Cascais has for thousands of years be the place were first Romans settle perhaps running away from Lisbon. It was granted the state is a village centuries ago and it kept like that. Don’t miss the opportunity of walking on its narrow streets feeling the breeze of the sea at the Bay and it’s fantastic views. It’s definitely a romantic cozy place to be.

This Miradouro or viewpoint is on the Tram 28 line. It is an outstanding viewpoint into Alfama. From here you will see the bright red-roofed, tile paneled white houses and their courtyards. The church towers and domes gleam in a healthy spattering of green. Nearby is the Church of of Santa Luzia, Castello de Sao Jorge, the Romanesque cathedral and various other sites too numerous to mention. I was glad to be here, but if you venture to those sites you need to plan and get some directions as there is a labyrinth of narrow streets and alleyways on your journey. All a little confusing

A stunner of a square, thr nicest in the whole old town although the Sao Tiago right next door through the arches runs it close! The beguiling Padrao Do Salado draws the eye, a lovely monument to those who died in the 14th century battle of Solado against Muslim forces. It has a big cross inside a gothic style portico. Behind it the Oliveira Church is a masterpiece. Its wonderfully intricate inside and out, such a peaceful place with beautiful stonework and sunshine pouring in the windows. All atound the Square there are restaurants with outdoor seating. It's a wonderful atmospheric area, one of my favourite places in Guimaraes. Dobt miss the old town hall at the far end from the Padrao, the one with the arches and the reddish hue.

The most beautiful avenue of Lisbon. You will see some beautiful paved walkways with patterns, and also shops, cafes , monuments and beautiful trees here. This is the part of Lisbon with expensive shops and impressive buildings. The best shops around town and a nice place to walk around.

The city of Evora is world heritage not only for its monuments. Their culture, their streets, whitewashed houses, the latticed balconies, their uneven sidewalks, its Gothic doors and windows, narrow and irregular streets of the Jewish quarter, its whiteness contrasting with the blue sky, its people , traditions and cuisine, among others make Evora is one of the best preserved world heritage cities. Stroll through its elegant medieval arcades and the unpretentious streets breathe history in Romans, Arabs and medieval manor and detail framed by the picturesque. Get regional crafts, indulge in the cuisine of the area and be sure to enjoy their famous wines. With a good hotel infrastructure, with many good restaurants, with warm people and beautiful monuments, Evora awaits your visit.
We loved walking from our hotel, on the outskirts of Évora, through to the centre. The houses are beautiful and streets still have that feeling of old! It has a peaceful atmosphere with a colourful feel to it. Add the historical discoveries on nearly every corner and it's just a fantastic tranquil place to visit. We loved it and wished we could stay a few days longer. ENJOY :)
