Hostel Nina

A must for traveller through Mostar!

Reviewed By 1bike1world

I was booked in for one night and then after jumping the Mostar bridge and hurting my knee I could barely move. I ended up staying for about a week, the family were so helpful looking after me, getting me food at the shops, running me back and forth to the hospital and getting fresh ice-packs for my knee. Would highly recommend for the hospitality alone. The room was basic but provided a bed and some well needed rest.

Really great experience, Deny helped us with everything and he had excellent recommendations for the town. The room is nice and clean and the location perfect. We also did the tour offered at the hostel and it was an enlightening experience. Apart from the gorgeous sights, Deny makes the tour extra interesting with all his histories. Highly recommended.

Absolutely Wonderful Experience

If you ever have the chance to visit Mostar, please stay at Hostel Miran! Miran & his family own the hostel which is actually the house he & even his parents grew up in.. the common room is his grandparent’s old living room, the kitchen his grandparents actual kitchen growing up. This house is his family’s legacy & he treats you like family as soon as you walk in the door! We were greeted graciously & excitedly by both Miran & his staff. The rooms are spacious & clean & come with lockers to keep a bit of your things in. There was a great free breakfast in the mornings that consisted of more than your average hostel breakfast- eggs, cereal, cheese & meat, bread & jams, cookies, fruit, juice, milk, coffee, etc. & it was all set up in the common room nice & neat for everyone to sit around and enjoy together. We decided to book the tour with Miran the next day & although it was supposed to be a minimum of 3 people for a tour- he accepted to take just 2 of us because it was off season & he didn’t want us to miss out on the chance to see his city & educate us about the war. This was one of the best times I’ve had on my backpacking trip so far- Miran is such a positive, happy, & energetic soul! We danced & sang in the car (Bosnian & English), joked around, & became the best of friends in such a short period of time. Miran felt like an old friend or family member. He told us about his experiences in with/in the war & made us cry because of the sadness of it- but his big warm hugs helped! Miran genuinely just wants you to understand how it was in Bosnia when he was growing up & educate people on it while also opening up your eyes & making you feel grateful for what you have & live in the present! At the end of the day, he cooked us dinner free of charge & we sat & talked for awhile. He called hostels for us in the next city we were going to & gave us great advice- he is what makes traveling worthwhile. We already miss Miran! ❤️

DO NOT STAY HERE! I was left stranded in the dark and pouring rain at 9pm to a locked door. I had booked the night before and was told by the owner that I could check-in until 11pm. I sent them messages that I was there which they read and ignored, I called them 20 times to no answer. At 9:45 I was forced to walk the cold dark streets with all my luggage in a storm to find another hostel. There needs to be an option for 0/5 stars.

Hostel Golden Bridge

It has always been voiced as a nice place to live for its mild and comfortable climate, with over 230 sunny days a year and winds that make the city's air so dull and pleasant. Because of its past, Mostar, as we know it now, has two parts: the ancient, Old City, dating back to the beginning of the 16th century, and modern from the mid 20 century. Regardless of the direction from which you enter the city, you will find traces of the mixing of cultures and civilizations, so that within a hundred meters you can see the mosque and the church and the site of the new Mostar synagogue. Regardless of whether you went to pilgrimage to Medjugorje or resorted to the dervish stream in Blagaj, Mostar will be part of your journey. We dont want you just to sleep over, pay and go. We want you to get to know us, our history, to have fun, make memories and to tell the world about our city.

If you are homesick while travelling across the balkans, go to the Golden Bridge hostel and Stefan will take care of you from the check in to the check out 24/7! This is what hospitality should be like, but unfortunately it is extremely rare to find! Big hug to the dragons!

Address Cernica Tutina 15Really beautiful hostel, where to spend your vacation. It's near famous Old Bridge, a historical Old Town in Herzegovina. We can accommodate up to 20 people! - Mediteranian style house with swimming pool.Address Cernica Tutina 15This hostel is located at downtown Mediteranian House is located just 7 minutes on foot from Old Bridge. The rooms are large, cool to protect you of the summer heat and warm in the winter time, with a specific charm, When you will have dinner in the summer house you will surely appreciate the magnificent landscape of the mountains, but also the roses in the large yard and the murmur of the river Neretva from the back of the garden. At the end of a holiday spent at Mike Hostel, your only regret will be the one that you didn't stay here for a longer time.

SECURITY ISSUE! THEFT FROM ROOM

Reviewed By Robert N

I stayed in a private room. Whilst out sightseeing someone had entered my room and stole a significant amount of money from my bag. I locked the door and closed the window before I left. Someone, probably a member of staff, who has access to the spare keys is stealing from guests. I saw a review on Booking.com where a fellow traveller experienced exactly the same type of theft the previous year. AVOID!

Hostel Lovely Home

Small and familiar but too many mosquitos

Reviewed By stella p

The owner of the hostel is really kind. He is not there all the time, but luckily I had a phone with wifi , so I could connect with him with the wifi that he has written outside on the board. (just maybe not so handy for people with no smartphones.) The hostel has only two rooms downstairs and Im guessing that another couple of rooms upstairs (I didnt go upstairs.), plus a living room and a bathroom, so it was quite cosy and familiar. The owner makes sure not to have any drinkers or party people and the common room shuts at 23:00. I find this cool to sort of ensure a good nights sleep, on the other hand i find it incoherent that people can come in at any given time from the street, and i cant come in from the common room at any given time. I understand he wants to avoid noise, but if i am by myself, its the same story as coming in from the street. I just missed a place to work and do my stuff after these hours, on the other hand it was not the most important thing. In my opinion, the owner talked a little too much. He was kind but I didnt personally feel like listening to so many stories as I had stuff to do. I couldve also stopped him myself. I didnt want to be rude, but I couldve at some point. For me it was too repetitive. The hostel is located on a bit of an alleyway. The location is centrical and close to the bridge and to the places where I needed to go, but it was not in a main road , it was like an alley. I came at night, so it was a bit strange, but i was told it was a safe street. The main reason I wouldnt stay again is the number of mosquitoes...I was completely bitten. Maybe they could have some nets in the windows or anti mosquito thingy to plug in. You can leave your luggage there for 5 euros, and if you finally stay, the rest is discounted from there. I found it a bit strange as well if i wasnt going to use the toilet or bathroom. He does it for people who want to make use of that when checking out. Maybe there could be a different price for those who just want to leave the luggage and pick it up at a convenient hour, and make this cheaper.
