Looking for an unusual and beautiful landscape? Sandstone canyons, flamingo-dotted salt flats, steaming geysers, hot springs, volcanic peaks and alien-looking rock formations are on offer all around San Pedro de Atacama. Hiking, biking and horseback riding are the preferred means of exploration. Death Valley here is surprisingly great for picnics.

I wish I could stay for more nights in this hostel, it was the perfect mixture of social and calm. The people working here where very nice, they helped me with every question and problem I had. The dorm was nice, kitchen was fine, bathroom and shared areas where good. They even had a hammock. Breakfast was included in my room and one morning they they even packed me a lunch since I had to go early in the morning before breakfast started. I don't know what could be better in this price range.

Only 1 km from San Pedro de Atacama Main Square (15 min walking aprox.), Rey Lagarto Hostel offers comfortable private and shared rooms with private and shared bathroom in a typical desert building made of adobe walls and thatched roofs. Common kitchen facilities are featured. Rooms at Rey Lagarto are bright and spacious. There is a fully equipped common kitchen where guests can cook their own meals. The garden and the lobby are the right places to unwind after exploring the city . Rey Lagarto Hostel is 1 km far from the Bus Station and 100 km from El Loa Airport. We have hot water and free wifi in common áreas. We love to organized barbecues and dinners with our guests anf enjoy a great time together.
My friend and I stayed three nights here, all the staff were so friendly and lovely! The kitchen was one of the best we’ve cooked in travelling through South America. Clean and actual utensils! Pros: clean Safe Modern Bed comfortable Friendly staff Tv lounge Couch areas Decent WiFi Lovely sun area to sunbath on the roof and drink beer Cons: You need to walk like 10 mins to the centre but come on we’ve travelled South America so a ten minute walk won’t kill us!

Very nice place to stay- clean and nice staff. Good breakfast, nice patio, close to the Main Street. We felt comfortable and we enjoyed being in the village- quite particular- with expensive stores and restaurants all at the same street...

Overall the place was nice - but not worth the money. The rooms where small and the toilets didn’t flush. Also the place was being rebuild (or so it looks) and the pool looked dirty. Nobody speaks English. The place was clean and breakfast was very nice though.

We had a double room with shared bathroom, the bed was made up every day and the bathrooms had been cleaned early each morning so everything always felt nice and fresh. The kitchen was well kept and the first hostel we felt comfortable cooking in! The showers were always hot. A petrol station that looks to be recently built takes away from the views from the terrace, but the location of this hostel if you’ve rented a car is great as you can get straight out of town and parking is easy. The staff were very helpful, even sorting out printing at a nearby hostel when their printer was out of action. We would definitely stay again.

Read a lot of reviews but finally i booked this place for our vacation in Atacama, And we loved this place. They accept only cash payments, Wifi was weak, but it was fine. Pretty clean, 2 kitchens, 4 toilets with showers. When we stayed there it was warm and quiet. Suggest the place to stay 100%. reasonable price and nice stuff. In the last 1-2 days it was a problem with matches.

A few things about this hostel. Over all it is ok. Rooms are very hot at night. You have to pay 3000CLP for the kitchen so it is cheaper to eat out. Wifi didn’t work. You are not given a key to get in and out. They have lockers but they do not lock. My reservation said it included breakfast but it did not. Location is good though.

A pleasant place in town center, clean, safe, quiet; family atmosphere.English and french spoken by the owner. Moderate prices, solar energy, ecological practices. Stuff support 24 hrs. Totally equipped common kitchen, green garden, table tenis, lounge with free Wi-Fi, free parking, restaurant where optional breakfast is available. Welcome!
It's a simple hostel, but it offers all that is necessary for a comfortable stay. It has a eco friendly vibe which I really liked. I stayed at a single room. Great pillow and mattress, I slept so well! The location is awesome, only 1 block away from the main street. I only had one "problem", 1 time, which was on a day when I got up at around 3:45am (for the Geyser tour) and there was no water in the taps. It was only one morning though, and I ended up using a bit my drinking water to brush my teeth and wash my face, not the end of the world. While I was in town, Chile closed its borders due to Coronavirus, so I decided to go home earlier. The owner was very understanding and only charged me for the nights I stayed. I left Atacama already planning on coming back, and when I do, I'm certainly staying at Hostal Sonchek again. I do suggest, however, that they do something about the wi fi. Currently it only works on the common areas, not in the bedrooms. They told me it's because they want to guarantee the peace in the sleeping area, but I don't buy it. It is important that there's wi fi in the bedrooms as well.
