Travelled to Olon to experience the beautiful coast, and I found this beautiful little paradise of a hostal online. I stayed for a month and couldn't have chosen a more lovely, peaceful and safe place to stay. The Hostal is run by a lovely Italian couple, Patrizia and Nicola, that dedicate themselves to making sure everything is running smoothly and ensuring the customer has a comfortable and peaceful stay at their hostel. Both went out of their way daily to make my stay more special and were always smiling, open to having a chat, recommending trips and places to visit, and welcoming me every time I returned to the hostel from the beach. Both honestly radiate a lot of warmth, I would definitely return in the coming years to visit the two of them (and their adorable pets). All the personnel definitely added a lot to the overall experience and made me feel at home - they were always smiling and very caring. Everyone at the hostal went out of their way to help and make my stay perfect. I had to unfortunately change the duration of my stay due to COVID-19 (one month instead of three) and the personnel there went out of their way to help me organise my trip back home (something I did not expect them to help me with) - very thankful to Patrizia, Nicole and Jorge (the hostal's admin). The hostal's rooms surround a beautiful garden filled with palm trees, flowers, and plants, with comfortable hammocks and hand-crafted wooden table and chairs - the perfect place to sit down and relax in the early hours of the hot afternoon or after dinner. My room was on the 3rd floor and had 2 double beds, it was spotless and spacious with a big tiled bathroom, comfortable double bed, and a balcony with stunning views of the sunset on the sea. Breakfast is not included in the price however is definitely worth having at the hostel - with fresh tropical fruit salads and smoothies available every day. Overall, the hostal is gorgeous and beautifully crafted, it genuinely exudes this tranquillity (something I find key when travelling abroad for such a long period) and peacefulness. Patrizia and Nicola made my stay very memorable and joyful, I would go again for the hostel itself but more so for the people there.

OFFICAL DESCRIPTION PROVIDED BY HOTEL Montanita Cabanas are so much more than a bed for the night, a perfect place to make memories, make connections, and love life. We have a legendary reputation for creating a family from our travellers from all around the world. Our guests often can’t bear to leave, returning again and again Our traditionally designed cabanas are hidden away in a lush tropical garden next to a sparkling pool and jacuzzi. Choose from shared and private cabanas with/without kitchen or our little casita ideal for groups. Our oasis is away from the noise of fiesta but only a few minutes walk to the beach. Paradise is enhanced by our green practices of grey water recycling for our garden, composting, recycling, herb and vegetable gardens for guest use.
After staying at the Montañita Cabañas for almost 2 months for learning Spanish in the nearby school, this lovely place feels really like home to me. My room which I shared with 2 other friends was very clean for Ecuadorian standards, the bed comfortable and the shower has warm water. The staff overall was really helpful, but we could find the cleaning staff very often though, it would have been nicer to have them around more available. Also on the weekends the Wifi gets slow sometimes.

You don’t get what you pay. When we first came even the receptionists don’t wear masks, they don’t clean anything they don’t even fill the alcohol dispenser. It’s like they are stoned all day and don’t give a f***k about anything at all. Shared bathrooms are dirty, blankets and sheets are stained. Everything by the pool is old and doesn’t look anything like the pictures. Seriously you can get a better place or even similar in town for less than half that price!

Karukera is a new hotel in montanita, ecuador. We have a good quality service. Confortable rooms whit air conditioning ,, hot water, wifi, bar restaurant. Security 24 hours and we are in the center of town.
Great clean place in the heart of Montanita. Rooms are clean and quite spacious, no huge dorms with fear of losing stuff. About 10 dollars a night which i feel is okay. This place is quiet, great for sleeping after a wild night in Montanita. No safety boxes exist but it feels okay to keep things in the rooms and the doorlocks are good.

Sapa Inka is a beautiful hostel located just 20 meter from the beach and 5 minutes walking to the center of montañita town. Enjoy the view of the tropical and colourful surroundings from our spacious balcony or jump straight in the sea just in seconds with our perfect location almost right on the beach, you will be close to everything.
Our stay here was everything we could possibly ask for. Clean, cool rooms. The perfect location to walk into town or walk to the point to surf. The best owners on earth. Danny (the hostel owner) is one of the coolest guys we have met on our trip and we cannot recommend his hostel enough!!!

Second time visiting this hotel. Stayed here with our tour group and everything was going good until the day we went to check out. One person in our group had $500 USD taken from her purse in her locked room... and we were the only ones staying at the hotel. Confronted staff about the issue but no resolution. Tried to contact the hotel owner about the issue but so far unsuccessful. Stay at your own risk! Will never return...

A relaxed, comfortable and welcoming hostel with an eco-friendly focus. Punto Verde offers its guests a large communal space overlooking the coastal town of Montanita. Our spacious open-plan dorm has an adjoining balcony deck from which to enjoy beautiful sea views. Located five minutes from the town, we are in walking distance from the beach, parties and shops, whilst happily escaping any noise or crowds. Our daily fee is $10 per person, including breakfast. Wifi ...is available to guests, as are the cooking facilities. As well as dormitory style beds, we also have a private room for two. In the aim of minimizing our energy-use, please be aware that we have a cold-water shower and compost toilets in a separate outbuilding. Please phone or email for booking availability.
OK, first of all a disclaimer. This place is not for the faint-hearted. When we went, due to excessive rainfall, we had to climb the muddy hill in the pitch black, the room we stayed in had a lot of insects in it (though mosquito net kept them off us at night), there were any number of frogs and snails hopping and sliding around the grounds and inside and the compost toilets were an experience in and of themselves. You're not staying at the Ritz. With all that said and done, this was our favourite place to stay during our two weeks in Ecuador, partly because of all the above. The owner Joos was really friendly and helpful, and has built the place apparently completely on her own, and deals with any repairs or fixes herself. It really felt like staying at her home for three nights, and she made us feel really welcome. There were all manner of cats in the building, and our room had a catflap so each morning we woke up there was at least one cat in the room to wake us. Unfortunately, we only had time for one meal while we were there, but it was absolutely beautiful. There were hammocks on the upper deck, which had access to wifi, and the view over the town was stunning. I don't know if I'd have wanted to stay in the heart of Montanita, as it's very much a big party town and that might have been a bit much, so it was so great to be able to tackle the adventure of the trek back up the hill after a night out, and be surrounded only by the sounds of nature when we got back. If you've ever wanted your holiday to include the feeling of staying on a surreal kind of commune, with all that entails, this is 100% the place for you. We didn't even know that's what we wanted until we found it. Leave your reservations at the door and go whole-heartedly into the experience, and I guarantee you'll love it. Montanita is a truly beautiful town, and this place enhanced our stay there no end.
