Nomadic tribal heritage and modern society co-exist in the UAE, a federation of seven emirates at the southeastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula. Look beyond the desert that consumes four-fifths of its area and you'll find UAE capital Abu Dhabi, an oil-rich city of skyscrapers, parks and malls, and Dubai, with its split personality of luxury resorts and covered marketplaces, upscale boutiques and local artisans. For a break from urban sprawl, journey over rolling red sand dunes into the Hatta Mountains, where the 200-year-old Sharia Mosque sits amid 30 restored buildings of sandalwood and mud.

The iconic Dubai Creek area is the home to our museum, where visitors can experience the vibrant history of Dubai. It was developed as part of an initiative to transform the creek into a regional culture and traditional centre. Shindagha Museum tells the universal tale of human innovation, resilience, and the desire for progress which shaped the Dubai of nowadays.
We visited both the Creek House and the nearby Perfume House and I have to say both were fantastic, the perfume house unexpectedly so! As part of Art Dubai we had a private tour of both and loved it. I did not expect much from the perfume house but as it was included in the tour, went in. Our guide was fantastic, so knowledgable and bubbling with enthusiasm, that the story of perfumery really came alive. It was fascinating to learn about the different types of fragrances used and how they are still made today with natural ingredients. I would definitely recommend this unexpected gem. Creek house unfolds the history of the growth of Dubai through the development of the creek and highlights the amazing foresight of the rulers at the time. It is also highly recommended for everyone. The short film is not to be missed as it evokes the life of the pearl divers and that whole era gone by so effectively. Do not miss the interactive videos of those who lived through the early times of Dubai.

This intriguing archaeological museum takes visitors through the Stone, Bronze and Iron ages and provides educational games for children, videos in Arabic and English and other creative touches designed to make learning fun.
I decided to go to Museum of Archeology in Sharjah for their temporary exhibition of “The Echo of Caravans: Pre-Islamic Civilization Sites in Saudi Arabia” (until Jan 31, 2019). I enjoyed this exhibition a lot and since getting a tourist visa to KSA is very difficult, I did not want to miss it. Plus KSA is a big country, it requires commitment to visit these major sites on one trip. The museum also houses many precious and significant artifacts from the archeological sites in UAE. There are many things that I love, but specifically, the gold horse bridles. The reconstruction of the tomb of Al Buhais 18 is another favorite - especially how the jewelry of one of the women buried there was excavated as it was found settling on her crushed skull. Very interesting. For archeology enthusiasts, this museum is a must-see.

Probably one of the best museums in the area. Lot of information, lot of objects, lot of hi-tech illustrations and good lighting. If you want to become knowledgeable about the area of Sharjah and its history, you'll enter basically a history book. As a history buff, you will enjoy it. If you are more on the shallow side, you'll be out in 10 minutes.

We tremendously enjoy the amazing arts, the unique way art pieces are presented, the clear mind openness this museum offers to the region, and the beauty of the building itself (outside and inside). The restaurant by the water was excellent too. We came back 3 times so far to Le Louvre Abu Dhabi !

This museum uses life-size dioramas to depict everyday Dubai life in the days before the discovery of oil. Galleries recreate scenes from the Creek, traditional Arab houses, mosques, the souk, date farms and desert and marine life.
Did a City tour that included Dubai Museum, very interesting and well displayed. It was not too crowded and it is definitely a place to see if you only have a few days in Dubai.
