Claude was prompt in picking us up from our hotel in Lille and then took us to see the final resting places of two of our family members, who were both killed in 1918. He was very flexible and worked in with our plans to visit these two graves at two different war cemeteries. He then took us around numerous battlefield sites and war cemeteries, involving New Zealanders, and his knowledge was first class. For that special day in connecting with those special soldiers, contact Claude and he will make it happen.

My wife and I did this tour with Claude. Two points to put peoples minds at ease. First, is that he was on time and his vehicle was very safe, comfortable and reliable. He went through great lengths to keep us on time to what was a very full-day schedule. Second, is his knowledge about the region and the war itself. He knows the full-background and history of the great war and his knowledge of the military regiments is outstanding (Canadian, British, German, Australian, French, etc). In particular, I was interested in the history of the PPCLI in the region and was not disappointed. His family has lived in the region for generations and this brings a personal touch to the the tour. We were not disappointed.

Waterloo is the site of one of the most significant battles in European history. Your five-hour guided tour of Waterloo will become a day in your memories that you will treasure. Your private tour of Waterloo begins as you climb the Butte de Leon, (Lion's Mount), the hill that marks the battlefield where over 300,000 soldiers clashed in a momentous confrontation. At this site in June of 1815, the Duke of Wellington led the allied English, Dutch and Prussian forces in Napolean's final defeat. Along your private guided tour of Waterloo you will also have the chance to see the magnificent Panorama , which is a fascinating fresco of the battle with exciting sound effects. We'll also visit the inn that became the headquarters for the Duke of Wellington, and the old farm, Le Caillou, that was Napolean's headquarters. If you wish your tour can be extended to include a private tour of Le Quatre Bras, and Ligny, the site of Napolean's last victory.

I wanted to go to some sights and museums that were not on any tour I could find, so I contacted Michael and ask if he would do a custom day tour from Brussels to Bastogne. After I told him where I wanted to go, we agreed on a price. He picked me up promptly at 8 AM, drove me to Bastogne and spent the day taking me from one museum to another. At the Bastogne Barrack’s museum, part of the exhibit was outside. The weather had turned cold (28*) and I did not have a heavy coat. Michael insisted that I wear his heavy coat while he remained in the car. This is the most accommodating man I have ever dealt with and he exceeded my expectations. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

My husband and I travel constantly all over the world and ALWAYS hire private guides. I cannot recommend Joyce highly enough. I am extremely particular about everything--from the type of car we travel in, to choosing the best five-star hotels wherever we go, to where we eat each meal. I enjoy working with a guide who knows the region well and can make knowledgeable recommendations; one who will help me plan our itinerary down to the last detail. Joyce has the patience of a saint; she not only planned ONE detailed itinerary, but when a health issue potentially interfered with our plans and we had to make some major adjustments to both dates and places, at the last minute she she ended up planning a SECOND totally different vacation for us (though I strongly recommend you book as early as possible--since she has many repeat customers, as we will no doubt become!). Not only is she extremely reliable and punctual (I don't think there was one email of the innumerable ones I sent her that was not answered within a few hours--even with a six hour time difference to the US from Belgium!), she also has a great personality. You will no doubt find her charming and extremely accommodating. No matter where we went, the locals knew her and adore her. Instead of the usual tourist traps, she took us places we never would have found on our own (including a chocolate store where we bought the best chocolate ever). No matter the request, she did her very best to fulfill it. On our last day, she even arranged to retrieve my fur hat from a restaurant in Ghent where I had accidentally left it (nearly an hour away) and have it delivered to my hotel! Joyce definitely goes "BEYOND" what you hope for in a guide!
