Distinctly average bland hotel
Reviewed By Swindon_GlobetrotterThere was nothing terribly wrong with the hotel but at the same time there was nothing that would make me consider a return. It’s rather bland, has little character, no atmosphere in the evenings, and the staff are somewhat indifferent to guests. Reception staff were good, swimming pool and bar staff were not great. The room was big and clean, the bathroom was poor. The shower pressure was a joke. The ageing spa bath something out of the 90s and couldn’t get it working. The breakfast was average at best. Cold potatoes and mass produced rubbery scrambled egg and bacon the only hot option. Cheap and nasty coffee machines. But the snack food at the pool bar even worse. The club sandwich was barely edible. Cheap and nasty fries, and poor quality sandwich overpriced. Cocktails poor and overpriced. Bar man could not mix a decent cocktail. Ridiculous opening hours for swimming pool - they closed at 6pm despite sunset being 830pm! And then of course at start of June they start charging for use of the pool. Low and behold then the pool opens until 7 despite me being told there was a legal reason why they could not keep the pool open gone 6. But anyway to charge for that pool is a joke. It’s just not good enough to be worth a charge. Poor design means most sun beds have a view of the wall not appealing at all. Smoking permitted so chances are you sit on your (fixed) sunbed with smoke blowing in your face and you can’t move beds. Also there is a dangerous section when walking to the sea terrace - a low wall that could be easy to fall over to your death. Accident waiting to happen IMO. The sea terrace itself was better but underused they didn’t seem to serve drinks and food down there and they have ugly scaffolding unfinished in the garden next door. The hotel is a long way from town so would have to be great to justify staying there but it’s just not that good I’m afraid. I visited the baia grand just up the road and the grounds and atmosphere are just way better. So overall it’s 3 star at best and no reason I can think of to return.

Reviewed By DinglishGirlOur holiday to Catania was a replacement for our trip to Crete which unfortunately had to be cancelled due to Covid-19. We found this hotel on LastMinute.com and it looked really Inviting with lovely photos and the promise of plenty of spa choices. Overall the room was clean with clean sheets and towels provided everyday. The A/C was fairly irratic so a couple of nights were poor due to the low uncontrollable temperature. Although there was free wifi this was poor quality and kept cutting out (even when trying to confirm payments for booking tours online). There were no mini bar prices, but on checking out we were disappointed to discover we were charged €3 per 500 mL plastic bottle of water (a glass 1L bottle in the restaurant was also €3 so this made no logical sense). With relation to the spa, there was no brochure and no clear pricing on the website, all you had to go on was verbal pricing from reception. In addition, the website did not mention that many facilities were unusable due to Covid. The breakfast was ok but a bit monotonous as they serve the same thing every day, and the food is clearly bought in large bulk from factories. The restaurant is more like a canteen and while the fresh pizza is delicious and good value for money, the rest is rather over priced. However as there are not many restaurants in the surrounding area you need to venture into Catania itself if you want something a bit different. Access to Catania city centre from the hotel is only doable if you are renting a car, unless you want to pay a lot of money for a taxi (€30-35), or walk (5 ish kilometers), however this takes a lot longer than google maps will estimate as the roads are not overally suitable for pedestrians (pavements will randomly stop on busy roads), and google will send you over the Via Nazionale rather than by the ocean, the former of which has no pavement. Beware if you order a taxi from reception, as the taxi company they use will charge you extortionate and somewhat random pricing.

We picked here because of the location outside the big city and the proximity of the airport for our day of departure ( 18 km ) lots of bars and restaurants to pick from along the front with beautiful sea views out to the famous rock formations. There is a bar and coffee shop on site, rooms were very well appointed,clean, and we had a balcony. Good choice if you want to visit the big city but prefer to withdraw to a quite location come evening.

Very good parking Rooms are very spacious and almost all with sea view. Breakfast is good although some little tweaks might help Super clean both in rooms and common areas. Very happy.

Unacceptable noise in fantastic hotel
Reviewed By David MThis is a very modern, stylish hotel with lovely rooms. Furniture brand new, bathroom and showers amazing. Lovely pool, smashing rooftop garden area, pool bar (pricey) has very friendly staff. The harbour and promenade are 200m away. There is a supermarket 50m away. So far so good. But each day AT 7am, building work starts on the extension to the hotel. You’ve never heard a louder alarm call in your life. So you’d better look on the bright side and make the most of your extended day! And to make it worse, our room is next to the staff office so from about 6.30, you hear them going about their day through the thin walls. What a shame, this place will be amazing next year when it’s finished. Best in Aci Trezza.

Breakfast was wonderful each morning and consisted of pastries, juice, fruit and tea/coffee. Federico helped us arrange our day trips, airport transfers and even dropped us to and collected us from the train station for our trip to Taormina. Would highly recommend

Shady Owners Opening Too Soon
Reviewed By michaeltA3716ANOn the webpage, it's a very nice hotel. A spa, gym, pool, many conference halls, rooms with balconies, a cafe and banquet hall. In reality, it's a shadow of its former self. Very little of it's amenities are actually available. The spa, gym and pool are closed. The conference rooms are being worked and are months away from being ready. The bottom centers and spa look like a crypt and were closed during our visit. Wifi doesn't even work. Rooms didn't even have toilet paper. Electrical issues made one of our companions miss her alarm. Rooms were not cleaned. Beware the shady owners. They conned us into paying for a dinner we didn't ask for. They lied when we asked about the whereabouts of one of our travel companions saying she was in when she wasn't. Significant incompetence with the staff otherwise. The porter is capable of only doing one thing at a time. Only manager speaks English. Very little coordination among the skeletal crew Food was the only highlight for dinner though with huge portions. Breakfast is just deli meats, rolls, and cornettos though. 1/10. Would not recommend.
