Molly Gallivan's Cottage & Traditional Farm

Molly Gallivan’s cottage and traditional farm invites you to take a step back in time to experience the simple country lifestyle in rural Ireland before the days of electricity and modern conveniences. Molly’s enchanting cottage is over 200 years old and her farm is complete with animals, fowl and traditional farm machinery. Molly’s old Tea Shop is very unique in Ireland, here you will taste locally made foods cooked and baked in the traditional fashion. We also hold traditional Irish evenings at Molly Gallivan’s cottage, these are nights of Irish food, music, song, dance and story telling, re-enacting the old customs that took place in Irish homes. Advanced booking is required for our Traditional Irish Evenings please contact us for availability and prices.

Molly Gallivan's is every bit worth your time to stop and take in the history of rural Ireland. You get to experience what it was like to live a farm life in the old traditional way. On the farm, there are animals, orchards, gardens, a poitin still (Molly's Mountain Dew), and a house that is over 200 years old. There is a tea room and local crafts are sold. This was by far my favorite store to purchase handmade and quality gifts.

Bray Head Loop Walk

Reviewed By Preacherman1973 - Milford, United States

Originally we had planned to take a ferry to Skellig St. Michael but due to miscommunication we did not make the connection. It was incredibly disappointing as it was a bucket list moment that was 4 years in the making but was then missed. In sadness we just started driving. It was a beautiful day and we determined to rally and find something to do. As we crossed the bridge at Portmagee onto Valentia Island we decided to try and follow the coast. In the process we stumbled across the little parking lot with the trail leading out to the peninsula and made what ended up being the most brilliant decision to park the car and follow the hiking path out to the point. That fateful decision lead us to one of the most amazing views I have ever had and one of the most memorable days of our trip to Ireland and one we still talk about 14 years later. The day we were their was very warm (about 85F) and the walk was quite a ways, about 1.5 miles to the end. We did not realize the distance and did not have water with us, our only negative. The drop off at the end of the point is breathtaking. There were sheep grazing in the fields and the wife got to take pictures petting them as well. I realize that this is such a limited description for what I admit to being one of our best sights in Ireland but frankly words defy description, just go! You will thank yourself, especially since it is free. Oh, and I should add we would trade a trip to the Skelligs to go to Bray Head anytime if we ever get back.

Bromore Cliffs is just a mile from Ballybunion. 180 foot of sheer cliffs, sea stacks and sea caves and with views of the Devils Castle and the Bays below. The cliffs can be accessed through the farm of Michael a local landowner, for a small parking fee. Michael loves sharing his stories about the wildlife, the cliffs, and shipwrecks, the atlantic grey seals and bottlenose dolphins who sometimes appear. It is stunning.
