A blending of several small villages on the southwestern coast created the current incarnation of Kochi (or Cochin), where sunset strolls, sampling fresh fish from seaside vendors and boat rides through the islands just offshore top visitors' to-do lists. Art centers showcase the traditional dance, Kathakali. European influences are seen in the 16th-century Portuguese-built churches and forts, while the mark of early Chinese traders is visible in the unusual fishing nets dotting the shoreline.

The second Jewish community of India is called ‘Cochin Jews’. Because they lived in the city of Cochin in south India. But actually the first settlement of the Cochin Jews wasn’t in Cochin but a little north from Cochin in the town of Kodungallur (formly Cranganore). Like the Bene Israels, the arrival time of the first Cochin Jews isn’t clear. But one fact is sure about the Cochin Jews, that they weren’t a single emigration. At different times Jews arrived and settled in Cochin. Highlights - Visit 04 synagogues • Paravur Synagogue • Chendamangalam Synagogue • Kadavum Bagam Synagogue (optional and will be visited if time available ) • Mattancherry Paradesi Synagogue • JewTtown visit

He was happy to provide a unique tour based on what I wanted to see, and so I was able to experience some of the beautiful countryside outside of the usual tourist attractions. If you are after an interesting and beautiful day with a company that knows their stuff and is happy to help you with anything you need, choose these guys - you won't regret it!

Gomowgly is something far from everything you can imagine. We had the pleasure to get in touch with them becase of a trip to India. We have been welcomed by Girish (that from now on will be named Pop Corn) who spent with us almost all the time of the trip. What they did was to show us that beauties, view, restaurants and small things that no one else would have been able to tell us about. Nor we could have had discovered by ourself. The trip was a mix of food and culinary experience, culture and religion, nature and fun. We had the time of our life, because of the experiences we did and because fo the great guide (or I would like to call him friend) that we had. The meaning of the name 'Pop Corn' results clear once we started the travelling, since no one has more energy enthusiasm and strength like he had. There was no one moment when he was down or tired to tell us stories, hints and tales about the place where we were. Every thing we did was like a single pop of a corn, so that when we finished the experience we were completely satisfied. Totally recommended for any trip in India!! Grazie Pop Corn ;)

Fort Cochin is marked for one of the earliest establishments of foreign trade in Kerala. The heritage walk is an awesome 1.5 km on foot, which takes us back to the 1500’s when the Portuguese, the Dutch and the English was busy trading the wealth. The island provided them a very wonderful place to trade and refresh. The heritage walk meets us at different monuments which reminds us of these historical landmarks. We will also visit Fort Kochi’s seaside promenade, and get a glimpse of daily life in Kochi. The walk lasts 2 hours and is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

We found Muziris Heritage Tours initially by doing an Internet search. The correspondence from Lijo was first class always prompt and clear. As a party of four we were cruising from Singapore to Abu Dhabi with three stops in India i.e. Cochin, God and an overnight in Mumbai. We had decided to book tours with Muziris Heritage in Cochin and one day in Mumbai thinking that we would do the second day ourselves. The tour we had booked in Cochin was not possible because of our noon arrival however Lijo had anticipated this and arranged another tour which was similar. Our initial thoughts were "this is not good" HOW WRONG WERE WE! the tour was amazing. We did do Goa independently even though Muziris did have a tour. Bad decision on our part Mumbai what can you say - our tour was absolutely fantastic with so many experiences. On our return to port we sought out Lijo and booked another tour for the following day which took us to see and experience the slum area of Mumbai. I cannot praise this company enough and would and have recommended it to others.
