The Latvian capital, the largest city in the Baltics, is a fascinating mixture of proud Latvian tradition and influences of the various countries that have occupied it. Independent once again since 1991, Riga's Art Nouveau center has won it UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. Opened up to mass tourism with the advent of budget air travel, Riga's Old City and its abundance of bars and restaurants can be explored on foot. The New Town is easily reached by an efficient and modern bus and tram network.

This is the place to stay in Riga. From the jump, the staff were warm and friendly. Matt and Gabe made sure Latvia was a great stop on my trip. They brought us around Riga and took us on excursions such as shooting at a gun range. Great atmosphere, can't recommend enough!

Central Hostel opened its doors to guests already in 2005. In the course of time it changed from a small hostel with some rooms to a relatively large hostel in two floors, where are 22 rooms. It can accommodate 57 guests. The rooms of the hostel are divided into apartments. There are 3 to 4 rooms and one to two bathrooms in every apartment. There is also a fully equipped kitchen, two common rooms, a party room and a parking place available to our guests. Central Hostel is an 8-minute walk from the Central Train station, 14-minute walk from the Coach station and 15-minute walk from Old Town.
Stayed here for 2 nights. The hostel is close to Riga Main Bus Terminal. If you are plan travel to Vilnius or Tallinn, this location is good for you. It's about 15 minutes walk. It is also close to the Riga Train station (about 10 mins) which you can take a train to Jūrmala. The Riga old town also can easily reach by walking distance. Overall is satisfied, nice and clean room, friendly staff and price is cheap. EUR 19.80 for a single room, definitely worth it. Nearby got some restaurant and mini market.

Liberty Hotel Riga is located on the 4th floor of a renovated 19th century office building on the corner of a central pedestrian street of Riga, 100 m from the Liberty Monument. It offers accommodation in spacious rooms with private external bathrooms and free WiFi access. Common area includes family lounge with playground, as well as a kitchen, dining and conference room. No carpeting is used, and there is hypoallergenic environment throughout the property.
The toilets, showers are not clean, so as the all building. No one use mask of the employees. We stayed 3 nights and just the last night the radiator worked since we asked at the reception because it was 1°C outside and really cold in room. All though we asked for an extra blanket but she entered our room without permission, we didnt find confortable the situation. We booked as well with breakfast but the last day the recepcionist forgot it and there was nothing. He had to improvise something with things of the refrigerator.

A cozy and clean hostel in the very centre of things. Social communal areas, beer on sale in the hostel, spacious, comfortable rooms, free Internet, maps, tour info, free tea & coffee, fully equipped kitchen, FREE PHONE CALLS to any country in the world. Special comfort female dorm, various size mixed dorms, family and double rooms. Backpackers WELCOME!
Very friendly place, with best staff ever, taking care about its guests always. When arriving in Riga I was not finding the place at first try, but they called me and guided me (are you already in Riga? ...)! First day Magnus helped me explaing what I can do, etc. The following days Timo from Finland helped me. Then Christina organized a tour, so I also went to that tour. It is like beeing in a big family, with big living room. Breakfast goes until 12, all fresh prepared. Checkout is also until 12. I come back, next time with friends. By the way: they opened a second part last weekend, separate entry, quite for digital workers. They speak nearly all languages.

Located 10mins walking to old town and 5mins from bus stop for the airport. Super clean new apartment with everything you might need. The host was also super nice and sent information to find the place easier. The good winter blankets were more then enough but the heating was also on and appreciated. Definitely good option and worth more then the price paid.

I visited Riga last week with a couple of classmates and we stayed at Elizabeth’s Youth Hostel. Our first impression already was a bit negative because of the shower which was probably cleaned months ago? Well, it was not clean at all. Moreover, the beds were an absolute disaster. My friend and I saw a bed bug walking over another bed. On top of that, all of my roommates (4 person) were bitten by bed bugs and now, five days later and back in our hometown, we all have itchy red spots all over our arms, hands and back. When was the last time the pillows and blankets were washed??? An absolute shame.....

Location: About 1.5 km to the old town, no shops or restaurant close to the hotel, you need to walk about 10 min to find a mall. Room: We took a private room, very clean, good shower, comfy beds and good wifi. Breakfast: very basic, ok for a couple of days. Staff very friendly and helpful 10/10. In conclusion, the hotel is ok for few days but for nearly the same price you can find better rooms in the old town (at the end of April).

Red Nose is a newly opened hostel, located on a quiet and narrow cobbled backstreet of Old Town, just behind St.Jana church.Step outside our hostel and you are ready to explore the city. St.Peter’s Church, Dome Square, The Opera House, Melngalvju House and the main Riga Tourism Information Centre are our closest neighbours. There are several restaurants, cafés, night clubs, bars and shops around to choose from.Bus stop from Riga Airport is 5 min away from the hostel.Boat trips to Jurmala and along the river Daugava are in walking distance from the hostel. We offer accommodation for single travelers, backpackers or a group of students and sports teams. We can accomodate 43 guests in rooms with 2, 4, 6 or 10 beds. Rooms are clean and bright with stunning views of Old Riga. Shared WC and shower facilities are available on each floor. Bed linen included. Some floors have little self-service guest kitchens for basic food preparation.
I stayed for 2 nights with a friend of mine in a twin room with shared bathroom in the last floor. The room is very basic with no cupboard or enough wall hangers. The beds were clean and comfy. The bathroom has washing machine but you have to pay to use it. Towels are for rent at the reception. Reception is not available in the property most of the time. The owner was responsive to our communication on whatsapp and let us check out late. We have encountered some weird guests in other floors making some noise, mostly single men, but we sorted out this issue with them. Overall, the hostel is very basic and prices are very cheap that may attract weird people. So I only recommend this place if you are a group of 2 people or more staying together.

A capsule hotel is a hotel, “rooms” in which are small capsules, where there is everything you need for unassuming rest and sleep. This accommodation option is somewhat reminiscent of hostels that have already become familiar to us, but there is a little more privacy and personal space in the capsule hotel. Our peculiarity is that our capsule hotel is located in the very heart of the city – in old Riga, right opposite the main cathedral – the Dome Cathedral.
I spent 3 nights here in a female only 12 bed dorm. It was great. The location is wonderful - right in the old city, walking distance to everywhere, and easy to find. The dorm was nice. the little sleeping cubbyholes were comfortable and private, had a plug and light, and were just big enough that I could sit up in it. (I'm 5'9".) The bedding was cozy and seemed super clean and fresh. Shared bathrooms and showers were clean and plentiful. Hot water. The kitchen is functional and well equipped. Free tea and coffee. The wifi was very good. AND it was a great value. I have no complaints. There was a small mixup with my room when I arrived just before midnight and they property were quick to fix it. Very responsive even at that late hour. When it was time to leave, they arranged an early morning taxi for me. I would recommend it and stay there again.
