It’s not in the exact spot that’s in TA. On the upper street in Mijas. Documents that date back to 1507! Lots of posters etc. Nice place to visit.

Built between 1057 and 1063, this is probably the most important military fortification remaining from the Hispanic-Arabic period.
This Moorish castle in the centre of Malaga is a must see for any visitor - not only offering unparalleled views over the port, cathedral, park and city but stretching over to the mountains behind. Breathtaking rooms and decoration, the usual fantastic Mozarabic flowing water features complement the week preserved and restored structures - what an elegant and massive fortress. There’s a nice little bar half way up the route and best of all it costs little more than £2 less for concessions.

We returned to Malaga for our third time in 4 years, and having seen the "usual" sights were looking for something new. In our wanderings we happened on the Museo de Malaga in a very imposing building overlooking the park and the Port. The exterior does not really give a clue to the treasures of history to be found inside. From the History of Malaga to the Archaeology from the Phoenicians, to the Romans and beyond, and a wonderful Art exhibition...its all there. We are not history buffs, but found the scope and presentation of the exhibits superb. All of this can be topped off with avisit to the rooftop restaurant , and Bar which is welcoming and informal, and with beautiful views of the Gibralfaro and the Roman Amphitheatre.... .Put Museo de Malaga on your list....AND ITS FREE ADMISSION for EU citizens!!!

Bandolero museum consists of four galleries: Gallery of the Romantic Travellers. Exhibition of paintings of that time as well as several historical documents, like birth and death certificates, edicts, royal laws, etc. Gallery "Living the Bandits world". It consists of dioramas, pictures, weapons, money and coins, official stamps, paintings, etc.Gallery "The Men and the Names". It is dedicated to the better known bandoleros (bandits) still remembered and who belong to the romantic age of the Bandits: Diego Corrientes, José María El Tempranillo, el Tragabuches. Gallery "The ones who followed the trace". Special mention to the Guardia Civil (The Civil Guard was the local police at the villages), a police spezialized in the fight against bandits. It shows their clothes, pictures, documents, etc.
If you have kids, they would love this museum. Full of bad guys! We were fascinated. And couldn't help thinking of Robin Hood in the UK, Stagecoach robbers in America, and Ned Kelly and bushrangers in Australia. All colourful and mythologised characters. It has plenty of text/information too. Good place to visit for young and old.

Apart from the usual pots and paintings, this museum has plasticine models of the most important events in Malaga's 19th Century history. The models are wonderfully detailed and carefully explained. There's also a very interesting multimedia exhibit that shows you Malaga's history in sound and image superimposed over a relief plan of the town. The staff in this museum are very helpful, including the front desk and all the staff on each floor. I have rarely enjoyed such an interesting town museum.

We visited the museum whilst on holiday. It has lots of information and artefacts about Nerja caves. It is a very modern building with a changing exhibition space. We enjoyed finding out about the different industries and the hsitory of Nerja. It would have been good to have some more recent history about the changes tourism has made to the area. It is free entry for EU citizens on Mondays.
