It has been 53 years since I stayed at several hostels throughout Europe. This place was much more elegant than what I remember then. Here having a bed, sink, and ceiling fan. I especially loved the architectural design and the fact that it was nestled around on older neighborhood. The staff was top notch, answering many questions from an old Forgie like me.

Uncle Johnny’s hostel was a great place to use as a base camp while hiking the Appalachian Trail. Charlotte, Drew, Claire and Brandon were super friendly and the shuttle service couldn’t be beat. The private cabin was a treat.

En Root House is a small hostel in Chattanooga TN that thrives on friendliness. You can expect a comfortable stay and a unique lodging experience. We have 8 stellar pod-like bunks available in our shared sleeping area as well as a private sleeping room with a fantastic queen bed set up. In essence, you could call it a hostel. We aim to provide you, travelers, with a safe and pleasant place to rest while on the move.
Amazing hostel, little stop over for two nights while we made our way to South America. Pros: No keys Clean Showers and toilets are amazing for pressure Friendly staff Close to everything via uber Cons Areas a bit dodgy but don’t judge by its cover I suppose. No doors on bedrooms just curtains on bunk beds. (Noise travels very well from downstairs to upstairs.

Our hostel is like taking a step back in time. We cater mostly to Appalachian Trail hikers, but offer a rustic atmosphere surrounded by Nat'l Forest. We have a store with food & gear. Bunkhouse sleeps 14, cabin sleeps 4-6, tree house sleeps 2. Many tent sites. No TV. We have hot showers & provide towels, linens, hiking advice, shuttles. Group rates available. "Hillbilly" architecture & feel. Unique.
Camping there while hiking the AT was a great experience. Super chill vibe and surprisingly well stocked store for resupply. Hot showers, cold beer, and a delicious $8 supper. No flush toilets, but the privy is way better than the ones on the trail.

As I was exhausted and trying to evaluate my condition, lucky I was was meeting Ben who told me about his parents hostel and gave me a ride to that location. My god, it was a castle look place. Whata nice place to have zero day in an historical place. For only $25, I was allowed to have a room all to myself. Extra clean with a good size kitchen and a large common area that later on met other hikers to share stories. Later on discovered that there is a very interesting and informative history for this building. The room was specious and the original oak wooden floor was very nicely preserved. Hot shower and clean towel added to the enjoyment of zero day. The hostel is run by very nice and helpful family. If you stay there, ask for a tour of the basement and how the building had been built and renovated. I would say say the place is a gem to be discovered more. By the way, many thanks to Ben for the ride to Damascus.

Our rustic EcoHostel is located within the center of The Farm, one of the nation's most successful intentional communities. It is in the heart of the Ecovillage Training Center, and home to Gaia University. The two dormitories, three private bedrooms, one cabin and a campground provide a rustic but comfortable lodging experience in keeping with The Farm's historic character. Our main building has a communal kitchen space where guests are welcome to cook and store their foods. We have many naturally built buildings throughout the Ecovillage Training Center that guests are welcome to explore and enjoy. We also have an Organic Garden and a strawbale greenhouse on site, and the Eco-Bookstore with an interesting variety of genres and titles. The Farm offers a beautiful swimming hole, disc golf course, and Farm Store with many organic food options. Come and live The Farm life with us!
The only problem I had was my cell phone And Internet didn't work as this is in the country. Very peaceful and quiet with lots of quirky hippy And Eco living history. You can rent your own cabin space or you can let together in the big house and communal living

It was Aug 31 2019 that we, I and my wife, stayed at the laurel hostel. A kind of unconventional place but very friendly and nice environment. Originally we did not have plan to stay and wanted to push for more miles. However We run out of fuel and worse than that, we run out of tortilla. The hike was relatively easy, and we got to hostel by 2 PM. There was a note that they will be back soon. We went to the hostel porch and sat on the bench and looked around. The signs were scary and threatening that was very unusual for a kicker hostel. Be in Tennessee country side and seen the signs like “No trespassing, violator will be shot, survivor will be shot again” and many pictures of guns and second amendment made both of us scared and uncomfortable. The hostel door which was a medium size room with 3 bunker beds and a shower on the corner was open, but we both afraid to do anything. We said, make sure to not talk politics and religious with them that both topics can cause a tension. Finally, they showed up. Two men, one older tall and lean with a long white hair which we found out he was helping the hostel. He was a very nice and knowledgeable man. He knew all about AT trail, other hostels and famous people related to At including Uncle Johnny and others. He said he sold all his belonging and just dedicated his life to AT and hiking. He earns his living from helping the hostels management, expansion, or cleanup. The owner was a true Tennessee country man with the accent we hardly could understand. He was a super nice man too. They told us why you did not go in and take shower and we said we got scared of the signs. They laughed and said they are jokes. So, we felt comfortable and unpacked, took a shower. oh hot water so enjoyable it was. The environment was pure poor country community, Simple life, simple mind and simple everything. We bought a frozen cheese pizza that he had and there was a tomato that he let us to add it to the pizza along with some olives. He backed it on a grill on the porch. The pizza tasted so yummy At night, they made a big fire and we all sat around it, drank beer and chat. We talked about National Parks, AT, native Indians, Iran Traditional Celebration and many other topics. I am sure both side would not understand 1/2 of stuff that other side was saying because of accent, but we had great and joyful talk. The owner 19-20 years old son was there, and he was completely different generation. Very polit, nicely speaking with no accent what so ever and knowledgeable. They grilled hamburger for dinner and insisted to join them and of course we did, but my wife be vegetarian became a good topic of discussion, jokes, and laugh for a while. The sky was so beautiful and full of stars with Milky Way Cleary visible. The owner’s house was a next field that was separated by trees and he said his sister and brother living right around in other fields. To prove it, he started making loud noise like wolfs and other animals. Even the little dog was making loud noise like little wolf with his head moving around his neck that was so funny to see. They made us follow them and make same sounds. Eventually by 11 PM, everyone got tired and went to their home/place and we went to our bunk beds. So much fun and enjoyment. Highly recommend this place to stay overnight.

The Station at 19e is a hybrid Craft Beer Pub, Restaurant, Roan Mountain Music Hall & 28 Bed Appalachian Trail Hiker Hostel
The staff does a great job of taking care of customers. Attentive to needs and requests. AWESOME sandwiches. My family makes the trip, sometimes twice a week to this place and we are never disappointed with our experience. Though I drink only Guiness, they have a large selection of beers. The feel of the Station is just perfect for us. Give it a shot and you'll be back. Drunken Mussels--must have. Dave's sandwich--must have Rueben--Must have Club Sandwich--Awesome
