Ethiopia’s Omo Valley region is one of the most remote parts of this incredible country. Omo Valley is Located in the Southern part of Ethiopia, this distant region feels like a world away from Northern Ethiopia – with a rural and tropical feel, it was more reminiscent of sub-Saharan Africa than anywhere else in the country. In this Unique place of the country multiple and strong indigenous cultures co-exist. On this cultural tour you have the opportunities to visit various busy local markets, different ethnic groups with different customs, rites, rituals, architecture and dress, a raw and fresh natural world and the special "Bull-Jumping" ceremony, in which a Hummer's boy will be transferred in to Adulthood.

We went on a 4-day trek in the Simien Mountains in April 2019 and had the most amazing time. Alex was very helpful and accommodating from the beginning, and everything was well organized and smooth. Our guide was an absolute legend (a 70+ year old who was way fitter than any of us) who knew the mountains inside and out and was incredibly knowledgeable about flora and fauna, especially birds which my mum (an avid bird watcher) was very excited about. Highly recommended to anyone who likes an adventure.

This is a small group photographic expedition to the remote tribes of the Omo Valley to witness some of the last remaining authentic tribes on the African continent. These photographic expeditions will take you on the east side of the Omo River. On this photo trip you will visit the Konso, Hamer, Kara, and Nyangatom tribes. You will spend a couple of days visiting their villages and intermingling with the different tribes, learning their lifestyle, attending ceremonies and rituals, and taking photos. There will be enough time with good light on different days to photograph their day-to-day activities, their body and face painting, herding of cattle, farming, and more. Being isolated from the fast-moving world because of its remote location for thousands of years, the Omo Valley is truly a haven for anthropologists and photographers looking for a unique photographic opportunity to a lesser-known and seldom-photographed region.

This had always been on my list of things to do - visit the Mursi and Hamer tribes. We were very excited to see the new way of life from the cultures of the Omo Valley. Gashaw was also super helpful and quick to respond and come up with an itinerary that fit our schedule, on short notice. I hope to do the full itinerary one day, driving from Addis through Hawassa and Arab Minch.

The trip is based on generating a genuine exchange with the local inhabitants of the country. We propose to stop being spectators to soak up Ethiopian cultures. During the trip we will seek to participate in ceremonies and festivities such as bull jumping and Timket. Learn and teach customs and form real bonds. Among the places we will visit are: the Elm Valley region, Tigray Axum Mekele Addis Ababa and Dallol. We will climb mountains, trek through rural villages, camp with tribes, enjoy the flora and fauna of lakes and savanna.

Just returned from 11 day Ethiopia tour with Alenehe as our guide. It was an interesting and enlightening tour covering major sites including the spectacular Lalibela-alone worth a visit to Ethiopia. Challenging driving on less than great roads but incredible mountain scenery and opportunity to see smaller cities and villages experiencing local life along the way. Comfortable hotels, great local foods. Alenehe was a great guide, accommodating and enjoyable/fun company. Recommend this Ethiopian company using local guides in all locations and benefitting local businesses!
Omo Valley is undoubtedly one of the most unique places on earth and the discovery of human remains dating back nearly 2.5 million years prompted UNESCO to dub the Lower Valley a World Heritage site in 1980. The villages are home to some of Africa’s most fascinating ethnic groups and a trip here represents a unique chance for travellers to encounter a culture markedly different from their own. Whether it’s wandering through traditional Dassanech villages, watching Hamer people performing a Jumping of the Bull ceremony or seeing the Mursi’s mind-blowing lip plates, your visit here will stay with you for a lifetime. The landscape is diverse, ranging from dry, open savannah plains to forests in the high hills and along the Omo and Mago Rivers. The former meanders for nearly 800km, from southwest of Addis Ababa all the way to Lake Turkana on the Kenyan border.

South Omo Valley tribes is a Unique experience with the most wilderness. For thousands of years the Omo Valley in southern Ethiopia was a crossroads for droves of people migrating to new lands. Today, it is undoubtedly one of the most unique places on earth because of the sheer diversity of tribal groups that live in this remote area of the Great Rift Valley. This is an extraordinary opportunity to immerse in the fabric of some of these societies, including the Mursi, Hamer and Karo tribes, each with their distinct culture. Expect a real adventure with conditions basic; the Omo Valley being an incredible reminder of an Africa that has not yet seen modernization.

I highly recommend Finot. Haile can capably arrange the most popular tourist attractions and make suggestions for a 'deeper dive' into the country. Even more important, he is passionate about all aspects of Ethiopia--history, culture, wildlife, food.... and works to make sure customers have a great experience. I felt with Haile and driver Josep, i was in good hands at all times. Amazing country, keep an open mind, sense of adventure, sense of humour, and you will be rewarded.
