Reviewed By starlaOttawaDon't use any other directions to get there, besides the ones on Baidu Maps. Those are the most accurate. So, if you're planning on going to Shenyang, please look up this place on Baidu Maps, or call ahead. They have changed locations in the last month. It's now in a beautiful new huge grey and yellow building just off 13 Wei Jie. Anyway everything is at this new location is brand new and spotlessly clean. There is an english corner event on Tuesdays. Not sure if it's weekly or not at the moment. As per other reviews, yes, please bring your own toilet paper. This should not be surprising to anyone who has ever spent any time at all in China. The beds are the biggest dorm beds I've ever slept in and there's lots of shelf space for your stuff. The showers are nice and warm and everything is being constantly cleaned by the friendly staff. If you need any information they are very knowledgeable and most speak at least average English.

Reviewed By Yo_DennisI stayed for three nights in a private room at the Buzzlight. The room was clean and very good for the price. However, construction works on the opposite side of the street made me start the days early in the morning at that time (which was not too bad ;-)). The social room is really lovely decorated and you always have company by a couple of cats living there. Among the staff there were always english speakers available. They serve proper food – including custom tailored vegetarian noodle soup on request – coffee and a selection of foreign beers and craft beers (but no really cheap options!). In total the place is friendly, safe and well-located with access to a park, from which you can depart for a walk along the coast. However, it takes some time to get there by bus from downtown; but the bus can be easily found on the vertical main road, straight opposite of the central train station, and the schedule is even supplemented with latin script. When getting off the bus, just watch out for the Qwik supermarket and walk behind it. Overall, a nice place to stay at, and I will hopefully come back one day.

Reviewed By DanielleLYI stayed 2 nights in Sanpi back in 2009 and it was really a rewarding experience,i never expect it to be so nice actually cuz shenyang is not a really interesting city after all. but the cosy bed, nice environment around the hostel ,friendly staff and visitors did make it really special. cheap,comfortable,clean,and you can know from the moment you walk in that the owner really put his heart in doing this, providing a place for people all over the world to meet and stay. you should go

Its alight, but not a place for summers
Reviewed By Saif RI stayed there for 3 nights and did not have any problems. The main reason I choose this place was because it was pretty close (about 30 minutes walk) to a 4star hotel (where I was attending a conference) and it cost me 70 Yuan per night in a dorm room with 8 beds as opposed to 450 at the hotel where the event took place. Since there was no one in the dorm except me, I had the whole room to myself. But it would be crowded if all 8 beds were occupied (4 bunk beds) It is about 5 to 7 minutes walk from the bus stop. Number 5 bus from Dalian railway station travels to the bus stop near this hostel. Its a little more than 4 KM from the city center but closer to places like gardens and Zoo and good for budget travelers since they can find buses to these places. The beds are hard as in most of china, there are no fans of AC in dorm rooms so I will NOT recommend it for summers. Luckily for me it had rained and the weather was temperate. The shared toilets are clean. The showers in the bath are pretty good, good water pressure and very good supply of hot water (did not run out for the 30 minutes I used it). The water does leak out from under the door so be careful when you leave the bath. There are water heating kettles and quite a few cups so you can make tea/coffee for yourself. There is also a bar at the reception but I did not try it so can't say anything about it. There is free wifi. There are quite a few books but most of them in Chinese and maybe some other languages, nothing in English. There is a small shop right outside where you can buy stuff like cold water, biscuits etc. A much larger market with shopping malls etc on the main road a little further down the road from the bus stop. There is also a McDonalds there, about 15 minutes walk. There is a farmer's morning market in the open area in front of the shopping malls etc from early morning till 9 AM. There are all sorts of shops on the roads around the bridge. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the lady in charge can speak good English. I would recommend it to group of travelers on a budget who won't mind sharing a dorm room. AND only in TEMPRATE and Cool weather. NOT for HOT weather since there are no fans and AC in the dorm rooms. They do not allow children so not for families. Their room rates are kinda high and I would recommend looking for other nearby places which are much better with slightly higher rates. PS: Mosquitoes in that area in hot to temperate weather, so take some mosquito repellant and use the electric repellent provided in the room. Its cheaper to book a room/bed via phone compared to online booking websites, search the name in google and you will find the number on one of the pages.

Reviewed By dina20091כל כך נהנינו מהמלון , השירות היה מצוין , הצוות היה קשוב ונכון לעזור בכל שאלה , החדרים מפנקים ביותר ויש בהם הכל... החל ממיטות הכי נוחות שאפשר לבקש , וכלה בקרש גיהוץ ומגהץ (בזה עוד לא נתקלתי).....המלון נקי ומצוחצח , ארוחת הבוקר עשירה והשרות.....חדר כושר חופשי , סאונה חופשי .....ביום גשום תוכלו לקבל מטריות ....המלון ממוקם במקום מרכזי במרחק הליכה מכל האתרים התיירותיים.....מה עוד אפשר לבקש ?

Reviewed By Jane GNevermind the 'youth' in the name, at age 47 I was welcomed just fine (though yes, everybody else there was indeed young). There was a problem with my booking (I had booked through a hostelling website), and the staff was unable to find my reservation, but they were able to accomodate me at the expected rate. I stayed in a four-bed female dorm room which had a bathroom attached. Western toilet with the usual toss your tp into the bin. The hostel was clean and the staff friendly. The location isn't the best - it's not near any of the sights. BUT, the buses are very near - the bus to get to many buses was right across the street. Apparently there is a university nearby, which means loads of tasty, cheap street food was available right around the corner. The distance from tourist destinations is the only thing keeping this from a 5 rating from me.
