We had a wonderful day with Takashi as our guide. We visited Arakura Sengen Park and Shrine, 4th Station, Wind and Ice Caves, Mt Fuji Panoramic Ropeway and Oishi Park. We were very lucky and got to see Mt. Fuji all day. Takashi was very knowledgeable about all sites and the history of Japan and we would highly recommend this tour.

I took part in the SIEN group tour of Kyoto on Saturday 24th November, 2018. We were lucky to be accompanied by Ryoji Shimada, who is both the leader of the SIEN group and a professionally licensed tour guide. The tour lasted from morning to night and Ryoji showed us all the best places in Kyoto where we could see the wonderful autumn colours. We went to famous and popular temples and shrines, but Ryoji also took us to special interesting and beautiful places which are unknown to the general hordes of tourists. I especially enjoyed the light-up of the temples after dark during the autumn foliage season and the tour around Gion at night. An unexpected bonus was the half-day tour to beautiful places around Lake Biwa in Shiga-ken for those who were staying an extra day on Sunday 25th November. I would thoroughly recommend Ryoji as a tour guide and am sure if you decide to go with him, you won't regret your choice!

At noontime, we will take you to a long-established Japanese restaurant for live performance of Tsugaru-shamisen over traditional cuisine. Since it is a small restaurant with a limited number of seats, the performance is presented in its pure acoustic simplicity-- without the aid of electronic devices. Enjoy the music in intimate proximity to the musicians. Its deep and passionate melodies leave audience mesmerized. Since this restaurant is one of the hardest to reserve, we will manually but promptly confirm your bookings. And of course, the tour preceding the visit to the restaurant is one of a kind. Our tours are limited to 8 guests to ensure a personalized experience so you can be you: curious, spontaneous, and always hungry for more! Our guides bring you the best of both worlds in tourism: local knowledge, genuine friendliness only natives can bring, and an expertise earned through additional training on top of their official national tour guide certification.

The flexibility to chose locations that suited our wants and abilities was great. Hiro San was very quick to put together an itinerary that accommodated a family with a stroller-baby (no monkey park due to long unpacked walking paths). Taking in the beautiful temples and view of the Kyoto from the west was breath taking and the guide was able to explain many things we as new Japanese learners could not read or know through cultural knowledge. Overall a great experience, a wonderful and lively guide, and some great memories.

Such a warm welcoming tour coming to Tokyo. Goto-san made sure we had a great time adapting to our search in trying the best local Japanese sake found in spots we never could have found. So many hidden treasures in Japan... and the prices were in cheap!! We didn't know what to expect but at the end of the night we were drinking without a worry and he made sure we got back safe way after our tour was finished.

While we were sad to have to cancel our July trip to Japan due to the pandemic, we found the process of working with Japan Awaits to be easy and efficient. I can't speak to the full experience since we weren't able to go, but filling out the form and our communication with the company was no problem. And their prompt and courteous response to our request for a refund speaks to their professionalism. We will definitely come back to ask for their help in procuring tickets to the Studio Ghibli Museum when we do finally make it to Japan! Fingers crossed for next summer.
