Moreno's Horseback Riding

Great day of riding in and out of the canyons of a park reserve to a waterfall. Rafael Moreno and his partner really care for their customers. It’s a great adventure and a day off of the beach.

Rejj Smooth

I am happy. I grew up in LA and am a Vietnam vet. I served in the Air Force. And I learned how to be happy and teach others this magic. Connecting with nature on the back of a horse crossing a stream or holding your breath as a sea turtle swims under you is a healing force that will affect you in surprising ways. Day to day living makes people forget how to be in the world but not of it. I think I've got it nailed.

Yesterday I joined my new Scottish friends visiting their sister and aunt, Kay, also from Scotland, who had booked this horse riding tour at Stephanie Decker’s Ranch!! I was so happy because I have wanted to do this since I heard about it 3 years ago! I want to say thank you to Stephanie and Carlos, her Trail Boss Ali, and all of her beautiful, sweet horses, for the perfect 2 hours riding the trails above Lake Chapala!! We are all novices, to say the least, but we were given constant guidance and gentle, direct and timely instruction by her skilled Team of 3. Her Rancho is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and the gorgeous horses were running, romping and playing in their pastures while we enjoyed meeting her pet pig and giving him his favorite ham slaps! It is a wonderful trip for anyone to take, tourists or residents!!

This was a fantastic way to see some beautiful scenery in Puerto Vallarta! The horses were friendly and well behaved, and assigned by skill level. We booked the 3 hours jungle ride and it was awesome! The owner and her son were great and the guides(Tomas and Antonio) were knowledgeable and skilled. Truly worth the time and money spent on this one!

Rancho Manolo

Reviewed By goldyray - Mismaloya, Mexico

I wasn't a fan of Arnold or the Predator movie so seeing the "Predator movie set" wasn't at the top of my list. However, I didn't realize the movie was filmed at such a beautiful, wild, yet peaceful jungle setting. This is where we rode. The Mismaloya river is clean, clear, with surprising waterfalls over boulders with delightful swimming holes in the jungle/ Rain forest and then you get the amazing views of the mountains, trees, birds, & the little Mismaloya village. Would suggest calling and making arrangements with Victoria (who is wonderful) perhaps for earlier in the day when it's cooler and before the buses go bringing everyone up to the set for lunch. Although there's plenty of room up there, and when riding on the road, there is room for buses and horses, and everyone gets by just fine, and the horses are really used to the routine. Chava was our guide and took very good care of us. An off the beaten path adventure we really enjoyed. We love the locals here in Mismaloya, everyone is kind and welcoming and we loved this experience! Quite an adventure! Thank you Victoria & Chava! Nice way to start the new year! P.S. wear long pants if you can. You can take the Boca, Mismaloya bus south or a taxi out of P.V. to the Barcelo Hotel to get to there. Horseback touring: A much better way to enjoy the views (rather than the noisy, polluting, ATV option!)

Back at the ranch taste our great margaritas made out of Habanero, Jalapeno, Serrano Chiles as well as the traditional or cold beer, Mexican lunch is included. Tequila tour is included also. This is a must do trip if you are not an experienced horseback rider or if you have been riding for years. My family of six spent the day at the ranch with coffee in the morning then on horses through the river and forest to an amazing waterfall where we swam and cooled off. Back on the horses through an authentic Mexican town and back to the ranch where lunch was waiting for us with top shelf food, drinks, and service. Transportation back to the hotel provided with the best guide in all of PV. Obed Castaneda was our guide and took care of every need and detail. Do not miss this trip if you are in PV. Not a better value for the price and memory.
