Guesthouse and Cafe
Terrific place. Off-season so I was one of two guests. I was met to be given access, very friendly and efficient. Rooms are simple however perfectly fine. The area upstairs is 70's style and very well done. The common area and kitchen downstairs are both great. I had a twin room which was well priced . Bathrooms all good. In summary I thought it had character and was perfectly located and spotlessly clean.

A beautiful guesthouse by the see in Olafsvik, Snæfellsnes. Great location, close to swimming pool and shops.
When we travel, we have access to wifi but not to a phone. If it is your case, NEVER EVER book here. We received a message a few hours before check in to let us know there would not be anyone at the reception when we would arrive, and that we needed to call them. They could have, like every other place we've been to, given us the lock key code via the messaging then, but no, we had to call them. We answered that we could not since we had no access to a phone (well not one with a sims card at least)... We told them we had arrived, we were waiting and would be waiting for their answer on the messaging chat. They answered at one point (or maybe it was an automatic response) to say they would help us with parking when we got there. But we were already there! We told them again... We waited in the car for over 1 hour, no answer from them. It was windy and snowy and really cold (around -1 degrees) outside, and I needed to go to the bathroom... The only reason we got inside eventually was because another tourist who had booked there arrived and let us in... That is it. It has now been 24 hours and they still never answered my many messages... I would have slept in my car if it was only left to them. I can add, on top of that, that we were supposed to come there in 2020, it was cancelled because of covid of course and they never were accomodating, they never wanted to reimburse, they barely wanted to give us vouchers (with expiry dates), and the new dates would not have breakfast like it was suppose to at first (and that we paid for...). All in all, I would not recommend. Finally, once we were inside: the bed were bouncy castles (so springy we bounced when we moved on the one person bed... not comfortable), we could hear everything in the streets (cars passing by, etc.), the curtains would not cut the light entirely and would unroll up randomly, the bathroom were <high school change room> showers, two showers in a room with only a curtain, no place to change in private (on dry floor), the bathrooms were the same, 2 bathroom stalls for men, two for woman (that is it, 2 showers and toilets per gender for the whole establishment)... The kitchen also lacked a lot of things and we had to get creative with it... There was someone at the reception the next morning and she tried to suggest activities for us to do, but I had already all planned my day and by then, I just wanted to leave... Anyway, I would never go back there and I will actively tell people I know not to book there if they go in the snaefellsness peninsula. There are way better places (in Arnastapi for example, we stayed there too!)

Stayed here for a night after coming up to the Peninsula early. Staff was helpful in getting me checked in without a reservation but definitely seemed a little thrown off by a walk in. Good street parking and good location to town and access to the sites. Single room is small but that’s to be expected. You can hear literally everything in the hostel, including conversation a upstairs. That was a surprise for some reason. The kitchen is available but sparse and the common areas aren’t very inviting. WiFi is just okay. For one night this was fine but I don’t think I would stay again. For the cost and no breakfast included and how basic this was, plus a shower door that doesn’t close, I think there are other options that would be better in the area.

Guesthouse and a restaurant in the west of Iceland. We offer rooms with sheared or private bathrooms and breakfast. We are open all year around.
Really good location as a base for stopping on your ring road tour or before heading up into the west fjords. Very friendly and helpful staff and great to have the onsite restaurant (the pizza is ace). Rooms are clean and warm and just what we needed. Would highly recommend this hotel.

A nice overnight stay ... it was cosy and felf like at home. The room was comfortable as well as the kitchen (we arranged a lovely light dinner). It was a good value for money and we enjoyed our stay there. Wifi and parking were also avialable.

Have you ever slept in a theatre or shared breakfast with the local and visiting artists discussing stage lightning and brush strokes? In The Freezer it just might happen, because the social hostel is a part of a vibrant cultural centre, artist residency and theatre, situated amidst the stunning natural sights (alien infested glacier!*) Of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Visit us and take part in creating the unique experience of The Freezer together with international travellers, artists, clowns, cooks, auto mechanics, meteorologists, pancake-makers and sociologists.
What a terrific hostel design! Spots to hang out, board games, music floor with instruments, and a closed in kitchen space to meet people as well. One of the assistants even showed us his fishing boat!! Shoutout Orvar.

This HI hostel is located at route 1, in the picturesque town of Borgarnes, only 75 km from Reykjavík. Borgarnes HI Hostel is located next to the town’s park Skallagrímsgarður and the sport center of Borgarnes including the Thermal spa with its waterslides, jacuzzis and swimming pool. Bus connection to other parts of Iceland and Borgarnes is also part of the bigger capital bus connection. At the hostel you can buy local breakfast, and the communal areas include a guest kitchen, great WiFi and a living room with TV. Different type of rooms, dorm beds available and private twin and family rooms. Tree rooms are with en-suite facilities. It is an ideal location to get in touch with nature, with some of the pearls of Icelandic nature close by; The Snæfellsnes Glacier, Hraunfossar waterfalls, Deildartunguhver hot spring, lava caves and more. Museums on history and heritage are easily reached from the hostel, such as Reykholt, The Settlement of Iceland, and the Heritage of Borgarfjordur.
My group and I spent a good night at HI Hostel, in Borgarnes: the rooms were clean and large enough and we had a great time together in the little area close to the kitchen provided with coaches and sofas (here seats and carpet were not this clean, to be honest). The following morning we joined the hostel’s breakfast, which was good but neither abundant, nor too varied. Bathrooms were also improvable, especially for their number: the ones located in the first floor were not sufficient for the capacity of the whole plan. The overall experience has been good and I feel like suggesting this place to other tourists.

After visiting many years ago it was a pleasure to come back and enjoy the amazing views and wonderful hospitality from Sara et al. Highly recommend. Great location high up up giving a stunning birds eye view of the harbour without being down too close to the late night noise around there. Plenty of showers and seating . Pete

This Luxurious Hostel is adjacent to B59 hotel with 12 and 4 bed dormitory style rooms. the dorm can accommodate up to 44 guests. Each dorm room has it’s own shared bathroom and breakfast is available on request.
I very much enjoyed staying at this hostel. The hostel is one floor inside an entire hotel, the experience is that of a hotel, the room itself is divided into beds as in a hostel but has excellent comfort, the beds are very comfortable. I was lucky and got a four-person room for myself :) Every room has a shower and private bathroom. There is a nice gym in the hotel that you can use at no extra cost. Breakfast at the hotel costs 18 euros, I gave it up. One point for improvement, they should put space for hanging clothes in the bath. Overall a positive experience and a recommended place.
