal too (FOC). I am suppose to stay for 3 days but I extend it 6 instead as I love it so much. A great must try experience if you want to experience how to live like a Thai person. the name is so appropriate , Baanrak which means house love in Thai language.

An overnight stay in a lovely town

Reviewed By DaveJ120

PLEASE NOTE: I have given an average rating. However, my rating would fall between average/very good because of the deal we got. If I was paying full price, it would have be a poor rating. As my wife had some business to conduct in Amphawa, we decided to spend the night there and she got us a deal, which was; A double room, afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast for ฿1,099 (inc.) per person (per person is unusual in Thailand). A good price considering the normal price is shown as ฿4,500 including breakfast (not sure if this is per person. We arrived at around 14:00 and parked in a very large car park and we were transferred to reception by buggy. The reception area was a mix, to me anyway, of ancient Rome and Louis XlV France. We were greeted at check in and it was conducted smoothly. However, we were informed that the dining room closed at 19:00 and the kitchen at 18:30, but we would be able to eat outside on the verandah at our leisure. we were then taken to our room by buggy some 400m from the main building. Our room, which was quite small, and was one of a number of rooms which surrounded the pool. The whole area was clean, tidy and in want of a little repair. The hotel has a museum, which is very interesting and a number of shrines. Afternoon tea was excellent and staff were efficient and friendly. We arrived for dinner at 18:00 and were offered a choice of two sets, Thai or Italian - we chose Thai and to eat outside (BEWARE - if you eat outside there are pigeons roosting up above and are not fussy about where they do their business). For breakfast we were offered a choice of three sets, personally, I found breakfast to be of very poor quality and cold. Coffee was the saving grace. Overall a reasonable stay for the price, but would have been upset if we were paying full price.

A place to relax and recharge

Reviewed By SoloistPro

Highly recommended for those who want to take things slow and get recharged with positive energy. Amphawa is truly the place for a quiet and peaceful weekend. Thanicha is located in middle of everything. With the the market only a few steps away. The tranquility of this place will take you away from the bustling of the big city. Modest but very clean rooms. The breakfast was hearty with traditional Amphawa specialty. The staff and the owners were very nice and friendly as if you are staying with a friend’s family. I went there twice during the semi travel restrictions due to the pandemic in November 2020 and again in April 2021. I will definitely stay here again.

You be could not use the toilet the hand basin or the shower and the floor was very dirty Refer to photos And when we showed the ladies in charge they smiled and laughed I could say more But my advice is do not stay here You also have to carry your suitcase from a third party car park to the hotel about 100 yds and then up 3 flights of very rickety stairs which is fine if you are young and in good health In favour the hotel is in a good location on the river and is very quaint But beware everyone can here what you are doing so keep romance quiet I paid up front so lost 2 days lodging

The first thing we noticed about this guesthouse is that the woodwork outside the room badly needed a coat of paint. Not a good sign. Inside the room there were a number of things that showed us that the owner has little understanding of customer service and needs (we booked two rooms and there were the same deficiencies). For example: 1. the double beds had only one bedside table 2. there was not a single chair in the rooms 3. the bathroom had plenty of wall space but not a single hook to hang your clothes on when you take a shower (what are you supposed to do, dump them on the floor?) 4. There was no soap in the shower - you had to move the small dispenser from the sink, then take it back 5.The bedroom had no hooks or cupboards, only a recess with a bar and two coat hangers 6. logging on to the internet was hit and miss 7. the breakfast was poor: Nescafe from small sachets, eggs and sausages that quickly got cold etc. - for some unknown reason there was no hotplate to keep the warm food hot. This is nowhere near a 3-Star hotel, and we won't be going back.
