Yangon (formerly known as Rangoon) is no longer the capital of Myanmar, but it has experienced a huge increase in tourism recently. Book early, as hotel rooms are sometimes hard to find! While you’re in town, the Shwedagon Pagoda, an immense, ancient Buddhist shrine, is a must-see—TripAdvisor travelers recommend visiting at sunrise or sunset.

Stay 1 night in 3/2-4/2. Overall room is clean and great breakfast. Owner is friendly. Price is great value. However worse night mare in room 707. After closing the toilet door discover no door knob and the metal latch is unable to open up. I have to spend one hour screaming and shouting for help. But in the end I have to kick and break the door in order to get out. Totally exhausted after trying all methods to get out. Imagine if old lady get trapped?. It was the worse bad experience in my entire travelling journey. Do Avoid room 707! Owner compensate a free breakfast for this incident.

YAMA HOTEL & ROOFTOP BAR is managed by SHINSAMPEI CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD. based in Tokyo. Japanese hospitality “Omotenashi” is our reputation and priority. Our efforts and services make your mind “Fresh & Energetic” during your stay.
We booked this hotel using Agoda, and the price was reasonable. The property allowed us to have both a very early check-in as well as a late check out, which was helpful. They have breakfast included in their rooftop area, which was quite nice. That same area is open in the evening as a restaurant and bar. The rooms were a little more marginal, although the beds were comfortable. I am not a fan of wet shower/bathroom rooms, which this facility has, and as a person with balance issues found myself very concerned about a possible fall in the very slippery shower area. The room itself could’ve used upgrading of paint, holes in the wall, better deep cleaning, curtain treatments and other cosmetic issues. The staff was amazingly helpful, and since I was only using the room as a place to sleep, it was acceptable. Wi-Fi speed was quite slow, and sometimes intermittent. As in many areas in Yangon, power failures can happen at any point in time.

A stay at HOOD HOSTEL supports the good. Located in the urban heart of Yangon, HOOD comes from a good intention. We believe that giving to the community starts by empowering Myanmar youths with valuable life-skills. We provide them free vocational training by offering them a chance to work and gain real-world experiences at HOOD. While they learn, you get the experience genuine hospitality.
Aesthetically designed hostel located at a walking distance from Sule Square. The hostel is clean and comfortable. Extra points to the friendly, courteous, ever-smiling, and always ready-to-help staff. I had trouble finding Grab to the bus station. One of the staff even went out to look for a cab. I stayed at the Hood Hostel at the beginning of my trip and went back on the last day, as well (in December 2019)!

Clean, convenient and cozy, Backpacker Bed & Breakfast is walking distance from a variety of attractions within the city area. Various rooms are available to suit any travelers.
This well-located hostel is a great option in a crowded field. The location is very good; staff are friendly, organized and can offer plenty of good tips (front desk are more tuned in than restaurant.) Free breakfast is included, with a Western and Asian option. They have a nice top floor restaurant/hangout space with a lovely rooftop terrace above that (good mornings or evenings/blistering hot mid-day.) Our top tip would be to take a no window room, or what we decided to call our ‘sleep cave.’ These rooms are cooler, darker and quieter than any others - great after a long, hot day exploring.

What a nice hostel! A variety of accomodations, reasonably priced. Excellent location and very clean. Nice ambiance. Very pleasant and helpful staff, most of them have good English. Large and tasty breakfast included. They have a nice restaurant: limited variety of dishes but they are all excellent! Loved the place! Michael and Nurit Israel/Canada

I was happy that we find something to spend all the day inside... I need a rest, can't walk for long distance, than we get 3bed room, but never could to used by 3. The cabinet was broken, the walls was dirty, after cleaning the bathroom, it was fine. It is visible, that they design a very nice hipster concept, in common spaces is up to date, but our room and bathroom was the opposite. There is a time to makeover the rooms.
